I don't mind the accent so much and every nation has it's own accent. the problem is the grammar and the structure of the sentence. I have friends from HK, Spain, Germany etc and they speak with a heavy accent but proper english and correct grammar. As for singaporean, even those who has great language skill choose to speak singlish.

I think people are confused. He 's referring to the Singlish dialect which contains many words not found in the conventional English language. Singaporeans can choose to speak Singlish or proper English. As for the accent, that's how everyone speaks

Only rich parents are able to sent them to schools with english syllabus taken from UK while the government funded schools just teaches basic english. The most basic reason why Singlish has broken grammar is because they literally translate the sentences from Chines
