I've been looking for a quality cover of this classic song. All i've found are shitty metal scremo bullshit versions.
Some even start out just right, guitar has a nice feel to it, they even nail the somber tone in the intro but then the screaming starts and they just piss all over the song.
The actual music here is okay, but the screaming.... its so boring! There's no emotional subtext to it. Its all just loud and stupid for no reason, misses the point of the songs original message. So sad.
I'm not claiming that there's no art in that style/screaming, just that its stupid to take a song like Paint it Black and do that to it. I like a decent bit of that style of music but really it just hits me wrong with this song. When I hear a song like this vs the original style, to me, it clashes and lacks the subtly that I liked about the latter.
