Two weeks ago i first played and finished ICO, and i finished this game yesterday. It left me dazed for a couple of hours. Beautiful story, amazing soundtrack. They did everything right with this game, 10/10.

Ow, and my favourite colossi would be number 13, the flying bad-ass in the desert and the huge gorilla-like mofo number 15. The final colossus was a let down, it was too easy for my taste, killed it in my first try. But the ending, so beautiful... Now please hurry with The Last Guardian!

This game has so much of what other games lack.

Soul.

The way it pulled you into this love story, with a small sliver of hope, and then took it away, created so much emotion throughout the game. If you put all of the spectacular gameplay, graphics, and action aside, it's a wonderful story.

That's what separates SOTC from all other games, and makes it unique and unforgettable to all who have the honor of playing it.

You know what makes me sad about this? One of the theories about what happened to Mono is that she became the Queen from ICO. Another add-on is that when Dormin is "revived" in Wander's body, he speaks with just the male voice, instead of the usual male and female; so the female aspect of Dormin may have been revived in Mono, thus explaining her evil/darkness as the Queen. Lastly, since the horned boys are descended from Wander, it just makes it sadder that his "blood" kills the Queen :C

So these dudes made the colossi to seal away the Dormins power.... and that black stuff that comes out of the colossi is the Dormin's essence.... And when all of the colossi are defeated, their essence recollects in the "Wanderer", and that's their true form? THAT IS SO BADASS.

[continuation] (taking in consideration that wander is not). the bridges falling in the end, the castles in both of them... there is more, a deep meaning, maybe relationed to the personal psyché of the author... like the gyigas case.

do'nt you think that there is something nteresting? not only the relations between a game and other but its metaphorical details. in both of them, the female figure get imprisioned, the protagonist keep an emotional relationship with her. its not only a matter of artistic style. the female protagonists of both games don't barely express a word. both of them are unable to fight. and both of them are close to the same age. and think, why the protagonists are not adults [continues]

@mojometalhead3 Watch your grip guage when climbing the colossi if it starts to get low (the circle in the bottom right corner gets smaller) you need to find a place to rest, if you go up the back their are some ledges you could crouch and rest there to rebuild your grip guage circle strength before going up higher to the top. remember not to let go of the grip button (Triangle) when climbing otherwise you will lose your grip and fall. Once on top, switch to the sword, and find a weak spottostab

Just get on the colossus' feet then stab your sword a few times till it drops its hand. climb its hand, reach it's head and then stab again your sword as how many times till you kill it.

acctually there was a alternate ending you have to have a ico save file but the team that made this game scrap it because it was unfair for those who havent played ico

The Dormin fail in their revenge against these guys and there is no alternate ending. It's to "demonstrate the futility of the situation or something"

Interpretation comes down to each players view of the game and the actions taken, especially during the endings.

@StoneMonkWisdom I once read that when you get on top of the secret garden, you eat the forbiden fruit and your energy meter start to decrace untill it gets verry small. Then you have to play as Dormin in this level and get killed to get an alternate ending.

Anybody tried that?

Sorry, no alternate ending. You can climb up to the secret garden and decrease your grip and hp gauge by eating the fruit there, but it doesn't effect the ending. The Dormin mode ends when you are at half hp, no matter what.

I just found out that wander sires the line of horned boys. And the boy on ico is a descendant. The worlds are the same too, shadow of the colossus just takes place at an unspecified time before ico. The shadowy figures are connected to the ones in ico as well, fumito ueda said it in an interview i think around 2006.

Ummm, Wander never got hit by the colossi. That was the whole point. Avoid all blows. The ending however you can hit those guys, but they get right back up. Not happening.

The ending is set in stone, as if to let you know your efforts are futile. Giving you a sense of "hopelessness" as it overtakes you. Technically, Wander is reborn as a baby, but his consciousness may have indeed been lost... if so then it can be considered "death" of his original self.

Ico came out first, then Shadow of the Colossus. It's evident they take place in the same world and the horned boy in Ico could be a descendant of the "(Spoilers)" in Shadow of the Colossus.

It's also hinted that there are connections between Ico and Shadow of the Colossus spoken in an interview regarding SOTC.

Ico isn't so much a sequel as it's only apart of the same world with a completely different story.

No, the game gives you a false sense of hope before it dashes it away to pieces and gives you the one true ending. This ending implies that Shadow of the Colossus is a prequel to Ico, to some degree.

I never found any aspect of this game confusing, and the story is clear to me. The way the story is presented is what will cause confusion to some gamers. Still, there is a lot of gameplay goodness so understanding the story isn't neccessary.

I believe she is recently deceased, and Wander is attempting to use a forbidden spell to resurrect her in the forbidden land by killing all the sacred idols. However, Wanders soul and body go through hell as the Dormin possess him more and more after each colossus falls. Time period is irrelevant and maybe it's not even earth but simply another world. It's obviously a prequel to Ico though. Wander loves her and will do anything for her.
