It's ridiculous watching police academy training. They try to act like they are military, even trying to mimick military drill instructors. When in reality, police training is a joke compared to real military training like Marine Corps, or Airborne or Rangers.

Over that same period of time the LASD lost 14 out of there 9,700 deputies which equals a .144% fatality rate.
Your argument is demolished by the numbers, military has better equipment, better arms, and they have to deal with a lot more crap since they are in the public's eye 24/7.
An infantry squad is armed to the teeth wearing body armor, and has battalion air support on stand by, a police officer walking his beat has one other officer with him both armed with 9mm pistols and wearing Kevlar vest sometimes. You are much safer in the Army than in the LASD.
The reason why there is only 94,000 out of 2.9 million in afganishtan is they rotate in and out of country making there long term risk of being a fatality even lower since they rotate in and out of danger and LEO's don't. If anything the combat rotation makes it even safer since they are not out on the beat every day only a year to 15 months at a time.

There was a new trainee who's dream since childhood was to become a police officer, he made it and was happy and ready to go, on his 4th day of training there was a shooting call with high powered weapons he was one of the officers responding, after all the training and hard work he did, he quit without even giving notice, the real world scared the hell out of him, so my point is, the job is not for everyone even if they feel it is, you have to be in control at all times and trust your instinct.

We're the closest we've ever been to a police state - it's atrocious how the legal system has nearly taken over every aspect of every individual's life. It's even worse that people criticize people for being paranoid, or accuse them of being lazy. I feel completely out of control of my life - and I don't think that's far from the truth. Everything I do has to be approved by the government. Something needs to change.

The US military has a standing force of roughly 2.9 million personnel active and reserves for all branches combined, in the last ten years of war in Afganistan and Iraq combined we have lost 5,623 service members (over 25% of that is non combat accidents so the true combat lost is 4217) Which means the fatality rate for the US Military from 2001 to 2011 is .143%
Over that same period of time the LASD lost 14 out of there 9,700 deputies which equals a .144% fatality rate.

Your argument is demolished by the numbers, military has better equipment, better arms, and they have to deal with a lot more crap since they are in the public's eye 24/7.
An infantry squad is armed to the teeth wearing body armor, and has battalion air support on stand by, a police officer walking his beat has one other officer with him both armed with 9mm pistols and wearing Kevlar vest sometimes. You are much safer in the Army than in the LASD.

The reason why there is only 94,000 out of 2.9 million in afganishtan is they rotate in and out of country making there long term risk of being a fatality even lower since they rotate in and out of danger and LEO's don't. If anything the combat rotation makes it even safer since they are not out on the beat every day only a year to 15 months at a time.
Also the same applies to the LASD they do not have 9,700 deputies on the streets daily, so your point is useless anyway.
