Hey bro I posted a video response of my own recording from the other day which is a bit closer to the original. I am mainly posting it just so people can have something to contrast it to and get an idea of your own creative skills in this instance. I enjoy your passion for this kind of music and your creativity and most importantly the fun you have playing the bass! Keep up the good work and good vibe my man!
I have this song on my ipod...and the tempo is way slower...anyway..I challenge you bass players to Play Isaac Hayes' "what does it take" bass cover...post videos...good luck...
i love your vids! the are great! you really want to challange yourself, do some rocco prestia or jamerson. rocco's sticatto 16th stuff is just insane.
Thank you a lot for your viideo, I love this song, but now much more with your awesome playing. In fact, which version is this one? Because I have the cold sweat album and it is much more slow. I am trying to follow you on my bass, and again I want to give you thanks because I am learning this song. I am a Rookie on bass and I appreciate very much your video. Best Regards and please, continue with more videos
i have that same bass, it is amazing...first bass i have ever owned...and i have to say it means every standard u can honestly ask for in a jazz bass...good job on the cover man.
I listened to the original version of this song and this bass line should be used instead of the original. This bass line is just awesome!!!! Nice job. Thumbs up for you.
love that funk! I enjoy watching your vids because they are entertaining adn you're enjoying yourself. You inspire me so much Im asking for a bass for christmas and my birthday. i tried guitar but i really think that bass is for me!
nice nice nice!! david ,you rock! wen i started playing bass i learner everything from your vids and saying im already playing bas 1 and a half year!! thanks for making these vids,i love all the ''RHCP'' songs you put on youtube, i learnerd them to play, all of them :D but thanks anyway
James Brown is a freaking Legend, he was so strict on his band, one mistake would cost 'em money, doesn't matter what the mistake was, missing just a single note by not paying attention. And he loves improvisation, and David i must say you'd made him proud.
Haha, you know the best part is, yesterday i watched a 2 hour lasting documentaire of James Brown and i was amazed, and i've been watching your movies for a while now and i really enjoy how much you get into it. Keep 'em coming man and i'll keep enjoying them :)
Just a quick question aswell: Got any favorite Bassist perhaps? (I myself love the work of Mark King)
I've got plenty favourite bassists, but if I had to choose only some of them I would say Stuart Zender, Michael "Flea" Balzary, Marcus Miller and Pino Palladino!
You appear to be playing an old Fender Musicmaster short scale bass guitar. Did you replace the stock pick up? If so, what pick up have you put in the bass. Great job playing. I want to purchase the replacement for the Fender Musicmaster (which is now sold as the Squier Bronco Bass guitar).
Dude, I'd love to hear you play stuff from the Motown catalog, and there's an awful lot of killer Beatles stuff out there too. Paul McCartney is a seriously underrated bass player, and guys like James Jamerson and Bob Babbitt wrote the book on modern bass playing.
If I knew French(?) I could understand ALL the comments and I hope you know English enough to understand this: Dude's bass playing is very entertaining and interesting, but is he LOCKING IT DOWN? Could a drummer lock into this to create a groove. The sped up track confuses me. Dude sometimes runs ahead of the track, misses the very important ONE at the top of the bar and muddles a few runs. I really appreciate the rock adaptation of JB Funk, but I'd love to hear a versatile DavidSinGROOVE.
(Speaking formal because I like to by the way. My class assignment.)
Nice playing dude! before I see this vid I though your viewers got so easily impress, or they have never pick up a bass but now I see you've got some serious skills!
