rosanjin is an artist. writing a chinese character, painter, making ceramic and son on. rosanjin is a artist name in Kyoto. He loves cooking and groumet.
He thinks that good ceramic is fit for good cuisine.
Masatoshi didn't seem too pleased. Shook his head at the verdict and only managed to just barely bow at the end. Having all the chefs some to him has obviously inflated his ego. He deserved to lose for being a douche.
I noticed the biggest complaint about this show (especially here on YouTube) is that "the Iron Chef always wins". It's not true, of course, but they win often for a reason: they're damn good at what they do. This isn't like ICA where they just select Food Network celebrities. For this show they found real heavy-hitters to be Iron Chefs.
That was a really confusing showing by the challenger... he come with an awesome resume, but nothing looked very impressive. His layered bean curd dish seemed the most Iron Chef-esque since it was creative, it's a shame he wasn't able to pull it off as well as he would have like.
I'm sure his dumplings were tasty, but white dumplings on a white plate with clear sauce looks about as exciting as a piece of drywall, especially next to Sakai-style presentations.
they really hyped the challenger, that guy needed to come up with some dishes that would make hirano say: "these flavors make me want to touch myself, in a special way". that guy didn't have a chance.
Sakai wrecked him. The challenger may be knowledgeable of Chinese cooking, but he needs to think outside the box when it comes to winning on Iron Chef.
When there are three judges, they go by vote, not points. When there are four judges they use points so if there's is a tie during voting, they can decide the winner by score. :)
"It's, like, this is...mmm...really duck meat. Not chicken!"
What. The. FUCK. I feel like my IQ actually went down after that one.

You can never win with MSG.
Unless you use them in barbeque chips! =]
Barbeque sauce = MSG, chips = MSG.
Combine together = crystal meth.

Ohhh I'm so proud of you Sakai.

With Chinese cuisine, duck meat needs longer time to properly prepare. Usually, duck meat is associated with Peking duck.
Chinese cuisine is better

Good Show! But this challenger didn't really put up much of a fight compared to his impressive background.

Yeah.. I wonder why sometimes they didn't show the score. Is it because the difference is to big? :P
wilsoninov 4 years ago
They only do that when four judges score the battle.
