Just Have to say i love you guys. i love the complex vocal layers and shredding that goes on nearly mathcore type composition and meters of all of your songs. but i was wondering, since i also do very essential clean vocals for my type of metal, what are good warmups you use to preserve your voice on the clean parts but still have really good lows? i also do lows and mids and i don't want to damage my vocal chords. So any advice would be greatly appreciated and keep being awesome haha
Hey man, I saw you guys the other night in Pittsburgh at Mr. Smalls with my friends in Oh No! The Afterlife. Great fucking show, and insanely intense music! KEEP IT UP
met this fellow last night at Protest the Hero. Amazing show Mike! You guys are very talented and creative (and friendly) and are going places. The concept album/ game integration is a stroke of genius!
Hey Mike, saw you at the Key Club on Monday, Im a drummer, but Im also taking music theory, and im unsure of the difference between a chord and a harmony. Is a harmony the same notes as the origional melody just up or down octaves? or do they have a root a 3rd and a 5th like regular chords?
in your music vid for "Upload Complete" i thought "he makes weird faces when he screams". and then i came here and i thought damn he's actually really good. that major 2nd harmony and the minor 2nd steps up and down in the melody sound a lot like what the vocalist from Periphery does especially in "Icarus Lives!". is that where you got your inspiration or is it the other way around?
@ilykthings have you seen them live? it sounded to me like he doesn't use harmonies at all live. not that i'm complaining. it showcases his talent even more.
So for someone with a bass-baritone voice like myself, how do I manage making clean vocals sound good over prog-metal and thrash metal? I can do hetfield-type vocals perfectly, but I want more range. Also, nice voice bro. :D
I hadn't heard of you guys before last night. Saw you in Hollywood with Animals As Leaders. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. You guys are amazing. Bought your CD too :)
Finally some decent vocals coming from a "metal (umbrella term)" band today that sound great on and off the album. Vocals are serious slacking in this genre today. Check the album out people, whether you like it or not it's up to you but it will probably open you up to an unfamiliar sound. I give credit to this band for standing out.
all i have to say is "pure genius" . my brother had sent me a video like he always does , either of games or music . this time when i clicked the link i never expected to fall so deep into your music, coupled with they game just blew my fucking mind. keep doing what you're doing. :)
hey dude i saw ypu guys live with Wretched and bands NEVER inspire me at 1st sight. but for real man your voice is fucking badass and it inspired me at 1st time hearin t, its a voice ive always wanted to do, and im only good for deep death metal low growls and high pitches but i wanna wor on my singing and get good as you, any advice?
@adan921 I think that finding your range is an excellent way to start. Find a piano or keyboard and see what notes are easy to sing. It takes tons of practice and persistence. Always be honest with yourself, that way you can embrace your mistakes and fix them. I hope that little bit of insight helps!
@HeavyDeath13 Right on! If you're just starting out you should find your natural range and get solid at that. As you get more comfortable you can expand your sound. Always challenge yourself enough to make progress, but don't overdo it.
DUDE!!!!!!!!! Im listening to this and I'm thinking "mad, heaps jazzy and shit" and then with everything together at the end with the "best music of all" with it all together, WAS FUCKEN MAD MAN!!!!!!!!! I did not see that coming LOL
I...WANT...TO...HEAR...A...COMPLETED...SONG...BY..YOU..RIGHT...NOW! The harmonies are going to remind me of btbam and plus its over metal music too. good shit dude!! keep it up!

@kook1028 Harmonies are at least two notes separated by an interval. A chord has at least 3 notes.

I sent this to my voice teacher asking about your vibrato technique. The man is nationally recognized, and he was rather impressed.
