  • hey guys! what will happen if you got a virus on your windows?? or perhaps its crashes down.. will mac os be affected?

  • @althegreat17

Think of it as actually using a normal Windows computer. At the end of the day, yes.

  • Vista sucked ball and i couldent wait! its too late i got a mac! its too late!!!!

  • To do a small bit more things than with Mac OS X. :)

  • But I'd say you should only buy a Mac if you're not playing games at all. Because if you do, you'll most likely have to install Windows on it and then the Mac is not worth the money in my opinion.

  • you make no sense at all. you cant buy a windows computer and install osx on it if you wanted to that runs 100% native. i have a mac book, i love mac and have been a long time pc user. but i do like to play me some counterstrike and a lot of other steam games so when i wanna do that i just start up in windows, and no i used a torrent so i payed 0 $ for vista. mac is so damn good it can run windows better than a pc can. fucking hilarious. how can you defend windows when i can run it on my mac lol

  • How can you even say that I defended Windows when I didn't?

Find a good reason to write something before you write shit, seriously...

  • nigga.... suck my dick. then swallow. your life is now complete

  • I'm sorry, but I think I'm not your type. I'm not gay. Sorry.

My life indeed is complete, I'm done with it and only 17 years old. ;>

  • we can still be together. and you can never say your not till you try it. please be with me forever!

  • because the fastest laptop to run vista is a MacBook Pro

  • Even my mum's laptop runs Vista better than my MacBook Pro. :|

  • there are games u cant play on mac os x

  • @phibzONE and there are games you cant play in windows

  • @WilliamDanoldWard Like what? Console exclusives? There are even pc emulators for that!

  • I Love how you tell me that I cannot read, but you can't even spell. "HATS" don't you mean thats?

  • your sounding like you are judging from how you are writing your sentence.

  • you know dont judge a computer b4 you have tried it. Macs and Windows-in my opinion, cannot be compared. They are both GREAT and used for many different things

  • OK so can you play windows games on the mac after you boot camp it???

  • yes all exe files will work... anything that works with vista will work on the mac as long as u lad with vista and anything that works on mac will work on the mac as long as u lad the comp with mac

  • No, Thats not stupid he has both processors and its much quicker and if he gets viruses he just go on the mac side and eliminate all with out having the "losing your comp for a week" Problem its much quicker, Cooler and has all the exclusive mac app and all the PCs Ones

  • OMG! Windows is so much quicker on a mac! :D

  • im using windows vista home premium on a hp pavilion laptop 2gb ram core 2 duo and it runs just as fast

  • Does it always have to appear on login? I'm thinking about installing it but if I had to select which OS to boot every time I turned on my Mac I think it would annoy me. I have a windows laptop anyways lol.

  • No, if you don't hold down the alt/option key it will just start-up into your preferred OS

  • what?

  • boot camp is best for games

  • Comment removed

  • @mahothegrand but after having bootcamp you can still choose if you want to use osx or windows ?? you can have both at the same time ??

  • i need a little help.. i deleted the windows xp partition cause i got vista.. now when i try to make a new partition it wont make one... it says i have to reformat drive to mac os x journaled. but the problem is i dont have a second mac or a external hard drive... any suggestions?

  • No, once you partition a drive you cannot go back and reparation, you should of simply formatted the partition, and reinstalled vista on that partition.

  • The fastest vista computer is a mac!!

  • wait. tiger doesnt have bootcamp. unless tiger was installed to a seperate partition and you just rebooted to boot camp

  • I recorded this when I they had Boot Camp as a beta for Tiger before they released Leopard

  • Its funny because you bought a computer like £1000 and then you put vista on it where you can get better laptops or computers from somewhere else

  • Its not for use as the primary OS. its just so games e.t.c can be run. Also proof of concept.

  • first of all i have no macbook(but going to buy 1) i have a quastion:

i want to play a game on it but the said i can't play it on mac O SX only on windows (or boot camp) can i just download it on my macbook and then just easy start boot camp and play it then? (and when i'm done set it back to my OS X?)

  • yes

  • If you install Windows Vista on your Macbook Pro, can you then take it off if you don't want it?

  • yes, just open up boot camp assist and u can restore it back to normal.

  • Its great if you know what your doing.

Install bootcamp on your mac computer.

    follow instuctions.

then run it while following instuctions and your good.

I use windows vista homebasic on my mac and windows xp persefsinol on it.

  • so if you have a vista computer and you get a mac mini and install it. Can you still use the windows vista side?

  • does all of the multitouch functionality of the macbooks trackpad still work? i.e. two fingers to "right click"/scroll, etc. thanks!

  • Everything works in the multiouch functionality except right click in windows vista requires two fingers on the trackpad and a click of the trackpad bar rather than being able to "two-finger tap". Other than that it functions the same as in OSX.

  • can I use my Vista Recovery Media disk to install Vista using Boot Camp?

  • No. This will not work as the recovery disk is tied to the windows pc it came with. This will erase your mac osx partition and leave just windows on your machine.

  • darn. I really need Windows at this point. And yes, I know about other Windows and Mac programs.

  • hey where do you get the video card drivers, i cant play battlefield 2

  • hey i've got the imac and i want vista to play pc games. i didn't knew that you can instal windows on a mac computer

  • how did youmake the dock so clear?

  • That's a program called 'Clear Dock' made by software developer unsainity. It's free but only works up until 10.4 (Tiger). I searched a little for a way to do it in leopard and found a way quite easily that doesn't even require an app, just google for it.

  • if you run boot camp, can you still get viruses on the windows side?

  • yes.

  • that answer doesn't sound right. Macs don't have a drive "C:" which is where the virus attacks, so what you talking about?

  • He asked about the windows side, and yes you can get a virus on that side, simply because you're running windows just like you would on any PC. The windows side still maintains a "C" drive when you use bootcamp. Bootcamp makes your mac run EXACTLY as if it were a windows-type PC. You boot the computer in windows. Trust me, im running vista bootcamp on a mac pro right now, ive had 2 viruses so far lol.

  • i have a question PLEASE reply

    using bootcamp to run vista

can u play games on it like on the regular vista?

  • Definitely.

  • yes. It's a wonderful thing. look around youtube for demos of PC games running on these macbooks. Why even buy a PC anymore?

  • haha thank you very much for replying

  • Can I run Windows Live messenger with a webcam on an a Mac Book with Boot Camp??

    Please help me :)

  • Yes, and for any future questions, please know that Vista runs natively in Boot Camp, meaning it can do and acts the same exact way any windows PC does.

  • You won't get any of those gay ass windows viruses, will you?!! I've had Unreal Tournament 3 now, and I still haven't been able to play it. Can I download this, or do I have to buy it?

I have the macbook pro. Brand new, and I'm using it for college courses, so I need to know if there are any viruses involved and where to get this.

  • I've never had any viruses personally, it is possible, but if you have at least some simple virus protection like avast, I think you should be fine.

  • there is only 3 known viruses for macs out of the 570000 pc viruses

  • thats why there are internet security suites

  • can you play pc games desgined for windows with this?

  • Yes, windows runs as in a normal PC. It can even get infected by a virus LOL... So you have to get a good anti virus as well

  • can you only acess the partitioned disk space on each hard drive? like if i partition 10GB on a 250GB drive for Vista, can Vista only use that 10GB?

  • Yes, Vista can only use that 10GB using boot camp.

  • Does it ask you which operating system you want to run on every start up?

  • It's up to you. You can specify how you want it to boot in the Boot Camp preferences. You can select the option to choose each time you boot, or you can choose to start up in Windows or Mac each time you start up. If you choose one to automatically boot up with and you want to use the other OS, I think you just hold down the Option or Shift key just after pressing the on button.

  • ok thanks :)

  • so... if i boot camp can i play games for pc and windows' please anwser

  • Yep, it's like you're running a Windows PC itself. Anything you could do on a PC with the specs of the Mac will run nearly the same way on your Windows partition of Boot Camp.

  • THANKS!!

  • only when running windows

  • you dont know what bootcamp is. scram little one

  • Beat it, kid.

  • does vista run exactly the same on a mac as it does on a pc, like everything is 100% compatible.....and it uses all the hardware properly?

  • Yes. The only thing I couldn't get to work is clicking with the touch pad rather than the button.

  • who wold want vista on their mac!!!!!

    OMG

  • wat is the point. MAC is much better then VISTA

  • the os from apple sucks vista is better

  • Have you actually used Mac OS?

    Jesus Christ ...

  • yes i have, my friend has a macbook i like that design from apple but i don't like the OS

  • Christi1992 you must be a windows fanboy/girl, you probably have not ran OS X 10.4 or 10.5.

yea OS X suck so badly that both 10.4 and 10.5 can run smoothly on a old G4 533 with 768mb ram and a Geforce 2 AGP card. lets see vista do that ? humm it cant.

OS X is a awesome OS, so dont knock it untill you have actually used it.

  • WRONG!

  • how did you make it dual boot up?

  • In Mac OS

    run Boot Camp in Programs/Utilities

  • How much space in terms of gb did you dedicate to Vista? I'm not too sure how much to put yet.

  • hey is it possible to change macbook to full vista like everything goes to vista if not should i get a toshiba m300

  • Um, in my opinion that is a stupid question to ask. Of course you can install Vista over Leopard and just have Vista, but that kind of destroys the point in having a mac..

Go for the Toshiba if you only want to run Vista

  • how did you get vista for it ?

  • I purchased a vista disc at best buy.

  • can you adjust the resolution on the macbook for vista?

  • If you are talking screen resolution, yes, you have all the options of any windows vista computer.

  • or useless instead.

  • how? xp would have at least one virus at the first boot. vista doesnt get viruses

  • Is it recommended that you play Windows games(like the Sims) using bootcamp on your 1st generation white Macbook(with Leopard)?

  • what the hell kinda question is that, is it bloody recommended, who the hell would sit and think about it and come to the conclusion of " humm i think that playing sim's 2 on mac book with boot camp is much better than not going throght the hasle of just playing it on a pc"

  • Well maybe I get a discount on PC games and I don't own any PC computers. Thats the answer to your "bloody" question

  • haha, soz mate you make my laugh, but yeah i'll stop

  • Thank you

  • just ask someone else that question at the apple store instead of the guy who told you that, and see what they say.

  • I've gotten proof from both myself and another Applestore salesman. Yes, you can run Vista on a Macbook, the other guy was wrong unless he failed to mention the specs.

Anyway, the only thing that bugs me about Vista on the Macbook: It's a resource hog and uses up lots of battery power.

  • why would you want to, apart from playing games, you could just stick with mac, if you put vista on there you would end up having your mac book crash all the time, and in the end you would just stick with mac, btw i have a pc i know, i have never own3d a mac, but still...

  • lol vista doesnt crash, xp does

  • vista crashs too

  • ur retarded, without sp1 it would crash all the time, but with smart computing skills and service pack 1, its fine. im now using mac os x so i never need to worry about viruses again XD

  • dumbass. macs can get viruses too. there just arent as much viruses for them. but macs rule.

  • yeah but theyre not as common obviously. they come along like once every ten years, so i really dont need to worry i guess. even if i do get one, its not the end of the world lol. i had xp a year and a half ago and i had like a million viruses that wouldn't disappear. vista was an amazing experience though, it looks awesome, no viruses, no errors, but ive always wanted a macbook pro, so i finally got one. one day ill run vista in vmware when they support aero.

  • There are no Viruses as of now.

Which doesn't mean that there won't be any for every ... but right now you're very, very safe on a Mac.

  • Actually there are NO Viruses as of no.

Only one "Trojan" I know of.

    And that's not a virus.

  • OK, I don't know if you can help but anyway: I'm considering getting a Macbook myself, however I'm told by the guy at the Apple store who sold my father his Macbook, that installing a non-English language Windows version in Bootcamp is not recommended. I can't really believe it, because I couldn't find anything on it. So, is it true or a myth, that I should only install an English language Windows through Bootcamp? I'm asking because I want to stay dual platform without two different computers.

  • And also, all I have is Windows XP OEM in Spanish (which I can't install because of the hardware lock, even though I had my current computer built from scratch), and Windows Vista Business Retail, also in Spanish.

  • Wouldn't make sense for it to be only English exclusive. I think it will be fine to install non-English languages in Boot Camp. All Boot Camp really is is a boot manager for loading Mac OS and Windows.

  • Thanks for the response. That's also what I was thinking, but still, it makes me suspicious. Anyway, hopefully this Friday I'll get myself that Macbook I wanted to buy, will clarify with the dealer and try to install my copy of Vista (which means that on my current PC, I'll only run Windows XP, as it is OEM and I'm not sure if I can even activate XP OEM it on the Macbook without having to call the MS callcentre).

  • You can install OEM copies of Windows on any computer as long as they aren't "brand-locked" (like Dell's stuff). I installed my Compaq Windows XP on another computer when I bought Vista.

  • ive read that about the dell but i used my dell restore OEM disks on 2 of my home built pcs and it works fine altho if you go into sys props it says my pcs are dell lol but no probs all activated any everything.

  • Has any person had a problem with windows on their mac? i'm scared to put windows on my mac because it might crash haha.

  • With boot camp, no. I've installed XP then upgraded it to Vista Business with SP 1 and it runs fine. But when I try to run it under VMWare Fusion, it is slow as hell!. Use Boot Camp.

  • When you install Windows on your Mac, your Mac acts as a PC. So if your other PC crashes and you do everything exactly the same, the Mac will crash. Fortunately, what you do in Windows does not affect Mac OS X in any way.

  • Ok, Let me clarify, UAC on a Macintosh, Is not only helpful, but it makes sense when Finder asks you for your USERNAME and PASSWORD.

On Windows, Microsoft failed. and it only asks you for your PASSWORD.

If you PC fucks can't go get a goddamn mac, that fuck off with this bullshit comments.

Vista OWNS XP, Don't even try me, You people still like using stone-age shit, eh?

  • Also.. a tip for vista users... do NOT buy antivirus like norton and install it on your vista machine... windows will say that you dont have antivirus, but vista has its own built in system. it just wants a second one for backup... use windows defender -- its built into vista... so dont worry about antivirus -- it will give you a HUGE speedboost once you get rid of it. -- just like OSX you dont require antivirus because Vista is surprisingly resistant to such attacks.

  • Somebody really hate UAC. UAC is designed for help user getting away from virus or spyware. Remember, you also need enter your password when you trying to install software on a Mac (that means you still need to approve installation like UAC). It is nothing different than UAC. By all means, UAC is designed for help user.

  • UAC SUCKS!!! The first thing i do when i install vista is turn off UAC (and windows defender and that stupid sidebar) then put on a good av program like avg or threatfire. Much less annoying an intrusive.

  • You're totaly wrong!

If your antivirus making your mac/pc slow, than that's good! (search google for explanation)

Windows Defender is just a simple free antivirus program, but nog good enough to stop all virusess...

Just because it's free, doesn't mean it's good!

  • The UAC in Vista is annoying, at least Mac is like Linux with it's UAC. It only asks you for your username and password when it's necessary.

  • only when it runs on a mac

on a pc it is a piece of shit

  • not really, my PC (Pentium D + 1G) runs Vista smoothly. You are biased.

  • what do u run, an nlited 32 bit version of vista home basic, and its stiil slow

  • it is highly depends on how you configure your system. If you have all those junk programs, then system will be slow. use msconfig, configure you system, uncheck those unnecessary program, your computer will be much faster.

  • thanks for the tip but im running an imac with mac osx ONLY

  • hahha get a macbook pro and then run vista on it... and then your pc will look slightly slow... i was amazed... and just to tell u that im not BIASED -- i have been a windows fan for about 8 years. i just last month swithched to a mac PC.. and about them... well i like thier hardware - it's more powerful... but i stil dont like thier OS. i prefer windows so i instialled it via bootcamp. and now im really happy cuz it runs really fast.

  • true, Mac looks really nice. It's like a pretty girl that you just want touch it. Therefore, i got an Macbook ( i really want an iMac, but i am tied in money). The reason i get Macbook is design and some features that Mac OS X provided. Other reason is i am getting tired of Windows. 10 years of Windows experience makes me tired. So i want try something new to me.

  • Same. Also, I am getting fed up with the glitches in Vista and even XP.

  • you must be mad. completely out of your zone...!

  • windows vista shit

  • How shit it is?

  • i was wondering if this would work... are you running a 32 bit or 64 bit version? (of vista)

  • 32 bit, at the time I started using boot camp there was no 64 bit support, but i'm not sure, they might have that now...

  • i have windows on 1 of my computers and mac on another, how can i get the xp on my windows to my mac for boot camp? i no longer have the cd's

  • Sadly, I don't believe this is possible. Even with your XP installation disc, you would have used up your license. Every operating system installation disc comes with only 1 license, so its a 1 time use kind of thing. If you really want XP or Vista on your mac via boot camp, it looks like you'll just have to buy a new XP or Vista disc.

  • o..k thank you for responding

  • You Need the CD.

  • do you put anything in during the partition. whenever i try it says Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again. please help

  • i'm al little confused, is your Macintosh HD not formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)? I believe it comes that way standard.

If it is formatted a different way, i would say try doing what it tells, back up all your information to a separate disk, and restore it back on once you use disk utility to "enable journaling" on your macintosh HD. Trying boot camp again afterwards

Comment or email me if you still have troubles.

  • how can i check if my disc is OS Extended (journaled) cuz i really actually dont know. also, how would i back it up on a seperate disc

  • open disk utility, click 'Macintosh HD' on he right, and look to see at the bottom, if the format is OS extended (journaled). Do you own an external hard drive to back up to?

  • i dont think i have an external drive

  • is your Macintosh HD format correct? do you have another computer you can move your files to?

  • Use a dvd. It can replace a external harddrive. But you need like 12 or something. Each disc is about 4.8GB. Empty dvd costs around a buck each. Plus tax. Bad thing is you have to sit in front of ur mac and keep on feeding it the dvds.

  • my macbook is the bomb

    it has

2.4 GBz intel core 2 dup

    4Gbs RAM

    & 250 Gbs

it has boot camp with windows vista ultimate install

    i love it

  • do u need the windows cd to get boot camp

  • yeah i have the same macbook as you except yours is probably black and mine is white...

    and my HDD is 160GB

  • and i have windows xp running parallels via bootcamp...i like the 4 gbs of ram :)

  • is it complicated to install vita on the macbook?

  • Not really, you just go on Bootcamp, and the wizard will guide you through the steps..

  • No you have to buy vista and leopard because it brings boot camp if you havnt upgraded OSX but on a mac book its garbage MBP is better but i wish macbooks had nvidia then we'll talk : D

  • do you have to buy vista first?? or is it already installed??

  • you must buy it first, sorry.

  • i love apple but how could Microsoft said yes??????

  • to get more business and 17 million more dollars for bill gates

  • Urmmm when you say 'Macs' I assume you refer to the hardware? How is the hardware of an Apple Macintosh any different from a computer from any other creator? They don't blow magic Apple dust on the motherboard before they sell it. A computer is a computer.

  • +1 for vodouman.

  • I like your playing btw

  • well, macs are better built. they are definitely not as flimsy as most PCs, and some people believe they look better as well. Mac operating system sucks, so they solved the problem^

  • I wonder if it would be a good idea to get a macbook pro for college, of what about the alienware M15x?

  • I am a freshman in college, and i bought a pc in the fall. Over the course of the year i realized how much more useful macs are. So now i am trying to get rid of the pc (Hp pavillion dv6000) As long as you are NOT into games, get the MacBook Pro. If you are, look into aliennware(made by dell) or dell XPS)

  • The alienware laptop is more overpriced than Macs, and the battery life is about 1 hour. And it'll fry your nuts.

  • Mac OS X rocks. But all the companies seem to make games for PCs cuz more ppl have them.

  • I bet macs can run windows better than a pc can!
