i just read the first chapter of midnight sun and it....BORING and this is how it went

Im really sorry it happened to her but she is the one that gave out the copys. I really wish she would finish the book. I read it and loved it even if it wasnt the final copy. She is letting all her fans down for now finishing it.
As a person who loves to write myself, I would find it upsetting that something I had worked on was put on the internet and I would be mad because it violates my rights. But Stephanie blew this completely out of porportion! Yes it sucks, but you were the person who gave out the copies to people besides your editor and publisher. And it wouldn't stop me from writing. If something so small stopped me, I wouldn't be able to call myself a writer anymore, because I wouldn't deserve it at all.

This is ridiculous, she keeps on changing her story! First she was too sad to carry on with it and now she's saying she got over it in 3 weeks, She's saying she's had enough of Vampires, so what got her writing Midnight Sun in the first place? Surely she couldn't have gotten over Vampires over those 3 short weeks. So what's holding her back? Can someone tell me, cause I don't see.
I really want her to finish the book. I haven't finished reading the "illegal" copy of it, but by the looks of it, its good. If she doesn't, well, I'm happy with Breaking Dawn. It was a good ending, and she did well. It was stupid of the person to post it, but who cares? Stephanie shouldn't have to finish if she doesn't want to. Whew, I think I got it all. But seriously, take it easy on the comments, people. She only wants what's best for the fans of Twilight.
She said that VOLUNTARILY gave out rough copies of the manuscript and she cites trust as the reason. Publisher and editor I get, but why other people? They could've easily waited until publication. Stephenie Meyer is an irresponsible cry-baby, not to mention a HORRIBLE writer. She obviously does not care about this book because artistic vision and creative dedication (and I use those terms very, very loosely) don't diisappear just because someone hurts your feelings.

she has a good reason, that's why after finished reading the books and got an ebook copy of it, I was never tempted to read it. It's still incomplete for me. It doesn't sound so good reading it. ThaT's so bad but I'm hopeful that she would finish it if she has time and hope it would be soon since twilight series is about to finish.
the few chapters i did read were amazing!! i thought of edward as just the goodlooking vampire who loved bella....now i can see what he went through and its very beautiful! stephenie meyers mother even said she should really think about writing it

There is no way it could be made into a movie, but, they could do some scenes from it and add them to the Twighlight Movie. Eg. when Edward is sitting next to Bella in the classroom for the first time, they could shoot to a scene of his thoughts. eg slaying the whole class in seconds then getting Bella. Also where he was when he disappeared for a week and going back Pt Angeles with Carlisle to deal with Bella's attackers. etc. Release it on DVD/blu-ray as a Anniversary Special!!!
Just because one small accident happens, it doesn't mean you should just quit. You have to keep going, no matter what barrier tries to block you. I read it (sorry, couldn't help myself) and I really loved it, even with some typos. Don't hold a grudge and make up a stupid consequence just because it was illegally downloaded online. Forgive that person if you haven't already, because that's what God wants us to do, and go on with the story. Who knows, it could be the most bought book ever.

I totally agree with stephenie, what that person did was wrong, no matter how close s/he was to her and it breaks my heart that she wouldn't consider continuing it since i am a HUGE TWIhard fan and a hopeful author to be. but i still think she should continue with the book, or scrap it all and start over, that way all of her fans could have fresh new material. As much as I hate the Twilight series and Meyer as an author, I think it is generally a bad idea to write a series of books, then basically re-write the first one (or however many) from another character's point of view. Nothing will have change, it's just going to be exactly the same, which is predictable. I'd much rather read a new original piece with different (or the same) characters.
Thank goodness--there are enuff books about Edward and all those pixies and stupid girls with personalities of a wet rag. If I knew who the genius was that put the rough draft out there, I'd gladly shake their hand!

@SAMMYGHURL There's a thing called punctuation. Many people give it credit for helping to end the Dark Ages because it made words on a page comprehensible. You should look into it.
So? Leaks happen and authors are right to bitch about them, but just dump the whole project? I personally hate Twilight, but it's not just my opinion as a hater about this. If you are an author, the only people you should really trust with your work is your publisher and some of the family. Plus the editor.

This is definitely not an issue. This is over-dramatised. Midnight Sun was a ploy to get more money out of a poorly written series by producing an identical book (only from another's perspective). I read it and I must say it was downright terrible. In fact, it really shows how poor a writer she is. Her continuous use of the word 'chagrin' was downright embarrassing. No-wonder she is ashamed of the text.

@rusbc Why is it bad to redo a series or book from a differet point of view? I would love to see the Harry Potter series rewritten from Voldemort or Draco Malfoy's viewpoint.
In case you didn't see, Stephanie said specifically it wasn't edited yet. It wasn't meant to be read for several more rewrites and edits.
When I'm writing, I tend to use certain words too many times, and I don't normally change them until I start revising. As far as I can tell, this is a common practice.
Its not bad to do it in a different view. But Edward is with Bella almost all thorough out the entire book. Doing a view point of Draco would be interesting because in Half-Blood Prince, he was never around. But the difference between J.K. Rowling and S.Meyer, is that Rowling knows when to let the cash cow go -.-

Something as delicate as a novel not yet finnished or editied is something that doesn't even yet feel real to the writer yet, and what this 'friend' of Stephenie's did was put it into the worst reality possible for her--it's almost as if this person broke into her mind and told the world her personal thoughts.

Even though I started reading Twilight in September of '08 and didn't hear about Midnigt Sun until ealier this year but do remember hearing that Stephanie was originally writing the book in Edward's perspective I feel completely sorry for her.

As a person who loves to write myself, I would find it upsetting that something I had worked on was put on the internet and I would be mad because it violates my rights. But Stephanie blew this completely out of porportion! Yes it sucks, but you were the person who gave out the copies to people besides your editor and publisher. And it wouldn't stop me from writing. If something so small stopped me, I wouldn't be able to call myself a writer anymore, because I wouldn't deserve it at all.

I really want her to finish the book. I haven't finished reading the "illegal" copy of it, but by the looks of it, its good. If she doesn't, well, I'm happy with Breaking Dawn. It was a good ending, and she did well. It was stupid of the person to post it, but who cares? Stephanie shouldn't have to finish if she doesn't want to. Whew, I think I got it all. She said that VOLUNTARILY gave out rough copies of the manuscript and she cites trust as the reason. Publisher and editor I get, but why other people? They could've easily waited until publication. Stephenie Meyer is an irresponsible cry-baby, not to mention a HORRIBLE writer. There is no way it could be made into a movie, but, they could do some scenes from it and add them to the Twighlight Movie. Eg. when Edward is sitting next to Bella in the classroom for the first time, they could shoot to a scene of his thoughts. eg slaying the whole class in seconds then getting Bella. Also where he was when he disappeared for a week and going back Pt Angeles with Carlisle to deal with Bella's attackers. etc. Release it on DVD/blu-ray as a Anniversary Special!!!

Just because one small accident happens, it doesn't mean you should just quit. You have to keep going, no matter what barrier tries to block you. I read it (sorry, couldn't help myself) and I really loved it, even with some typos. Don't hold a grudge and make up a stupid consequence just because it was illegally downloaded online. This is a good thing, in my opinion.
As much as I hate the Twilight series and Meyer as an author, I think it is generally a bad idea to write a series of books, then basically re-write the first one (or however many) from another character's point of view. Nothing will have change, it's just going to be exactly the same, which is predictable. I'd much rather read a new original piece with different (or the same) characters.

So? Leaks happen and authors are right to bitch about them, but just dump the whole project? If it was so badly written she admits it, and she just changes the whole plot out of moods, why doesn't she just rewrite that part? Or what's wrong with leaving it as it is? If it actually ruins the reading experience for anyone, it's their fault.
It's only about her and making a drama out of it. She's so heartbroken she will never be able to finish it, boo-hoo. Get over it, Meyer, you're a grown up...

Oh please. Stephenie is an adult, she should act like one. J.K. Rowling had her manuscripts leaked since when(Goblet of Fire?), and did you see her complaining, did you see her decide not to continue writing the HP series?

I personally hate Twilight, but it's not just my opinion as a hater about this. If you are an author, the only people you should really trust with your work is your publisher and some of the family. Plus the editor.

First, pedophilia, there is absolutely no such thing in the books, next time read them instead of just copying things you have heard elsewhere. Second, go to wikipedia for example and look at the definition of a "Mary Sue", Bella is not that, not by a long shot. Kind of agree with you on the Anti-feminism though.

When Jacob asks Quil in Breaking Dawn about other girls, he's surprised to be asked that, b/c he only has eyes for the baby Claire. He spends all his time with Claire after he imprinted because she's going to be his mate. Not only is that pedophilia but it is CHILD GROOMING which is illegal. What with the melodramatic music ? Is not the end of the freaking world. Anyway, i would have been maybe interested to read some stuff about renesmee or whatever her name is but the first book again ? Please, it was only about one thing : how good looking edward is. So what it's going to be now, a whole book about how Bella is fascinating ? Great...Could be interesting though to finally now why such a dull girl gets all the guys to her feet. I mean, really.

This is definitely not an issue. This is over-dramatised. Midnight Sun was a ploy to get more money out of a poorly written series by producing an identical book (only from another's perspective). I read it and I must say it was downright terrible. In fact, it really shows how poor a writer she is. Her continuous use of the word 'chagrin' was downright embarrassing. No-wonder she is ashamed of the text.
I am actually pleased to see that this book was never published.

@rusbc that is the whole reason she didnt want any one to read it yet, it was a rough draft, she is a great writer and whoever posted the chapters online was a moron, now real fans wont get the chance to enjoy it. i never read the unfinished copy because i knew it wouldnt be good everyone should have been patient and waited for the real thing.

@rusbc Why is it bad to redo a series or book from a differet point of view? I would love to see the Harry Potter series rewritten from Voldemort or Draco Malfoy's viewpoint.
In case you didn't see, Stephanie said specifically it wasn't edited yet. It wasn't meant to be read for several more rewrites and edits.
When I'm writing, I tend to use certain words too many times, and I don't normally change them until I start revising. As far as I can tell, this is a common practice.

Its not bad to do it in a different view. But Edward is with Bella almost all thorough out the entire book. Doing a view point of Draco would be interesting because in Half-Blood Prince, he was never around. But the difference between J.K. Rowling and S.Meyer, is that Rowling knows when to let the cash cow go -.-

@rusbc I agree that this vid was totally over-dramatised, but it's still awful to take something so fragile from a trusting friend and then put it in front of millions of eyes. Something as delicate as a novel not yet finnished or editied is something that doesn't even yet feel real to the writer yet, and what this 'friend' of Stephenie's did was put it into the worst reality possible for her--it's almost as if this person broke into her mind and told the world her personal thoughts.

I feel so bad for her. The person who did this was horrible they didn't think how it would affect Stephanie or her readers. Even though I started reading Twilight in September of '08 and didn't hear about Midnigt Sun until ealier this year but do remember hearing that Stephanie was originally writing the book in Edward's perspective I feel completely sorry for her.

i knew about the leaked chapters but i decided no i wasn't going to read them as it would spoil the book for me. as a writer myself i understand what she is going through. the first draft of a book isn't completely right, you still want to play around with the story. you want to see how many twist and turns you can find in the story. i feel sorry for steph and i cried at your video cos i truly know how she feels
