@benjak21 Yes, Zeitgeist is communicating more viewpoints, especially ones that people don't think about- most particularly religion.Religion is the main social institution that people don't like to question/analyze because faith proves their devotion. If someone is raised to believe something based on their socialization (family,culture, etc.) they will find it difficult to accept other religions and/or perpestives, but if they are exposed to other views they can choose what's true to them.

With that, the details expressed may not be valid to you because of your history and/or religious exposure so you are entitled to that belief. The overall points are made though, religions were once ideas that grew and progressed into other things and expanded across the world into different religions. Zeitgeist serves to open you to the option of staying with those beliefs or awakening.

The only thing which that part of Zeitgeist did for me was to have me find out how wrong it was on the topic of religion, which brought with it harsh scrutiny as to the motivations of the entire film. The first part of the film seems ironic if only to claim amidst lies, that the only purpose of religion is to control.

Moreover, the video's claims against Jesus's birthday are misleading, as it's commonly known that it most definitely isn't on that day and that Christians adopted that date to share a common holiday with pagans, making it easier for pagans to acclimate. This video claims that there's actually a single religious origin explaining why it's Dec 25.

The creators of Zeitgeist had access to the same sources and information as anyone else, especially those in the field. They then used discredited sources, false claims and outright lies for their own motives.

This movie is founded on discredited sources, most of which are a century old (the golden-age of Jesus-myth theory), and not original ones.
Many of the movie's claims about the Bible are made up, as are the attributes given to the other myth-gods in order to appear more convincing.
For example, the "southern cross" wasn't recognized until the 1600's; before that it was part of Centaurus.

@benjak21 Yes, Zeitgeist is communicating more viewpoints, especially ones that people don't think about- most particularly religion.Religion is the main social institution that people don't like to question/analyze because faith proves their devotion. If someone is raised to believe something based on their socialization (family,culture, etc.) they will find it difficult to accept other religions and/or perpestives, but if they are exposed to other views they can choose what's true to them.
