Cole Porter wrote "ROSALIE" with tongue in cheek. After six of his better written songs had been rejected by a motion-picture producer, Cole slapped together "Rosalie" as a sort of revenge. However, "Rosalie" became one of Cole Porter's biggest money-makers and the public never knew that it was never meant to be taken seriously.
With all due respects to Benny Goodman, in my humble opinion, Artie's band was just as swinging as Benny's and it's not hard to see why so many fans thought Artie was indeed the "King of the Clarinet". Great song! Great band! I loved it!!!
Great song (love the artie shaw), And a great player, and great job on the video. Thats how Id like to be able to do mine! The still of the record center, and the pictures superimposed over the video of the record spinning. Its really quite cool.
this is the sound

Love Benny for his jazz style but when it came to mastery of the clarinet,Artie just has it all.

Funny....The record says 1945 swing series, but this song was recorded in 1939

This woudl have been a rare and expensive record in wartime Britain. I assume the stamp indicates a 48p tax on top of the price.
