We are. Every single movie ever made has told men two things, "Be handsome and strong!" and "Be rich and confident!". If we are not those things we are not even seen as men usually. I know there are a lot of shallow people in the world, but many develop things like eating disorders because they want people to see them as perfect and like them. Some even stem from wanting to have control over something and your eating disorder ends up controlling you.

If you were to not wear any makeup, would the people around you treat you any differently? Probably not. Would you still feel self conscious? Probably.
