u guys seem like u knw wtf u talkin bout can someone tell me whats the best camaro from 2000-2002 in details i knw ss but i see slp ls1 lt lol????im trying to get one ma friends have the ws6 so not tryin to get the same car. i knw ws6 look nice but ive always liked maros.
in a short race like that it should be about even (if both cars were stock) but a little longer and the camaro would have pulled away. but oh well, glad the trans am won :)
I have a stock lt1 and I stay with ls1s with exhaust cams gears and even a stroker all day.... I've been beat by one ls1 and it was an ultra z! It's faster than the firehawk so yeah...
sorry, but that is BS.The T/A had head's and cam full exhaust and gears and won by about 1 1/2 car. the LS1 had full bolt on's and full suspension and exhaust, gears's,stall and dr's. Don't know your racing cindations but it takes a little more to beat LS1 then a stock LT1.
@khloodlover1989 the LS1 makes about 50 more hp than an LT1 stock (corvette LT1s at least),with a few mods an LT1 can easily outrun a stock LS1...saying its IMPOSSIBLE to beat an LS1 is just plain retarded.Go back to kindergarten and learn basic spelling.
@khloodlover1989 because no matter what mods the TA may have had, it could never ever possibly beat an LS1? That's just beyond any physical possibility I guess... LS1 is a superior engine, without a doubt, but some of you guys are just completely ridiculous. Apparently NOTHING with four wheels has or ever will beat an LS1 car, EVER. -.- come on.
When both cars were stock, my 94Z 6M vs buddy's 00 SS 6M from a 55mph roll I'm guessing cause I only had 2nd for a sec and had to shift. Took it to 6K and I'm sure he did too. We would be even after the 3rd gear shift for about 2sec and he started slowly pulling 2 or 3 times. I was gettn screwed on the high rpm start and surprised him from a low rpm 2nd gear start... he did have a passenger on lower rpm start. I'd say it'd be up to the driver but ls is faster in the longrun not lite 2 lite.
@KillaPontiac, that's not what I was discussing. Driftmasterlogan stated that the Camaro is better than a Firebird is irrelevant as they are based off of the same platform. An LT1 Camaro and Firebird share nearly all the same parts minus minor interior and exterior pieces, however, the mechanicals are the same. Same goes for the newer LS1 version whose chassis is the same as the LT1 versions. Even then, the LT1 and LS1 platforms still share the same parts.
Anyone who says LT1's run door to door with LS1's are fucking retarted. LS1's have more HP and at least the same torque and are overall the better engine. Look it up any where. Average LT1 cars run 14.5-13.8 where LS1's are 13.8-12.90. I have seen so many of these cars and have owned 3 trans am's and a camaro, and the LS1 hands down is the king of the hill.Think what you want but when you get pulled on by a stock LS1 you'll know.....you'll know.....
@sideways85 just look at your own times for each bro race much? yes ls1 is better but even a 14 vrs a 13.5 is so close in the 1/4 you could not tell who one from a starting line who ever leaves the line better would prob win... of course i am in the process of an Ls6 swap in my formula cause i really fucking hate the optispark
LMAO...average LS1 cars do not run 12.90's. Some of the late LS1 fbodys where made very well and have broken into the very high 12's but it is not common whatsoever. It all depends on many variables. I've seen stock LS1 cars unable to break 14.0 and stock LT1 cars run mid 13's. Some cars are under performers, and some are apparently blessed by god from the factory. Comperable motors? Absolutely. I'd say anyone who expects the average LS1 fbody to run 12's is fucking retarded.
@SuRihtanil Where is the proof that states that the LS1 was underated? If they are underated then why does an LT1 run door to door with them all day long? Hahaha.....underated my foot.
@LT1HILLINGHOE Try putting one on a dyno and you can see for yourself... Trust me bro they're underrated, I have seen LS1 stock SS's make 344 motor HP, that's a far cry from what GM rated them at. On avgerage they seem to be somewhere around 325-330HP on the normal T/A and Z-28s. I have seen probably 10 camaros and trans am's from 93-02 on a dyno and stock. The LT1's are pretty spot on GM rated the 285HP perfectly, just the LS1 have a bit more punch, and no LT1 won't run right beside LS1.
@SuRihtanil I own a 1996 LT1 T/A with exhaust work and the 02 Trans Am is faster than my car by about 3 car lengths in a long run up to about 120mph. Now if I find someone who shifts horrible in a LS1 than maybe I can run beside him.
@SuRihtanil I have a 93 TA that ran a 13.55 bone stock down to the paper filter.. That's door to door or quicker all day long against any stock LS1 anywhere. I have owned many LT1's and an LS1 SS with gears and dyno tune. You can't type anything on YouTube I ain't heard before. Results speak for themselves, dude. A Lloyd Elliott LT1 will run an 11.20....I got one that does it and it eats LS1's all day for breakfast. LOL...just heads and cam, gears, dyno tune and stall. No big whoop.
@LT1HILLINGHOE Well here is my 96 LT1 watch?v=jJuItOZW5mw so I own one show me some vids of you beating LS1 and I will believe you, but my best bud has a LS1 stock, and his car is faster.... As you can see my LT1 has been taken care of and not ragged out. I drive it almost everyday so I know what an LT1 T/A can do... I have also owned a mustangs, camaro's and all that jazz, but even with myself a good shifter I can't beat an LS1 with a stock LT1. I dabble with lots of cars no reason to lie.
Maybe you have beaten plenty of LS1 in your LT1, that's all fine by me more power to you, I would like to know your secret. I am sure this winter when I fix the T/A I have up and full bolt on with a 8.8 3:73 I will be able to dust stock LS1 without a problem, but for now they have the edge.
@SuRihtanil Lloyd Elliott Stage II is my secret for any LT1 and I don't have to post any vids to impress or cause anyone to "believe" me. If you don't want to believe me....so what? You keep on doing whatever it is that you do and I will keep doing what I have been doing for over 27 years. Have a nice life.
Amen man. many people don't realize the potential there. LE2 setup for $1600 can get your stock bottom end up to over 400rwhp, depending upon the drivetrain. Gotta love ignorant people.
r@LT1HILLINGHOE i agree with you the base line for each "Ls1 vrs Lt1" are very close... Ls1 pulls mid to high, Lt1 pulls low to mid. well stock that is... i have dropped around 500 lbs, no a/c "and i live in tampa fl" no rear seats, no emissions... air pump cat etc. And plenty of bolt-ons with my own pcm tune with 373 rear gear this car runs around a 12.8 on street tires. stock heads stock cam stock block. its all in how you tune and power to weight... simple
@LT1HILLINGHOE exactly. and ur irght on that also bout ignorant people. it doesnt take all that much to equal the LS nor murder it!! ive got a 3.73 rear end with full exhaust and i stay with the LS birds.
Looks pretty even to me. As far as ToBestest quoting horsepower for these cars, don't quit your day job. In F-body trim the LT-1 made 275hp and the LS-1 made 305hp. Also the differences between the two engines and the cars they power are so tiny that you would expect this type of finish every time. It is more of a drivers race as the two engines are so close together it comes down to who gets on it first. The only time where the differences are a lot are between F-body and Corvette.
anyways i was talking about actual horsepower not rwhp. and sorry the lt1 would have actually like what 310-315 and the ls1 is rated at 345-350 depending on who it is rated by
yea my '01 WS6 put down 315 RWHP with only a SLP lid and 107,000mi...my block is one of the LS6 blocks, and any LS1 after '00 came with LS6 intake. I ran 13.14@101mph 1.89 60ft it confused because my '79 Z28 4spd 3:73, built up motor and suspension goes 13.90's@100mph, 358RWHP...thats the weight difference and technology...but after LT headers, cat deletes, hooker muffler, no tune I went 12.97@110mph and 2.10 60 ft lol...if I could cut a 1.9 60ft now I'd run 12.50's no problem???????
