One of the very few womens westerns made at that time, and proberbly the greatest, years ahead of its time, rounded of by a haunting and memorable theme song by Peggy Lee, great to hear it again, Thanks.
In answer to the question who I am look up "Wayne Brasler" on Google and Wikipedia. I was surprised the day one of my students pointed out them at those places at all, much less so much about me. I guess there's no way to run or hide anymore.
The song was brilliant. No one knew what to make of the film at first, but today it is considered a classic. And a reminder how wide Crawford's range is. She made dramas, comedies, musicals, Westerns, sophisticated pieces ("Susan and God") and slapstick. She's gone down in history as so terrifying but in reality she was surprisingly everyday. As for Peggy Lee, she just began as a genius and stayed that way to the end.
I tried to fight it but damn it i have been sucked in!
Great song a tad spooky, check out Harpers shack its due south of hidden valley it has a reloading bench, a workbench and a campfire a few steps from the front door also has great storage facilities. A perfect home for a wasteland wanderer ;)
Beautiful song....gorgeous...Music by Mr. Victor Young and lyrics by Ms Peggy Lee. Great video and sound. Thank you so much and congratulations Sir Basil.
I haven't been known as "Waynnie," since we were at Alleyn Court Prep School in good ol' Southend on Sea...in Essex...I was so envious of your popularity...until I discovered your penny loafers were so shiny that they reflected up into your trousers...Gov' nor!!!
Wow, thanks for making me feel important... I don't know if I'm that shallow or if you're just a good judge of a character, but yes, I have been singing this tune...a lot.... ;)

Play the guitar, play it again, my Johnny
Maybe you're cold, but you're so warm inside
I was always a fool for my Johnny
For the one they call Johnny Guitar
Play it again, Johnny Guitar
Whether you go, whether you stay, I love you
What if you're cruel, you can be kind I know
There was never a man like my Johnny
Like the one they call Johnny Guitar

After filming, Mercedes McCambridge publicly declared her dislike of Crawford, with McCambridge labeling Crawford, " a mean, tipsy, powerful, rotten-egg lady."
Wonder why she bothered to call her a "lady," after that remark? ouch! Thanks Basil...always spot on!

She actually sounds more like Helen Merrill singing Kurt Weill. Beautiful arrangement and playing by backing musicians too.
