Her voice is amazing, and I love the lyrics. Her stage performance leaves a lot to be desired though... She needs to work on her body language. To much shifting weight on her feet and fiddling with her hands, seems incongruent with her voice. If she can learn to be more graceful, proud and rooted she will look like the godess she sounds like.

You know why you think that "this is crap"? Because the Studio version of Born to Die has hundreds of vocal layers and it creates a really pretty sound, like it has a "whispering" base to it. I read in an interview that she prefers sometimes to chose her deep voice in order to be treated as more serious woman, not a girl with sweet, high voice. But, I adore every note and whispering of her!
She is growing as an artist. She has improved sooooo much (especially since this). She seems to be a very nervous/anxious person, and being a performer with bad anxiety problems, I know it takes a lot of nerve to put yourself out there, so please stop being bitches and wish her the best.

@kaylajovi I recorded this video with a Leica V-Lux 30 which is a great camera. The problem is that I was standing up front, right next to an amplifier, that's why the sound isn't that good. But I can say that the bad quality of the sound doesn't affect the notes she can or can't reach. Even though I love her voice/music, she's a good singer, not a great one. But I do agree with you, she's better than many big names today.

Singers are suppose to sing in the register that they talk in, singing in other registers can hurt your voice. Nevertheless, I think she does very well, especially on other songs. But you can notice though on the high notes she does sing, they are sort of thin, and when she is low, she sounds german or russian, causing she is forcing her voice to be low. Just my two cents. She still rocks!
Lana is just starting her career. Her previous efforts in music shouldn't even be considered as experience, since she was basically ignored. She is not even close to her full potential, still learning how to deal with the crowd and stuff. wait, people, wait...
apparently she looks totally uncomfortable on stage, It seems she would like to be in another part of the world instead to sing in front of a relatively small audience. She has to improve her stage performance before to face a worlwide tour. It's the risk to be in the showbiz and become immediately so successfull with only one or two song. Lana Del Rey, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Kanye West, Wiz Khalifa, etc. All of them and the ones that I missed are great performers and singers/rappers, but they don't make music. They make "American Music", but not music.

Her singing isn't anything impressive to begin with but she really does not sound good live. That deep register does not sound like her normal singing range and that she's forcing herself to go there making it difficult for her to sing.

I think the way she acts on stage is due to lack of experience, she's careful not to miss any notes 'cause she doesn't want to mess anything up. She has to improve her stage performance before to face a worlwide tour. It's the risk to be in the showbiz and become immediately so successfull with only one or two song. You can lose your "phenomenal" status in a sec.

@jutucci lol I'm not american, this is a fake id, americans have a terrible taste of music. Lana Del Rey, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Kanye West, Wiz Khalifa, etc. All of them and the ones that I missed are great performers and singers/rappers, but they don't make music. They make "American Music", but not music.

@JohnnyJohnW I agree that Americans don't always have goos taste in music! But I don't think LDR is to be compared with Britney, for instance. I really like her songs, her voice, I think she's kinda unique. She's isn't famous in the U.K. for nothing, those guys are the best judges when it comes to music. And I'm curious, who do you consider to be a great musician?

Her singing isn't anything impressive to begin with but she really does not sound good live. That deep register does not sound like her normal singing range and that she's forcing herself to go there making it difficult for her to sing.

@sockstealingnome Trust me, I also thought she wouldn't sound good, but she's a great singer. You have to see her live before judging. I think the way she acts on stage is due to lack of experience, she's careful not to miss any notes 'cause she doesn't want to mess anything up. Give her a break, this is her first tour, she'll be getting better in no time.

@moofushu She performed 9 songs only! No encore. (Setlist: Without you, Born To Die, Blue Jeans, Radio, Million Dollar Man, Video Games, Summertime Sadness, You Can Be The Boss, Off To The Races.) At the beginning they said you could not take pictures, but as you can see, I taped the whole concert and people were taking pictures everywhere throughout the concert.
