i wish tecmo didnt nab this game from natsume, otherwise this wouldnt be a ninja gaiden game but rather an another kickass installment of kage.

so basically, the company behind ninja gaiden selfishly claimed ninja righteousness and effectively ended what could be another great ninja series, even franchise. they needed a pinch of kage to acquire this awesomeness. thus this game was edited and sold, and they profited on it. GODDAMN YOU TECMO I DONT CARE ABOUT NINJA GAIDEN. I GREW UP WITH KAGE.

This Ninja Gaiden was the best, because it was balanced. No cheap ass respawning enemies, or getting knocked back. Let's not forget the epic grappling hook.

are Natsume a sister company of Tecmo, vice versa? Because this version of Ninja Gaiden a lot like Natsume's Shadow of the Ninja from the NES!!! Most notably the sound effects and level 1 music.

No, Natsume is not a sister company of TECMO.

This game was ORIGINALLY going to be the sequel to Shadow of the Ninja on the NES, taking place 3 years before the original game, but TECMO got into a little bit of a creative dispute with Natsume, so Natsume developed this game for TECMO.

There are a few NG tracks in the game but I think most of the tracks are originals.

Actually this game was supposed to be a port of Shadow of the Ninja in the NES. But in the last months of development Tecmo basically bought the game and retooled/reprogrammed it. Hence a lot of the gameplay and feel of "Shadow of the Ninja" is still in there.

by the way, the sound effect at the start screen and the one when ryu hangs down a platform are exactly the same as in NES's "Blue Shadow" aka "Kage (jap)", "Shadow of the ninja (US)"

Love this game SO much. It's one of the few games that I never get bored with.

It has all the right elements that makes a game genualy great. Good music, good graphics (for Gameboy), and a good challenge level.

Infact I'm actually making a game Inspired by Ninja Gaiden Shadow which stars a female ninja in a near-future setting. :D

They're Ninpo, when used, one Ninpo charge is lost and Ryu sends a fire wave on the enemies. I believe I used these the first time on the second stage.
