Here's something I haven't seen answered. Why does Googlebot seem to always favor the low-bandwidth versions of forums? What are the seo implications of this? Does googlebot 'know' which types of forums have this and favor it? It's kind of annoying sometimes, but then again I can understand that there's still a lot of people out there on dialup connections.
To me it's very useful because some of my products relevant to certain country. It just like metacafe, where I can specifically focus my uploaded video to the relevant country. Thanks, Matt.
I'll admit that it's important to read between the lines of what Matt says, but here he's simply saying "don't be spammy, don't lie", and "you'll get away with it for awhile, but we'll catch you, and penalize you, eventually".
@xecutey I think you are completely right. They are still in fact a competitive company that is a conglomerate (sp?). Disinformation is a strategy that has played well for Google.
How about when your business is setup in a specific country BUT your customers come from everywhere in the world, except from where that specific country where your business is? For example: you offer a Vacation Packages in a specific country... In these same lines: what is better: 1. have subdomains for the same content in different languages or different websites for specific languages?
I've spent the good part of an hour looking for it and didn't find it (though I saw some other useful videos so it's OK!).
Would it be too much to ask if you could point me in the right direction?
And in regards to my second question about same content in different languages, there are three options that come to my mind in fact: 1. different subdomains, 2. differenent directories, same website 3. just different websites.
If we get answers to those 2 questions whole picture will be crystal clear!
what if you must target ppl living in usa for "hotels in singapur"?

Googlebot favor websites that load faster :)

Because low-bandwidth versions are typically better for seo.

Sometimes I don't always trust Matts advice.
Especially on this one.
He seems to say what Google wants us to believe alot rather than the whole truth.
No one shoot me though, just my opinion and no I'm not going to get in to a debate about it.

I agree with almightyvegeta87, because sometimes we need to do regional targeting like South America or East Asia.
crystalliuyifeifan 2 years ago 2
What to do when we want to target only 2-3 countries ?
Then don't change anything ? Maybe there should be an option to set geographical location for more then 1 country.
