The artful dodger is a much more challenging and interesting role than Oliver, with much more complicated lines requiring more nuance to properly convey the themes of Oliver Twist. The story isn't really about Oliver - it's about the people around him. Oliver gets remarkably little screen time for a title role. artful dodger's screentime was more salient to me - nothing wrong with William's acting - just there's so much more range of emotion in the AD role, & adam does a brilliant job.
