coming from Maya and Max and with some experience in Mudbox, Zbrush's interface is a total cluster@%$!. Pixologic really needs to take this seriously and do professional overhaul on the interface or it will eventually lose out to Mudbox. Also calling an object a "tool" is ridiculous. I get that a tool isn't the mesh that you're sculpting, but why not call it something like a cast or mold that makes sense as a sculpting analogy but doesn't conflict with the actual tools you're using? Crazy right?
from the looks of this tut zbrush need a big lesson in work flow, i've been using blender from about a year now and I guess im just use to it but i mean really..., hold alt, click then release to zoom out... what about shift and mouse scroll... it dosent do anything..., sounds logical...
nice tut thougth if it weren't for this i'd be sittin here holding my... mouse, lol
No the reason that the nav is like that is because first of all holding shift while drawing will change it to a smoothing brush, alt makes it a subtract brush and then the reason they dont use the mouse is because Zbrush users dont usually use a mouse, they usually use a tablet pen and tablets dont usually have scroll wheels, they have programmable buttons though so you can have alt and shift and right click on your pen instead of having to press the keyboard or put down the pen and use a mouse
thank you so much! I was literally on Zbrush for hours trying to figure out how to do this and your video helped tons! Thanks again!

Don't sculpt the main form on a high level subdivision though.
