if you believe, after seeing how the roof on this vehicle is nearly completely flat, that Honda saved this drivers life, you are ridiculous. Luck, or GOD, saved his life. The vehicles passenger compartment completely failed and the passengers should have been crushed!
well guys I just had a woman in a 04 Grand Vitara jump the median and flip head on into me it the left front and left side even broke off the right back wheel and i only came out with bruises . She hit a tercel after hitting me and totalled it pinned the driver broke his ribs. My Honda 06 ridgeline save my ass bigtime. THX HONDA
It obviously took most of the impact that is why it is all folded up. When the vehicle absorbs impact it is better for the occupants. That is why crumple zones are built into vehicles. Better to absorb than deflect and transfer all that energy to occupants. You can't argue with laws of science.
Nice to see sleeping will save your life when you crash. It reminds me of when drunk drivers crash because they don't tense up so they live to tell about it. I am just suprised to see some one walk away from a honda because they seem tinny.
That was a horrable crash. Wow! Not even a broken?!!!!!!! I am a fan of Toyota but now I love Toyota and Honda. I live Toyota I love Honda. Anyway I am happy that he is fine and alive.
wow, it went off the interstate? I'm surprised it didn't do more damage to that truck than it already did. Good thing you got this truck, most others wouldn't protect you as well as this one did (except maybe a tundra lol).
Ford F-150 Top IIHS Safety Pick? What a joke! Do you have any idea how low the standards are set by the IIHS and NTSB! You wouldn't post garbage like that if you had a clue.
Look guys, I have worked as a Paramedic for 12 years and the Ridgeline is the only vehicle I transport my family in. seen way to many "big trucks" that have there bulk and weight work against them and end up hurting the occupants. No, the Ridgeline in NOT a heavy hauling truck , but it IS the Safest truck on the market for 5 people and a 1200 lb payload in the back.
The safest truck you can drive!!! um did you watch this video?? it like folded in half, im not dissing the ridgline but its not the safest truck not evan close.
Sorry but the Ridgeline has the highest safety rattling! It is the safest truck you can drive! Its not suppose to be pretty after you total it, its suppose to safe you life and let you walk away! Google is your friend
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Sorry, but a little japenese truck is NOT going to hold up better than a 09 F150 or silverado, thats just not going to happen. im not saying the ridgline is bad by any meens but its not the safest. dont believe everything honda and google says. its comin sense .
look dumbass the ridgeline IS going to hold up better. since 06 the ridgeline has gotten 5 stars and has been a top safety pick from every single crash testing company in the US. im not saying ford is bad, infact i like ford, chevy.. well safety hasnt always been their thing, they are getting better, but unfortunatly this IS the safest truck on the road today.
I agree that The RL and Ridgeline is safe. But that accident collapsed the roof. I think the driver got lucky. Glade he lived to tell about it. Now as far as my friend who died in a RL. He wasn't doing over 100 MPH with out a seat belt, and hitting the back of an 18 wheeler trailer. Safety dosn't cure dumb. Plus the car really didn't look s\that bad. it was totaled but it heeled up well. What killed him was a neck injury.
The Ridgeline has 6 airbags in the entire car and a 5 star crash test rating and i am pretty damn sure that no other truck has that so statistically speaking the ridgeline is technically the safest truck you can drive. Jeep libertys on the other hand are completely unsafe my sister changed to the ridgeline after a tragic accident that she was in in which she lost her left arm and broke her leg in three places. she switch so she could have a bigger safer car.
I dont care how safe a car is, it wont hold up to everything. I think that the car side airbags was a major part of it, but mostly luck. I know mos vehicles have side airbags. Not sure about pickups though. But yeah, it is the safest ruck on the road. As fare as your friend goes, DAMN
Now i completely agree i just got an accident today in my 2008 Ridgeline RTL and everything is fixable and im perfectly fine luckily no one was hurt but i think it is very safe
Yeah it was just ironic that i was watching all these videos about how safe the car is and that they are good cars and then the very next morning someone cuts me off and i get in a wreck but everyone was fine and the accident was not my fault so its ok
No its not totaled but my front right corner is smashed up pretty bad. I don't have any pictures at the moment but if or when i get some pictures ill try and send them to you. But i was going down a two lane one way street in the left hand lane and another car was in the right hand lane a little ahead of me and took a left turn from the right lane in front of me and cut me off. I didn't have enough time to stop so i t-boned her.
This is why i drive a ridgeline, they are built right, despite all the shit people say about them. The frame is actually a unibody which is stiffer than those crap channel rail or tubular chassis that flex and squeak like hell to make sure they dont buckle when towing. The ridgeline was built with practicality in mind, unlike all the other v8 tanks people drive around these days.
You do know that a v8 dosn't need to work nearly as hard as a v6 when hauling. When the v6 engine is having to run hard, it actually will use more fuel than the v8 because V8'shave more torque at low RPM. Yes the ridgeline is a nice vehicle but is not the kind off truck to work with when hauling heavy objects. Its simple a low duty pick up. And yes it is very wast full to have a Big truck and it never hauls any thing but grocery's.
Yeah i agree with the v8 thing, i dont haul tho i just use the ridgeline for trips and to put my quad in so the v6 will do. My grandma has a crown vic, there suspension is really soft.
As well as the frame, it flexes over bumbs. Its like how sky scrapes are made to sway in he wind, If they don't they will be to brittle and crack. Like a uni body is very stiff but brittle. However the body probably will never break under normal driving or even some off roading, just if it is hauling something it is not designed to haul.
RL's have a unit body and a fully boxed frame underneath, giving you the best of both worlds. Super safe. i saw pictures of another one that was hit head on by another car that crossed the median on the interstate and the driver of the Ridgeline was fine. i know the F***, Che***, and Do*** owners will never be convinced, but the Hondas are much better built. Drive one and see.
Did you not read the caption that the driver walk away without a broken bone? Unibody construction is the safest way to go in any vehicle, NO pick up on the market has better crash ratings than the Ridgeline.
Good for them. Glad they are fine. But I still don't want one. Unibodys arent made for the stress that a truck is designed to handle. Unibody flex to much. It needs to have a ladder from for more strength. Yes I know they are safe, its just not good for a wok truck hauling heavy load everyday. And look at the roof, it nearly caved in. Im not saying another truck would do better, I think that the driver just got lucky.
Your wrong, unibodys flex less, they are stiffer. The average truck frame is made to flex so that you can haul more. This is why they usually dont ride well.
You just contradict your self. You said unibodys ride better but yet are stiffer. Have you ever been in a Ford Crown Vitoria. You ever noticed how they ride smooth. Its because it is built like a pick up. With a ladder frame sitting on rubber bushings. This makes it ride smooth. Trucks are not made to have a soft ride, they need stiff springs to support weight. Ladder frame cars on the other had have much softer rides. Go ride in a crown vic. That is a very smooth riding vehicle.
for the love of god what the hell did you hit to cause that much damage on every single part of that truck. im a honda tech for the past 6 years and i have seen some pretty messed up truck but never anything like this. glad to hear that you are ok.
