I used a dremmel disk with cutting compound to start .... then I *did* use toothpaste as a fine abrasive.
Not as perfect as the professionally cut ends ...... but hey ...... we can only do what we can do eh ?

How did you polish the ends of the PMMA? I had marginal success with toothpaste, but never got it perfect...
