  • I agree that men have pressure also, but I don't think people should hate this video just cuz it targets girls. I'm a size 8 or so pants, and I don't look fat when i look in the mirror, but when i look around me, I'm a fat ass. I know I'm not skinny, but why is skinny pretty? In the olden days, if you were skinny, that was a bad thing, cuz you didn't have enough to eat. I like this video because it makes me feel like I'm not alone.

  • its sad that true beauty is hidden within a skin...

  • I need SOO much self-esteem

  • This made me start to cry, because of what t's the media's idea of beauty is. People tell me I am pretty, but I hate my body and face.

  • i cant believe that society has set the type of image shown today of what beauty should look like to young girls and women. honestly nobody is perfect even the models in magazines it all photoshop and makeup. beauty isnt based off how thin you are, how much makeup you wear, and if we are flawless. beauty is found in a persons flaws and on the inside

  • First I was like awww.

    Then I was like WHOA!!

Now I'm like 'gotta do something to save our kids from the horrors of the advertisement industry!'

  • does anyone know what the name of the song is?

  • Just as much pressure on guys but once again who gives a shit about men.

  • I am so AGGRAVATED by people that are constantly blaming SKINNY people for the media's distortion of beauty. Skinny people are affected by the media's distortion of beauty, just like overweight, fat, or morbidly obese people. These days, the media is teaching girls like me, that no matter what, you'll never be good enough.

  • This makes me so sad to see what has happened to society

  • shes pretty the way she is, and she is just an adorable child. every child deserves that right to be thought of as adorable. even if they have a face only a mother could love

  • @MelavaXP When it comes to the beauty industry, women do have it tougher. It's a fact. Men face problems, but when it comes to beauty, it's not at all to the extent of women. Women are encouraged to forever be young and perfect, men have to be tough and providing. It's a sad society. And do you honestly believe that women don't have self esteem issues "down there", women can't be nerdy, women get beat up emotionally, and women have a lot of pressure to be the perfect girlfriend?

  • Isn't it fucked up that women must be skinny, have perfect eyebrows and skin, and lined, defined eyes in order to be beautiful? If a woman does not wear eyeliner and have flawless skin, it's immediately deemed ugly. On top of it all, we have these ads that aren't even REAL. It's an impossible, not even human, standard of beauty. Our girls at a young age see this, of course they're going to have self esteem issues! The media wants us to feel like crap, day in and day out... this is an ugly world.

  • i watched this in class. then we watched dove onslaght(er). i recommend watching both.

  • really good advert this is why i HATE SOME BEAUTY PRODUCTS!! they dont work! always!

  • I hate the pressure to feel I need to be better and maintain a certain image, I'm 14 and can't go 10 minutes without thinking of something to make myself better. I just wanna be a little kid again, like 3 years old when I had no worries what so ever.

  • What is this song??? I need it!

  • dove, natural beauty, does I'm sorry, not belong to you either

  • This video is just amazing. Does anyone know what song this is?

  • Did you know You can see over 300 beauty advertisements a day.

  • Sound: Vapor, Song: La Breeze, by Simian

    says so in the description...

  • it is a sad world we live in

  • To all who asked the name of the song / music: Simian - La Breeze ;-)

  • men don't have this problem

  • ginger kids, it can happen to you too!

  • I love the music and sounds in this ad. Dove dropped this campaign now though, they thought it was failing. They don't really care about the media corrupting young girls, they want profits.

  • @JoshRoweice If the ad campaign was failing, that means people weren't listening to it. Apparently it's not just Dove who doesn't care about us falling victim to beauty pressure - it's also us.

  • What a cute little girl.

  • i watched this in class, we are like wow!!!! why would people to do this to there bodies. We are a girls school

  • Very powerful message to fight the media's message that we are never good enough as is.

  • women were meant to be objectified, it's human nature. Deal with it.

  • @TheSjpatrik I love how everyone just ignores you, must feel like real life to you. Now, this doesn't count as I was merely pointing out how everyone ignores you, you could say i'm still ignoring you.

  • Song?

  • @bugsocks "La Breeze" by Simian

  • Well done, Dove. Anybody know the song?

  • Why are some people blaming just the men on these ads? It's not just men in the beauty industry, women have allowed themselves to be models. I'll blame anyone who thinks women need to look "sexy" for these ads!

  • what is the song in this??

  • @TheGreekGuitar "La Breeze" by Simian

  • Yes, blame the men.

If us men would just stop buying women's magazines, women's cosmetics, women's clothes, women's breast implants, women's parfumes, et cetera, girls would feel better about themselves.

Because if it wasn't for us men, who exactly would buy these products? Who would prove to the female beauty industry, that these ad's work and thereby encourage them to increase the volume? Women? That's absurd!

  • that girl is so cute is hard to stop watching her face she is so beautiful i wish i have a dougther like she and the music is awesome also

  • unfortunaly the beauty industry took me before my parents did.

  • I love this. For a school project, we were supposed to make magazines that had a specific target audience. Every single girl other than me did a fashion magazine. I did an anti-fashion magazine about inner beauty and people (like Anne Frank) who are truly amazing. I used this to show how how the media fakes so much, and started my speech off with this. Blew their minds. They loved this video. (: Needless to say I got an A. (:

  • What's the girl's name at the beginning of this video?

  • Hey everyone! I'm conducting a project for my French class, involving one simple question: What does beauty mean to you? Please go to my channel and reply with a video or a comment!

  • I've chosen to write my ENG 100 rhetorical analysis on this ad, and since yesterday I've watched it over 100 times. I still get chills and goosebumps, and my heart just pounds from the beginning when the music starts to intensify... Until just the other day when I found this, I thought it was just me after talking to a bunch of girls and a few teachers at my school. Glad I was wrong...

And hearing men laugh at this... What the fuck?

  • This is beautiful

  • I'm fourteen and I always feel like this. I'm 200 pounds and feel different from society..

  • This is terrible, the world is rotten....... The sad thing is that society won't be able to change no matter how many adds like this will be made.

  • Music name?

  • @delaneycheer "La Breeze" by Simian

  • epic :D

  • Unfortunately, it doesn't matter how much you talk to your daughter she'll still be exposed to all this crap.

  • I think this video is cleverly made and send out an important message! But I wont say wanting to be beautiful is a bad thing, just if that is your main focus in life, counting calories and turning into an anorexic! then that is bad! and you should have a balance in life, beacuse being beautiful on the outside only doesnt get you far in life. And you have to be beautiful on the inside to see that!

  • I love this

  • And women think they are free...

  • @ripsnorting13 Says who? What women have you ever talked to that has agreed that they are treated just as fairly as men are?

  • Very insightful

  • name of song?

  • @Eire117 "La Breeze" by Simian

  • It's not "beauty" pressure, it's MEDIA PRESSURE

All I see fake women in this video, except for the young girl featured.

Beauty comes from a NATURAL state, not a superficial state.

It's sad that women (and men) mutilate their natural looks for something superficial.

  • whats the name of the song in the background?

  • @nereydaful "La Breeze" by Simian

  • This should be shown all over the world :)

  • I Blame this Shit for any mistake i did

  • =P still sucks that prettier people still get treated better

  • @SecretSinSaysItAll it's not fair to say that you blame this problem on men...they are just as much a victim of the media as we women are. Being constantly exposed to images of skinny, photoshopped, flawless women in the media distorts their perceptions of beauty, and they come to expect such things of women. We live in a culture where this is normal. Don't blame men, blame the media

  • Yeah we always ask; "What the hell is wrong with our society? Its jacked up, man."

  • Yet women still seek attractive men.

  • @nightflight83

everyone seeks someone attractive BUT the turn-on-factor lies in the eyes of the beholder, my mate. some women like hairy chests, some don't. some like washboard abs and some like a bit of a beer belly...

some men like smalls perky boobs, some like big voluptuous ones. some want bubbles butts to hold on to, some like small tight ones...

but teens don't realize this yet - unless you're hideously disfigured you won't need a plastic surgeon to be with the partner of your choice...

  • @nightflight83 Men aren't sexualized in the media the way women are.

  • @nightflight83 You don't have to be fake to be attractive.

  • @nightflight83 The video never implied anything about men wanting attractive women. It's about the beauty industry attacking women and girls insecurities. It's trying to show that it attacks girls at a very young age, and also kind of a warning to parents. Honestly, I'm a little sick of men always assuming that we blame them for our low self esteem.

  • do you seriously think the message in that video is "women shouldn't have to be attractive?" What women find attractive can vary, whereas women AND men are force-fed the idea that only CERTAIN kinds of beauty are acceptable in women, and that all women should aspire to that idea, because beautiful is the most important thing a woman can be. Men are not stupid, and women are not decoration. You want to help make that point, don't post comments like this one.

  • I have to say. . . this is kinda hardcore. They should put an epilepsy warning on this.

  • tbh I blame this on 2 things; men & the beauty industry.

  • @SecretSinSaysItAll i blame Disney...

  • @SecretSinSaysItAll Why is the fault on men? What about the women who are in the ads and videos? Cant blame them? Not all men are like that.

  • @SecretSinSaysItAll Because women are too weak to have their own mind, just blame other people, totally easier.

  • @SecretSinSaysItAll Which is primarily dominated by men. So I guess I blame two things: men and well..men.

  • @SecretSinSaysItAll Not entirely the mans fault, as the beauty industry are making a lot of men think that girls are much more 'perfect' than the average girl really is, just like how they're telling the females (or males in some cases) how they should really look like, shown in their advertisements.

  • @llamadog714 Well, I believe its both sexes fault. Why because we're both scientifically programmed to attract the opposite sex: women attract men and men attract women. Just like us girls, men also face the same body pressures. Haven't you seen the Abercrombie models or the models from men's magazines like Men's health, maxim, muscle fitness? They're also airbrushed to look perfect. Plus guy also think that's what we girls expect from them. Just as we girls are graceful and guys are athletic.

  • @llamadog714 Yes, and the tobacce industry just created itself and made people smoke...NO, people smoked, an industry came. Women were nothing but beautiful slutty cooks for centuries so this is the outcome. 'don't blame this on men' Please...

  • @llamadog714 In actuality we're all at fault here our tendency to follow according to what society prescribes as beautiful or not is a direct reflection of a lack of critical thinking skills accompanied by poor parenting. Women like men are individuals and should be judged based on content of character over the current theme in the media propagating more emphasis on looks than personality. In order to shift the paradigm of things women will need to be less self-critical of their appearance and

  • @SecretSinSaysItAll what about the women acting in the ads

  • Wonderful video.

Too bad most people will remain shallow douchebags ...

  • @Emthyst Guys?

  • @Emthyst

I don't think that is a fair statement

I know there are a lot of shallow people in the world, but many develop things like eating disorders because they want people to see them as perfect and like them. Some even stem from wanting to have control over something and your eating disorder ends up controlling you.

  • The best beauty product in the world EVER is SPF 30 sunscreen.

  • @adjustthemorgue i dont get it :/

  • i literally get shivers every time i watch this

  • why have i never seen this ad on tv? learned about it in women studies

  • susie my friend for school thats the girl with the orange hair is my friend

  • Watched this in English class. Very powerful ad.

  • the people on here who are like

"it's mens/americas/hollywoods fault" need to look in the mirror. not at their 'fatness/ugly hair/wrinkles, but at their personality. im overwieght, frizzy haired, zitsy but im not blaming anyone. i feel good about myself anyways. people need to get ovet pressure.

  • @xKawaiixPrincessx Young males are very intransigent, be calm, natural beauty will always be appreciated by kind and nice hearts of mature and calm humans =D.

  • welcome to the world. same pressure's on the guys too. guys gotta be rich, have a badass car, confidence.. etc. its the same. its the world.

  • @darkapaul It is NOT at all the same. Men have, across time and space, been over-privileged--meanwhile women are left with the biological, cultural, and societal baggage.

  • this is so inspiring and true. when you're 40, you don't have to look like you're 20. own who you are. 40 is HOT, without surgery, makeup, or anything like that. focus on taking care of yourself, not making you LOOK like you do. I really love this video.

  • I've entered a competition concerning this issue. If I could have any of your votes (if you're reading this, that is you :)) It would be very much appreciated:

    bursarycompetition.students.hsbc.co.uk/_competition/video/show/changing-the-media-perspective-on-beauty-1

  • whats the song called???

  • @xKawaiixPrincessx so what? if you doesn't turn on, then you doesn't turn on, it's not your fault. plus the girls also wants to find their men physically attractive. don't lie.

  • I loved this video! Honestly, it was a bit inspiring, but we showed this in my class, and the boys actually LAUGHED. U.N.B.E.L.I.E.V.A.B.L.E. I actually thought that their minds might have changed at least just a little bit, but nope, boys will be boys.

  • @xKawaiixPrincessx Yeah, same with my class, except the boys actually LAUGHED, too.

  • @xKawaiixPrincessx she does.

the beauty industry doesn't help things, but it's basic human nature to seek out the most attractive mate that we can obtain. it's in our biology to want good genes. beauty is subjective, but the true driving force behind those thoughts are not created by the media, but when we are born. SO. it's not boy's fault they're stupid. they can't help it!

  • @LexieIsNotSexy That's sort of a naturalistic fallacy--AND, the paradigm of female beauty is most definitely NOT based on physical health (as evidenced with runway models). Everything we see is artificial--from the silicone implants to the airbrushing...it's merely that we've become desensitized to it, and sadly, many men can't discern fake from real.

  • yeah the girl in this commercial had nothing to fear right? shes very pretty

  • I typed in Onslaught... Wtf?

  • Models disliked this

  • Great Video % meaning

  • i love this! when i was 12 i went through and eating disorder and now i just turned 15 and this really helpded a lot :´) xoxox

  • I love this video, it's so awesome.

  • @xKawaiixPrincessx You know that they way you act around people creates your beauty and not how you look exactly. If you're self-confident then you the beautiful girl you are; if you depressed, sad, no one will notice that. What you need to learn is getting your inner beauty outside; it's a long walk;. I tell you: (Absolute no product works) It has something to overcome your fears your sexuality; yourself..

  • Beauty's only skin deep.

  • @xKawaiixPrincessx FUCK THEM

  • Stunning. I beg you for another one -3

  • This video is so powerful... Bombarding you at high speed intensity like that, wow. It really makes the point of how misogynistic this society is. Why aren't men expected to mold themselves to the same kind of ridiculous misguided unattainable standards? No wonder why so many teen girls have eating disorders.

  • @Jax82459

We are. Every single movie ever made has told men two things, "Be handsome and strong!" and "Be rich and confident!". If we are not those things we are not even seen as men usually. In fact, most women will not take a second look at a guy who doesn't look like he is truly middle-income or better unless he looks like he should be standing next to Tom Selleck, Brad Pitt, or Taylor Lautner. The ones who do take a second look, well they don't exactly look like Jessica Biel material.

  • So true...

  • The only way this problem is ever going to get fixed is if women stop it themselves! We need to stop buying makeup! We need to stop thinking that all our problems can be solved with plastic surgery! We need to stop buying those rip-off weight loss diets/books. We need to realize as WOMEN that WE ARE NATURALLY BEAUTIFUL! We don't need your cosmetics or your surgery. God made our faces perfect just the way they are. If we needed make up, we would have been born with it on.

  • i love this video it has such a strong message

  • press 4 :))

  • seriously makes my stomach flip :(

  • Fuckin A. im so sick of this propaganda!!

  • Lol, such hypocritical bullshit. Face it, you all are obsessed with physical attractiveness whether you like it or not.

The message is about not being a silly sheep who gets butt-hurt over being an ugly fucker. Call me a heartless bastard, but it's true.

  • I had to watch this for english comp.

  • does anyone know where i can get this song? cuz i can't find it on itunes

  • @xKawaiixPrincessx Hey, we're guys...I know thats not a good reason but its the only one we've got.

  • Nice of Dove to do that... even they are usually the ones who make me feel like shit... still, way to go (I guess).

  • i feel so fat and ugly all the time. im 2 lbs overweight but i always feel the need to cover up my body in huge shirts and jeans. i just feel like when people look at me they think "wow that is one fatass" :(

  • @markwahlbergsgirl Quite apart from the fact that there's nothing wrong with being fat... you do realise that wearing baggy clothes makes you look bigger?

  • @markwahlbergsgirl But I can tell you that nobody is looking at you and thinking you're too fat. Just because everyone has their own problems at which he has to think about. Some girls are thinking their nose are too big or too small, their breast is too small or too big or they're worrying about their hair or face or legs or hands or what else. Just forget about your congeries' and start to feel free and live your life the way you want to live it. :-)

  • @markwahlbergsgirl

Fat ass is a good thing. It's when you get the gut that people ridicule you. Having a gut I know that perfectly well.

  • these are the reasons why i have an obsessive compulsive disorder to constantly look in the mirror to try to fix my appearance and to constantly cover my face when i am in public places thanks America

  • the orage haired girl is really pretty

  • @keshabunny123 do you not realize how that statement directly contradicts the entire message of this video??? i hope to god you were joking, but your username doesn't give me much hope.

  • @Mokibum13

or.. it's just gonna show you that some girls are already pretty and should not let themselves be fooled by society.

  • @keshabunny123 not to offend you, but it seems like your only saying this because this video is supposed to make you feel that EVERYONE is beautiful no matter what. yeah shes cute but most little kids are. i guess the point im trying to make is that you feel like you HAVE to say this.

  • This is amazing

  • That was powerful.

  • we watched this in health in class the boys laughed.

    society is fucked.

  • @justinsgiirl280 SAME!

  • @justinsgiirl280 im my health class the boys and the girls laughed :/

  • @justinsgiirl280 Oh my god. Exact same thing in my class

  • @justinsgiirl280 That's just how guys see shit like this. It's laughable. Males don't feel pressured by retarded commercials or magazine ads nearly as much as females do. Girls should stop caring so much as well. Stop buying into it and feeding the machine. Females are the ones doing this to themselves.

  • @justinsgiirl280 That's just sad.

  • @justinsgiirl280 same thing happend in my english class :/

  • Interdasting...

  • Life is too short to worry about being physically "perfect".

Just live and be happy being you. Simple as that.

  • @jazmella nuff said :)

  • This is all men's fault.

  • @akawhippy You can't just blame it on the men... its women's fault too.

  • @akawhippy It's not fair to say that. Sure, men play a big role, but women are the ones who CHOOSE to obey it. How much makeup do you wear? If you were to not wear any makeup, would the people around you treat you any differently? Probably not. Would you still feel self conscious? Probably. Women are more critical to themselves than anyone else and men have gotten used to the fake image that women choose portray.

  • @akawhippy Misandry is rich.

  • @akawhippy Really? I know many men who are worrying about their bodies, too. They think they have to look like Superman or somebody else and are very unhappy. Whose fault is it that men are feeling really bad about their appearances and bodies?

  • @akawhippy No it's because women are obsesses with competing with each other and looking good. Women have done this to themselves, don't blame your insecurities on men.

  • @akawhippy society's fault, in general.

  • @akawhippy don't blame just men... both sexes need to open their eyes. women buy cosmo magazine and men are closed minded.. put the two together and and you have self deception..

  • @GKid51892 Why blame anyone in the first place? Before the advent of civilisation and media, who would you have blamed for the fact that men selected female mates strongly on the basis of physical attraction?

  • @akawhippy Hell no. Don't you think men suffer from the same unrealistic ideals society has put on them?

  • @M00nlord

Men may suffer from the same unrealistic ideals as women that society puts on them but they're not under as much pressure as women are. Women have yo-yo'd throughout history to fit the latest ideals, which were imposed on them by men in the beginning and still are. Men haven't had to struggle as much.

  • @M00nlord Not nearly to the same extent.

  • @M00nlord Men do suffer, but not nearly as much as women in the beauty industry.

  • @akawhippy

Deal with your own shit lady. The truth is that those criticize a woman most are not men, it's other women and themselves.

  • Wow ... It's such a big pressure always trying to look pretty hair perfect and clothes high fashion always worrying about how other see you .... It's annoying and stressful and sometimes very depressing...even when I do look fine ...

  • @PenileWarfare La breeze :)

  • @PenileWarfare La Breeze - Simian

  • I love this.

  • 0:54 lobotomy?

  • @Gretchenrennirt Botox.

  • This is amazing. Seriously good job!!!

  • @PenileWarfare

    La Breeze - Simian.

  • This is brilliant.

  • @xKawaiixPrincessx yeah but that don't mean they can keep one (Now I think I "deserve" a thumbs up)

  • @PenileWarfare la breeze-simian :)
