If vertical knockback is too high then you'll just "miss" the ground when you try to ASDI, DI, and/or SDI.
The knockback of Fox's upsmash is purely vertical so this trick will stop working at above ~16% as shown in the video.
Unless it spikes (e.g. Fox's Dair, Falco's Dair) or meteors (e.g. Peach's Dtilt, Falcon's Dair, Link's Dtilt), you can use this to recover from many things like shown in the video.
Things like Fox's and Falco's Dsmash can be recovered from indefinitely.
@GenoGar Ah, I see. So it's useful for the most part but it doesn't work against certain things namely fox's up smash and the like. Well it's a good thing barely anyone uses fox right?
Noi'mnotsrs
I guess if jiggz misses a rest you'd want to try and kill her off the top anyway depending on your respective character's killing moves so... Oh well.
OMG!! After I saw Jiggly Puff with her sleeping almost one hit K.O. move and lived with THAT much damage, I gave up. You should post a video with a HOMERUN BAT against Jiggly! :D
It's not always a 1HKO, people can DI the Rest just like any other move. The thing is, because it comes out on the 1st frame, there's miliseconds in which to DI it; I've seen people live by DIing themsleves towards the side of the stage they're not on. (And, there's also the problem of LANDING the rest in the first place. You miss, at least 50% chance you die :D)
Someone have probably already replied to this but, you do know that every attack in the game has hitlag? hitlag frames can be used to SDI BEFORE you do an actual DI so there's quite alot of time to DI..
Prediction + frames of lag = You have enough time to DI atleast 3 times before you input the correct DI.. Or atleast you should be able to if you actually play this game at higher lvls.. but yeah, at any procent over 30-40% and you'll be dead regardless of DI..
Rest isn't always super eaasy to land, a lot of rest combos can be DI'd out of, and good players will do that. And when you miss rest against a good fox you'll see my point.
Nah I didn't know that. It isn't really random though. I use "らミメソ" because it looks almost exactly like the way I'd write "SEXY" in my handwriting (the Y being different).
I gotta try that out... Will definately improve my game. Oh yeah, did you know your tag "らミメソ" says "ramimeso"? It was probably random, because that means nothing in Japanese.
Thanks for the vid and the comments.. They helped a lot.. I can't wait to try this.. So is King as arrogant as people say? Do you think you can take him now?
No. Holding the c-stick in the same direction as the analog does nothing as the c-stick is only used for ASDI, & you also can input that using the the analog.
The purpose of using the c-stick is to ASDI in a diff direction than you are DIing for trajectory DI w/ the analog, or in other uses to get an ASDI in a direction while you try to SDI w/ the analog to escape a combo.
The point here is to traj DI w/ the analog to get the lowest knockback while still ASDIing down using the C
If by c-stick down towards the stage you mean down & towards, also no. You want to ASDI straight down (unless you're on a slope then it's directly into the slope)
Teching is when you press L or R within 1/3 of a second before hitting the ground, wall, or ceiling. As far as how to do this specific technique in the vid I explain it earlier in the comments here.
Is this worth practicing to death? Or is it too hard to do? Just curious. Does double sticking require prior knowledge of the angle of the oncoming attack's knockback? Is it like smash DI, where you have to smash the stick?
It doesn't take too much practice really. The only part that could take some getting used to is timing the tech before you get hit but still within a 1/3 of a sec b4 you get sent flying.
Yes, it requires knowing the angle of the attack's knockback since you need to be holding the analog perpendicular to that angle when you do it.
No, you can just hold the 2 directions and time the tech.
It can, just that it stops working at 25% iirc since it has more knockback at really low damage, and I think it might send at a very slightly higher angle. Even if you don't time the tech right you'll know whether it was possible if you skid right along the ground or go up into the air normally.
ok thanks for the tip; I think I might've been at the right percentage to able to dsdi a few times in our MM... but most likely I ended up dsdi'ing it at not the right angle.
Dude I need to learn this o.o That is freaking amazing. I see the explanation down you posted... dayum. I assume any character can do this or does jugs have to rest while doing it? <_<
It's just really hard if you can't anticipate it, which most of the times you can't since if you did you wouldn't get hit by it to begin with.
Another thing has to be the angle at which they hit you, see it only works for certain attacks, notice how Samus didn't just shoot a Charge shot, but instead Smashed at a downwards angle?
It's good for laggy moves or up-bs like if as Sheik they hold the edge and make you land on the edge then get up and hit you.
It does work for Samus' charge shot though, just not as well as others since it sends slightly more upward. Might not make much of a difference on DL64, but on smaller stages it would definitely be better than just DIing up and towards.
"Before or as you're getting hit hold perpendicular to the direction you're sent normally towards the ground/wall/etc on the control stick, and hold the c-stick directly towards the ground/wall/etc. Then hit L or R to tech before you're hit (I think it's within 1/3 of a second before you get set flying). So for marth's f-smash on level ground, if you go diag up/left, hold down/left on control, down on c-stick, and then tech."
I think so, but probably not on here since I do it most as Jiggs after a rest and I think all those matches are against Ryoko who knows not to say, d-smash with Peach and to u-air instead which isn't as survivable with the technique since it's vertical. I remember getting wobbled to d-smashed by Atomsk using ICs as Bowser and teching the d-smash on tape somewhere though. It was pretty sexy, lol.
Okay, now how does DI work? I mean my DI is awful, i understand all of the above i just want to survive in the fray longer than usual. If u can help thnx

*Most Useful For* - Pichu. Very good traction, Lightest, Fast falling speed, Very good recovery.
*Traction* - Low traction will make them slide off further, making a good horizontal recovery more important.

Jigg's pound doesn't actually help all that much though. If you do this on a really low hit (falco's d-smash for instance) you'll be pounding while still going flying off the edge of the screen and die.

The most important thing by far when it comes to sliding too far off afterwards is traction. You have to be sure to tech-roll though. It cuts down the amount you slip off by A LOT. Peach's uncharged d-smash will have Luigi slip too far off if he tries to tech it after around 90%, even though he can survive when DIing up&towards the stage. Link however, can make it back even when he's above 200%. If he were to take the hit normally at that percent he'd go flying off VERY fast.
