  • French cinematic navel-gazing at its worst.

  • the riveting 'listening to the Edith Piaf record" scene.

  • Anybody wanna share this movie with me? I'm really curious to watch it wholly.

  • My god is this man beautiful....I just died when he started singing.

  • Is it me or she's stunning?

  • what are the cigarettes they smoke in this film?!!!!!!

  • Nope. It's Damia, as it is specified at the end of the movie. The song from Fréhel isn't that one. "La Chanson des fortifs" is the title, but it is has been called "Un souvenir" too.

  • Hmm, strange, because "Un souvenir" has entirely different lyrics & music. Also the arrangement is so typical for Fréhel...

  • I got it all mixed up... It is Fréhel in deed. And the song is "La Chanson des fortifs" too, from 1936. But "Un souvenir" is from Damia, and has nothing to do with it, except that both are in the movie. I don't have La Maman et la putain anymore, but I think the credits says that Fréhel's song is "La Chanson du passé", wich is a song by Damia, and has nothing to do with "La Chanson des fortifs". May you check that ?

  • Sorry, don't have the entire film any longer...
