  • Forgot to mention I'm a pescetarian right now

  • @zelda127 u eat pesticides??

  • @werewasyo @zelda127 pescetarian means that fish is part of the diet

  • Is there a website or something where fellow pescetarians, vegetarians, and vegans go to talk and share their experiences? Because I have no one I can ask for advice and stuff I'm only 20 dont know how to cook that well (my mom helps me lol) and want to go vegan eventually but I'm having a lot of problems. For example, I don't know what to substitute cheese with on sandwiches for example and I make so many cheese based foods. I want to get rid of fish but I don't know what to sub for that either

  • @zelda127 absolutely - try vegweb or veggieboards :) don't worry, there are tons of people on there with cheese substitution ideas

  • @zelda127 for sandwiches (not cheese substitutes, but yummy vegan toppings): hoummous and other bean dips (heather has some great recipes on her site, and there are plenty more elsewhere online), tapenades of olives, peppers, tomatoes or other veggies, peanut and other nut butters. I also like filling wholemeal pita bread with mixes of beans & veg., e.g. garbanzos, red bell pepper, avocado, dill (dried of fresh), lemon juice and seasoning.

  • Hi Heather I really love your videos, there's just one thing your intro music just reminds me of my mother's funeral 14 years ago. Maybe you and your husband would come up with a more up beat or try a different classic piece. Thank you. Some times one key makes all the difference.

  • @bluechipmor thanks for your thoughts :) Phil will probably write & record some new intro music at some point. I'll tell him to aim for something upbeat :)

  • I'm shy just like you too.

  • hi heather!i love all ur videos and recipes but i have a big problem with being a vegan, i always try it and i enjoyed it but after a month or so of being one, i tend to go back to my old habits of unhealthy eating. can u give me some advice on how to stay vegan for the rest of my life?

  • @joyce040807 thanks :) well, what I would say is that if you can keep moving forward one step at a time to healthy eating, that's the key to getting there long term. So if you have a month of healthy eating, and then fall back, try to keep at least one good habit. Then the next month, get back on track, and when you fall back keep one more good habit. And try to have fun with it! If healthy eating is fun, it won't seem like a sacrifice :)

  • I have this same problem, I have suffered from severe social anxiety in the past, and I am currently just graduating from my holistic nutrition program and people always ask me questions.. and i feel i know the stuff well, however my mind goes blank and im always worried im forgetting something or not telling the right answer. Thats why I enjoy making youtube videos, because I can think about what I am going to say and edit out parts if needed. keep up the awesome work! You have inspired me.

  • @holistichabits thanks :) good luck with your videos!

  • Hi Heather, keep up the great work by sharing your info on youtube!

  • @cookymnstr123 thanks :)

  • Also... I asked you that question as well :p lol. So thanks for the extra answer! I agree with you on experimenting with different foods for a complete nutrition-package. Also I've been experimenting after having done a candida cleanse for 90 days to incorporate more previous allergens of mine.. we'll see how it goes :D (oops, my comment got a little longer than I wanted it to be)

  • Awesome video Heather! I have the same shy habbit of not being able to give a straight forward answer to nutrition questions people ask me. I'm a regular nutritionist (want to go holistic as soon as I can pay for the study!) and I eat very clean by choice + due to allergies. Every conversation with friends end up in food related questions which I never truely answer because I don't want to offend anyone or make myself look too extreem. Thanks for your advice! It gives me some extra courage :)

  • @LeannaLitha I'm glad this helped, and thanks for sharing your thoughts! It's always good to know others have the same issues :) Good luck with the allergens!!

  • That's one of the reasons why I'm hesitant about going into the nutrition field too. I like having a personable approach when I talk to people about stuff like this. But it makes it too easy for others to step all over you or not take you seriously.

  • @KezoZydis yeah - although I should say that when I'm in a situation where I'm there to be the nutrition advisor (consultations, classes, these videos), I have no problem - and actually I lose my shyness, too. So don't be discouraged about nutrition, I've found it pretty easy for the most part. It's when the line is blurred, and someone's asking me as a friend that I don't want them to think I'm being judgmental :)

  • Thank you for being you as always and sharing this.i deff can relite to this, sorry my spell,Eng is my second L.

    Bless be with you.

    Much love.

  • @Sallyakerti thank you :)

  • A suggestion: instead of thinking that you might come off as aggressive, think that you are being passionate instead about nutrition and helping the person asking the question. Also, they asked you so as long as you're not mean or sarcastic,(I can't image it from you), then a strong response will just come off as a passionate one.The more I've thought this way,the more confidence I get in speaking up about things I feel I know about.Take a deep breath before you answer too, gives you a 'lil time.

  • @TheNolo73 thanks for the pep talk :) I'm definitely getting better with the people I'm comfortable with on that front, and of course on camera and in consultations it's no problem because I'm automatically in the position of authority. The deep breath might help in those social situations where I'm feeling shy :)

  • are you sitting on an exercise ball? I saw you bounce a couple times!

  • @mightytinwhistler hahah... yes... I was wondering if anyone was going to notice that ;)

  • I believe that you can definitely swap out one food for another when replacing macronutrients and even vitamins and minerals, but phytonutrients and antioxidants can be specific to certain foods which can't be found in others. That's why variety is super-important.

  • @InvisiMan2006 yeah, I totally agree :) variety!! it sucks to have restrictions on variety, but compared to the restrictions of a standard diet a whole foods plant-based diet gets way more phytonutrients, antioxidants, vitamins & minerals

  • A plant based lifestyle provides me with all of the energy and nutrients I need. For over decade. And even more since I've transitioned to eating raw foods 8 months ago.

  • I know the feeling of being too shy. And I agree that it can be a bit frustrating in social situations.. But I do think that you have an amazing ability to give advice, and to share so much knowledge without making it heavy :) I doubt that you should worry about it :-)

  • @SoSpecial008 thanks :)
