ive been riding a Rs 750 Shadow and i have found that the sound is actually quite satisfying. Enough to catch looks, but not enough to piss off neighbors
@Kooshank good ,the 750 and the vlx sound great ,but the only looks that the bigger cc hondas get is a look like someone just farted ,btw hondas sportbikes sound great too
@Kooshank The Shadow 750 is a different engine design, and actually sounds good for a smaller displacement V-twin, especially with modified intake/exhaust. Unfortunately for people who love the intangible joys of motorcycles, Honda decided to put little thought into how the VTX engine sounds when "uncorked." People are quick to demonize this mod; preferring some $700 exhaust instead, but the architecture of the engine doesn't change. It still has that "clappy" sound to it. Love it or hate it
95% of Harleys are still on the road today........the other 5% made it home.( i joke, anyone that truely rides is ok in my book,no matter what youre on)
@Vtx73 They way it should be. I'm one of those guys who are still saving for his first bike but to me I dont care if you're on a crotch rocket or a moped...I'll give ya the salute.
@zws13 more bike for the money this way. Why pay shit loads of money just just for a sign that says Harley Davidsson? The japs have built better bikes for years. Harley have its special sound yes, but some guys wanna ride their bike. Not lay on the ground all days fixing them
@ariesnr1 I'm looking for my very first bike. My first initial choice was to look at a Harley, it's funny because I've talked to about eight different guys and about three women and they all say the exact same thing you just did about Harley's...
@GeekAlley Hehe yeah, thats cause its as true as Oprah eats Ben n Jerry for breakfast! But what I can give Harley is that they most often have cooler looking bikes. But what I do hate is Harley riders that can't great another biker that dont ride Harley. What kind of bike you ride don't make you a biker. Its whats inside you that's make you a biker.
compare 00:40 to 4:40 , and 4:40 sounds better 4 holes 3 holes 1 hole any amount will give it needed volume , not the best tone but it's not a Stratacaster LOL these bikes rule !
I wrote to you a year ago, thanks again for your input & efforts posted on youtube. I have recently worked on my large single 1800 VTX exhaust pipe by trying to get better flow going through the muffler. There is a big cat converter inside as well as what seemed to be walls that had to be drilled through. It sounds a little better but I need to keep going more towards your style mod. These bikes are monsters, its too bad I couldnt afford the over priced pipes instead but times are tough.
I think it sounds awesome. I have a 1800R and would be willing to do this to my bike. The stock pipes are just to quiet and unfortunately I can't afford new pipes right now. Thanks for he video.
Thank for spending time to post this video. Really enjoy it. Does not sound too bad at all after the modification, it better than some of the other "new" pipes posted on utube anyway. :D
I copied this from something you wrote on someone elses channel & going to paste it here for you "-If you didn't like the subject what did you watch for stupid?" seems you should practice what you preach since it was good advice that came from your own fingers somewhere else but now applies to you here... This man was very nice to post this video then have jerks make poor comments. Looks like you do that a lot from the comments I have seen you write. Its rude man, try some peace.
@mrwhimpy1 Your half right about that, got to this video from watching some Harley stuff about pipes and when I saw the comments here couldn't help myself. Even on this video about a honda you guys have to comment on Harleys, what is it, jealousy, what?
@jcthawaii , absolutely not, most Harleys & "most" of their riders are cool. If I wanted one bad enough I would buy one. Your a little slow this comment is a year old... I'm not here to cause or have any trouble so if you want to message me please message my profile & don't muddy up this nice gentleman's posting. Thanks p.s. I usually am 1/2 right & I'm ok with that, could be 100% wrong..
didnt sound too bad, I have an M109r and did the same thing when i got it...it carried me for a while untill i rounded up the money for new pipes and a pcIII
i disagree with jsullivan re: why they're discontinued, this one does sound like shit but ive ridden several of these and they're bad ass. They're so tourqey that if you rev them past about 2500rpm you're wasting you're time.
I am having a very hard time choosing between a vtx 1800 F series or a yamaha raider and my dad and uncle both have a vtx 1800 and they say i should get the VTX as my first bike, what should I do and does anyone know a good website that can compare or some time of reviews on the bikes? Anyone recommend which bike?
Lord knows, I've done my share of muffler mods on my Harley, so I can sympathize with anyone trying to get "just the right sound." I have to say, though, on your VTX, I think it actually sounded better in stock form.
you mentioned the 1300. Did you mean the 1300 has a better sound when modded? I am deciding whether to buy a 1300 or 1800. Any advise. I like the fuel injection on the 1800. I think the 1300 does not have fi.
That new mod sounds like a mix between a sewing machine and a lawn mower. No wonder why Harley guys make fun of our bikes! Just man up and buy some real pipes man. I've got HK3's with straight-thru baffles on my 13R.
Did you notice a power increase or performance difference? I am considering this modification on mine but I have the large single pipe. Do you have any suggestions? Do you have any regrets in this modification? Thank you
it did not seem like it changed anything but the sound. have never heard it done on a single pipe, don't know how it would sound or do for the performance. i have no regrets for doing the mod.
hello...... did you had any over heating problems....

@zws13 You're right. Even though Hondas handle better, are faster and more reliable I should spend twice as much on the harley.
