@belle011 The lyrics are so tragic and lovely, the song moves me but reading the lyrics really helps me understand, sounds like I have been so many times, in love and loving and ultimately rejected. Is it better to be at the height of love and be rejected, or to succumb to the love at its height and be accepted only to long for the time when it was so powerful and real???

I agree. The melody is so fluent and powerful that (as an ex-band-leader myself), I think a singer with the (rare) ability to hold notes, accompanied just by a pair of bongos, could pull off a classic version of 'Siboney'. As for reverb, I couldn't agree more - it is the last refuge of the frauds who can't hold a note for more than half a bar. In the early 1950s, I used to lead a 5-piece Latin band. "Siboney" was a favourite request EVERY night! And I've heard dozens of singers sing this lovely Lecuona song. But Connie Francis just about blew me off my feet. I just never thought to hear it sung with such beauty and power.
