if your amp as a 20 amp fuse in it you should be running a 20 amp or more power supply. when you crank it the power supply will kick out if its doesnt push as much amps. i run a 20 watt power supply on a 30 fuse amp and ive had it pop twice.
i took all the yellow wires and wound them together to use all the power sources from the supply same with black
I got it to work. my psu has a safety feature. it has to use both 12v and 5v for it to power my amp otherwise the psu will turn off. so I connected to my computer and used one of the extra cables that werent being used to power the amp and voila amp stayed on
ey I know how to do this shit too check out my recent vid lol. My very recent vid, my psu tripped due to too much draw. But it actually takes about 20 seconds to restart.
then tie it to the one that corresponds with the green one on the chart...i.e. what ever is in the same spot as where the green would've been...honestly tho just experiment just don't electrocute yourself
holy crap thanks man that helped so much today i went out (i was planning to do this a long time ago but messed up) and got a nice anp and hooked up my 14 ichers and blasted the hell out of my basement walls thanks alot.
when i had my system in my house, granted the amp wasnt homemade but im sure ittl be the same i didnt have it grounded either... you only have to run the wires as shown in the diagram to the amp. then the speaker wire to the subs and thats it. good luck
no you wont need a capacitor...the only thing is dont keep it plugged in..what i did was just twist the wires together and used electrical tape so its not very fire safe....but i didnt have any problems with mine other then my psu kept tripping on certain songs because its was a really low wattage.. but yea you should be fine. when you turn it on make sure ur protective circuit light isnt light or else you can mess stuff up in your amp. mine wasnt on at all. good luck
gotta question, ive got a homemade amp with a converter of some sort with a ordinary plug but the thing is i can't figure out how to ground the amp?? any ideas?
i have a 545 watt psu and a 600 watt amp.i probobly won't turn it up all of the way so i will probly only use 400 watts, DO I NEED A CAPACITOR, i don't want to mess anything up cause i have put alot of money into this "project", i could have bought a house amp lol. but i can't figure out the capacitor, yes/no?. help is greatly appretiated.

its not a matter of how many watts that the psu has it the matter of how many amps are on the 12+ rail
and to keep it simple you dont have to extract the 12+ power out of the 20/24pin motherboard conector instead just simple use the molex conectors.
Cool video
