I think the Tropicana missed the mark when they upgraded their rooms. Sure, they look swell, but the rates also jumped dramatically, like 250%. I know all the hotels on the Strip want to be hip and classy and expensive, but there's room for budget hotels, too. Not everyone can afford $100+ a night for a room. I was hoping to stay there this summer, but I guess I'll have to stay at the Imperial Palace.
That said, the rooms really do look nice. Interested to see what they do to the exterior.
@habs798693 I don't think the rates jumped in the way you are implying. The rates are still very reasonable. My advice would be to email Nicole Marshall @ the Trop (nmarshall@troplv.com) and see what she can do for a rate for you. She was great to us and I'm sure would be accommodating to you as well...
@ryanol Yeah, the rates are lower now. When I looked them up 11 months ago a standard room on a weeknight in late June (when I was planning on going) was going for around $100. The same room now is only going for $54. If I go this summer I might actually stay there.

I stayed here in May The hotel is amazing! Absolutely loved it. Nicole Marshall from the hotel totally sorted us out!
Even after a painfully long journey from the UK we were still blown away by the quality of our suite.

My favourite hotel on The Strip, it has so much character, I hope it retains some of that in this new guise.
