  • i owned one, gutted i dont own one now :(

  • Why are people hating on this video? This was one of the first retro game related videos that revitalized my interest in old games.

  • you hit that thing 10 times in the first 2 mins, yeah i counted

but your right about the pronounciation of jaguar, had to be said its not jagwarr

  • were could i get one of these systems anybody plzz???

  • Nice coverage of the console & history, not much out there on it.

  • only £80 bloody bargain boxed with all those big box versions as well, good job,

  • hey bitch if you dont know nothing about games and consoles, better stay in your ass hole and never do videos. I would beat you just for your stupid accent . . .

  • @vvasha OOHHHH i'm scared, prick :P

  • @vvasha he's just spent 10 minutes sharing his knowledge you fuckin ignorant cunt

  • you think you funny?your not!!@#!@$ guy

  • @Gandjii You just needed to say that once brah!

  • you think you funny?your not!

  • you think you funny?

  • will you stop fuking slapping the thing

  • 19 people didnt like the way you kept hitting the Amiga, and one guy as i can see doesnt like your accent or the fact your from england LOL.

  • cannon fodder the best game oh their was jestrike too

  • my amiga cd32 has a driffernt dpad than yours i am waiting lemmings for this system i will do a video someday.

  • Aaah the CD32! I had an Amiga 600, then got an Amiga 1200 as at the time (around 1993) a lot of games were heading in an A1200-only direction.

Alas, Commodore went tits up so I was left with a computer that no-one made games for anymore and Commodore was left with a warehouse full of CD32's.

If only Commodore could have made decent tv ads!

Oh by the way, please be careful with your stuff. It's not good to hit and throw things about as you do! :)

  • what was the violation? seems like someone tried to destroy them

  • No, it's pronounced "Jag-Wire". Atari is an American company.

  • Well, yes I have heard of it, as every Amiga user. While CDTV was first CD computer ever, yes CD32 was first CD console. Its basically cut down Amiga1200, and you could expand it to full computer including keyboard, 68030 turbo card etc. I agree the box and controler are plastic crappy, but it was standard of the time . Yes, it`s not for the USA, since USA is not exactly center of the world. Yes, it was last Commodore thing.

Games were at first A1200 conversions, but later become full scale.

  • WHY are you like punching your stuff repeatedly? O.o

Considering how you're slapping away on the CD32's Reader I wouldn't be surprised if the entire laser assembly came off.

  • Smirnoff Ice? What a fucking pussy! Learn to drink like a man!

  • erm...CDTV came out before the marty. And anyone of the right age group has heard of this, even if it was a bit shit.

  • looks like the game library is similar to the 3DO.... aka garbage for the most part.

  • that's a fuckin lie!! Amiga cd-32 claimed itself as a 32bit game console but just like the atari jaguar vit was just a suped up 16 bit console at best!!!

  • @luisadrego84 32bit processor, but I'll give you the 24bit memory address lines.

  • I can't get a single word. translation anyone? britain is such a remote land nowadays!

  • yes, i have one

  • It (Amiga CD32) looks like a genesis.

  • No, it's pronounced "Jag-guar" not "jag-yu-ar" it's Toltec, you know from the Americas? You stupid limey bastard.

  • @colonforsecs Sensitive much?

  • @colonforsecs Foreigner telling an English person how to speak English. Well, that's new.

  • @colonforsecs some people can pronounce shit in their head, but their tongue wont cooperate.

  • @exposed97 u fucking retard.

  • I like your accident.

  • @exposed97 oanda.com will sort you out. The dollar is always going up and down in value

  • Please, PLEASE do not throw those gameboxes like that! They're in mint condition and some of em are on my MOST WANTED list! It breaks my heart to see them abused like that ;(

I actually bought one of those here in NL and I still have fond memories of it (and my other amigas. This console is mostly an Amiga-fan only device).

Also, some factual errors in your review, but hey, I'm a fanboy, and they're always pretty anal about their favo system. Liked the review though

  • @exposed97 Err, NO!

  • I miss my CD32 :( Great console, very fond memories!

  • The way you made fun of the American accent with "Jaguar" made me laugh.

  • i bet out of all the ppl who watched this only about 10 have heard of it

  • I think the reason why the controllerports are on the side, is that commodore was "locked" in the old days. Or something.

It's truely commodore design by default. Looking at a600, c64 and such...

  • i LOVE MINE... sTILL PAYING it off on my pay pal.. But since I have a 3 Demonoid Accounts and you can download CD32games and burn them on your PC and they work with my CD32 Console. I say it was well worth the while....

  • Clearly, you know nothing of the Commodore culture that existed in the day. For example, that power supply brick you derided was lovingly replicated from the Commodore 64 era (they had long since gone with cheaper, more modern power supply designs). Also, the "FM Towns Marty something or that" was actually running on a 16 bit data bus, so you're wrong. The CD32 was the best console with some of the greatest games for the price; it simply sunk with the rest of the mismanaged ship.

  • Nice collection, but you don't deserve any of these games and the console itself, since you apparently don't know what you're talking about. In fact, think I hate you for treating them like shit (throwing the games around, hitting the console, wtf?!)

  • This video is very educating in the realm of videogame consoles! 8D Thank you for posting it, I wouldn't have known about CD32's greatest oddities otherwise.

  • za to jak se k tomu chovas bys zaslouzil pres drzku

  • NEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRDD..!!!!

  • dont hit it

  • Hit yourself shithead

  • Few things: There were TV ads for CD32 and there were ads. You could win CD32s on game shows, there were ads in mags etc. Plenty of ads really.

Also there were games made specifically for CD32 (and CDTV). The most well-known one for CD32 was probably Microcosm which streamed FMV from the disc as you played. That would not have been possible to do on floppies at the time, even though the A1200 was technically capable of playing it.

Also some games (AB3D, Fears) ran better on CD32 due to Akiko.

  • @trezzer I remember the ads for them, the 3do alway's chaught my attention because it said real ontop

  • Those "Shitty, worthless turbo pads" go for a pretty penny on eBay, you could probably fund your next console purchase if you sold them both.

  • You are wrong about the availability in the US. I'm a American and I had one.

BTW, Cannon Fodder was a excellent game.

  • The CD32 was the first of the 32 bit consoles that not only could just play games, could play Video CDS with an adaptor and also expand to be A full amiga Computer with a keyboard and drive.

It;s downfall was not the games, but Commodore going bust and company that bought Amiga did not support the CD32.and they eventually went bust too.

Worms was one of the best games on there and the machine did sell well. But with the Playstation and sony backing it. It was Doomed. Great machine though.

  • Love the Who shirt.

    Great video by the way

  • besides its 2010....But i guess a video from 2008 will make an OLD machine justice to consoles today? are u stupid for real or are u STUPID by someonelse?...What a fucking idiot u are!

  • I.D.I.O.T !!!!!

  • done a milion times?`u clearly DONT know a shit about controllers....itiot!!!

  • Hmm, someone has anger issue's.

  • I agree. Dude needs to chill out and play some C64 or Amiga :)

  • @DeanoTheLegend87 Nothing to do with anger issue m8 . Somewillie could be a little bit polite i agree . But all in all , i am like that guy , i was there wen Amiga unix/linux was kicking the shit out of all the console out at that time(yea even Playstation) .I respect You deano IF you missed that moment ..but please do not call some retro great hardware (shit or rubbish) you do not know what it was . Never the less good video !!

  • @DeanoTheLegend87 hE GOT SPECIAL NEEDS....

  • lol this guy is my age it was a great system i loved it

  • with cdtv about it was nowonder they released a 32bit version, when they say worlds first they mean the worlds first 32bit console that can use it in games :P everything on the FMTM was no diffrent to a sega master system heh yet it had a amd386 processor clocked at 16mhz but like pcs games was dependent on it and struggled where as the cd32 didnt rely on its processor for graphic routines as it was all hardware also producing 262,144 colors on-screen the fm would fry showing 256 heh

  • there was A game made for the cd 32. microcosm

  • 3:23 lmao!! just say 'friggin', swig ya smirno and crack on!! class!

  • I thought I was the only one who had an Amiga CD32! Loving the review !

  • my folks bought me a cd32. a) cos i had an amiga and b) mum was too stuck up at the time to buy a sega, thought they were 'common' lol!

  • This person looks very awkward and cannot pronounce simple English sounds such as 'th'. 1 star.

  • Nice review! Are you knowledgeable about Amiga hardware? You should do more reviews based on that technology like the actual computers. They were rather nice machines that blew away PCs and even Macs during their heyday in the mid 80s to mid 90s.

  • Każda Amiga RULEZ!

  • Jak możesz rzucać tymi oryginalnymi grami? Zero szacunku dla Amigi CD32. Amiga Rulez!

  • dont drink and review... pls...

  • Shame on you for not knowing what Cannon Fodder is. Just the best games ever made ;P .

  • Stop hitting that poor console, its older than you are! hahaha

    Seriously tho, good review!

And take care of that console, its as rare as hell!

  • Oh my god you didnt just have a swig of an empty Smirnoff Ice!

  • it's a magic bottle. :D

  • Awesome Review Mate!! I have been trying to find one of these for nearly half a decade now and still cant find one, it seems like if it hit American Borders they self destruct! Hey send me a friend invite on PSN and Ill add ya!

  • Just tried to add you, said your ID wasn't registered.

  • I just turned on my PS3 system, The screen name is JimmyLSanchez see if that goes through, if not let me know :)

  • I realized that I gave you the wrong screen name on your main page, it is not LCDragonrats, thats my old screen name I closed out, sorry mate, but it is JimmyLSanchez

  • JAYGWAR!!

  • 5:50

    3rd party anger ACTIVATE!

    brilliant review! made me laugh

  • In Ireland the Amiga CD32 was big

  • cool!!

  • Though I agree with you that it's football and not soccer!

  • Dude, I like you and I wouldn't harp on you for reviewing such a weird console BUT...

When you mention the Atari Jag it is the "jag-war." Besides me thinking you're putting way too many syllables in the world jaguar, the Jag was designed and built by Americans. So technically you should say it like an American (at least in the console context) :)

  • why should you? if you're english, say it in an english way, i doubt any of us properly pronunciate japanese systems the same way that a native japanese would.

  • You've got a point, but then again most Japanese consoles have English names so it's a conundrum regardless. :)

  • To say that CD32 was a console nobody really remembers is an exaggeration.

For a brief time between SNES and PSX was popular, or, at least, known.

Let's point to Bandai Pippin or VM Labs' Nuon for some really obscure consoles..

  • he is wrong on all accounts it was being sold in the us in 1990 and sold alot only the c64 sold more. The reason why theyplayed like the a1200 -they both use superior technology -which stil is ahead of almost all except for the ps3 as the ps3 is a clone of the amiga

  • The Amiga Cd32 is designed a lot like the commodore 64.

  • I have had the cd32 for years, i got it mainly for liberation, which is really fiddly to play on the cd32, i will get some more games, the ones i have got are not that good,.

  • You seriusly didn't know what cannon fodder was before you bought this console? Oh dear... :)

  • whar do you work i need that kind of money

  • Def was advertised in uk "So MANY COLOURS!" LOL, Used to have one shame about the A1200 direct to cd ports

  • too right its footbal not Soccer!.

If the game is based in a quality ENGALND stadium they could at least use the real sport name. GD interesting review.

  • The FM towns! haha well done, you done your reasearch! have you seen the graphical makeovers on that platform? Quite spectacular. Shadow Of The Beast, and Splatterhouse look amazing on it.

! you should get a hold of one and do a review!

  • Of course I remember the CD-32!!! Im a gamer!! Never had one, graphics and sound were no better than the 1200 ( despite what they said! ). An expensive attempt to be seen as a proper "games platform". and to stop piracy!

    Good review though m8!

  • Did Commodore just use the Commodore 64 AC Adaptor for the CD32? That AC Adaptor reminds me of the C64 one.

  • Does anybody know if the CD32 was ever available in Australia? I'm guessing it wasn't because if its short shelf life.

  • It sure was, I bought one from Dick Smith Electronics around christmas 93 and got most of my games from there aswell, ended up selling it in 95 to get an accelerated A1200.

I've picked up a couple of CD32s of late, going through a bit of a retro phase at the moment.

  • haha was that a wine cooler

  • Wine cooler? Were you lookng in the background?

  • 6.55-7.02 i think the power unit is made as a seperate block so that it ends with a normal plug, otherwise the plug would be that massive block

  • The review is good.

  • Oh, I know the Controller now.

  • hey I noticed that the D-Pad on your Cd32 is different to mine, Mine is just a flat with four slightly raised little bumps ,it doesn`t have the angular cuts that your has, btw you got a better deal than I did , as you got quite a few games with yours and in the big box`s, I like lunar-c & overkill, the main problem for me at least ,really is the official controller ,its just awfull, not responsive,Though I am now going to try out the megadrive pad thanks, handy tip!!

  • cd32 rulezzz

  • driking will doing a video. nice!!!!!!!! : )

  • I thought the Philips CDi was was first.

  • Comment removed

  • Good thing you can use the Genesis 6-button controllers, because those controllers look awful.

  • On soccer: I love how British folks all seem to get pissed off at this word, even though the word was coined in England. It always seems to be the British though, because Americans, Canadians, Irishmen, Australians, New Zealanders, and even fucking South Africans all say soccer (at least to distinguish the game from the local/national rugby-type football). So yeah, you're fighting a losing battle there. :P

And the review was awesome. Very funny, especially the controller anger in the intro.

  • Lulz. Jaguar's pronounced the latter way in the U.S. Deal with it. And 3 is pronounced "three", not "free", teehee.

  • Rise of the Robots was a terrible fighting game. It was also on the Sega-CD.

  • cannon fodder is featured in a recent retro gamer mag, apparently its pretty good.

what was that book you consulted that had the FM marty in? thanks

  • Oh, you know the D-pad is actually stuck over the original D-Pad design on the official controller? It's pretty easy to prise off, it's just a bit of tape holding it on.

I guess They didn't like the original design.

  • AH HA, GURU LARRY.

Glad you came around my channel, i have a favor i'd like to ask you.

  • If it involves free games like Jake, then I'm all ears :D

I've been skulking round here for over a year dude, Just been very quiet.

    But fire away Sir!!!

  • I've got an unreleased US model, Again it was bought by mistake, I thought it was a UK model.

  • I know that rise of the robots on SNES is terrible, I'm doing a review on it when I get around to it.

  • interesting

  • cheese grater psu LOL

  • Google searching FM Towns pulls a device that looks like a PC. Wikipedia says the console you showed in that magazine is the FM Towns Marty that came out in 1993 for Japan.

When you think about it. CD32 was the first 32-bit system to come to Europe.

3DO is the first 32-bit system in North America.

and FM Towns Marty was Japan.

  • canada had the amiga cd first, so the 3d0 was the first 32 bit cd system in the USA.

  • the FM Towns is the PC version, you need to look for the "FM Towns Marty". That's the console version!!!

  • Look closely with what I said, because I mentioned both of them.

  • I should have phrased it better, I mean there's 2 Marty's out.

  • Ok,

Present yourself better, write a loose script, tut less, cut away/edit to stuff you're talking about, stop banging on the plastic console so close to the mic, etc

    Still, i watched it.

  • Sorry

  • thats odd :S the D pad obn your offical controller is different to mine. great review btw

  • That Frontier CD version is actually pretty funny, if I remember correctly the entire game fits on a single DD floppy disc, and the CD version has nothing extra tn it....

  • and actually the fm towns martys cpu was a 386 later a 486 so really the cd32 was the first 32bit system with cd use

  • defenders of the crown 2 was a cd32 exclusive

  • jaguar is a tupi term, it's pronounced "jag-guar" not "jag-u-ar".

But you Englishmen do love to hear yourselves speak, you elongate and vowels.

  • Well accually seeing as the english founded our language you are the one's who shorten vowels

  • Well ignoring all that, its an American designed system so you should pronounce it the American way. Strong enough argument for me.

  • i'm a nobody because I remember it

  • Haha :P

  • Will the Amiga CD32 play regular Amiga games, or only CD32 games?

    Thanks.

  • It'll play CDTV games I believe not sure if it'll play any other games.

  • It can also play Amiga/Amiga 1200 games to a certain extent. But you will need an add-on module to convert it into an Amiga 1200 with hd/dd and keyboard.

But there are CD complilations u can download which contains lots of ordinary amiga games which you rucan n directly by booting the disc in the cd32. Of course, some games require a keyboard and you might be unable to save without a HD/DD, but most games are playable.

  • You should boot up Cannon Fodder, that one's a blast... on other platforms, at least.

  • Good review mate, I remember seeing one of these running in a store in yorkshire shortly after release, had an a1200 at the time, which could be hooked up to a cd rom drive and with some clever software, would play cd32 games.

High points were probably team 17s arcade pool and ultimate body blows and the console's version of super street fighter 2 turbo

  • Classic Game Room Intro... nice...

  • rise of the robots is awful.

  • Nobody remember? Hahahaha!!!! In Europe it was really popular. We can still buy quite nice CD32 in Poland on ebay and other sites.

  • Cool video! Comment to DeanoTheLegend87: do you believe I actually searched for the words "amiga cd 32" and I found your video? I remember this console because I always bought the Amiga Magazine.

  • 1.14 thats typical of the americans, they want you to pronounce it the same way they do, well excuse me americans for not pronouncing it as "ja-goo-ar"

  • A lot of them actually physically cannot say Jaguar properly, I've heard loads of Americans try to say it the proper English way, but usually comes out "Jag-wire". Bless 'em.

  • Its That Fighting Game You Jack Shit!

  • you dont have to "review" a console that has ben done a million times before, if you were doing a well known console you could maybe do a top 5 or top 10 of your favourite consoles, something like that

  • The FM Towns Marty was a video game console released in 1991 by Fujitsu, exclusively for the Japanese market. It was the first 32-bit home video game system, and had a CD-ROM and disk drive built in. It was based on the FM Towns computer system Fujitsu had released in 1989. The Marty was backward-compatible with older FM Towns games. A second system, the FM Towns Marty 2, was released late in the system's life.

  • those shitty turbo pads you say are infact the best controllers for this system as the original ones are even more shocking, good vids buy the way keep it up

  • it's a shame when a console goes bust but look's alright

  • How do you own an amiga and don't know what rise of the robots is??? i seriously suggest you play it now, to witness one of the worst games in living history

  • nice vid, i think i shall add this to my "wanted list" XD

and thanks to you i have a philips cdi 470 :)

i didnt know much about these systems until i saw your awesome vids

  • Haha this is ace ive still got mine.

  • It is better to have that power supply box in the middle of the cord than on the plug.

  • I recently sold my FMV unit for mine for £100 on ebay, great unit though originally it was due to be sold for £199 but they saw Sega's price of MD £129 plus MCD attacement £269 = £400 so they upped it to £299, which was a poor decision imo they should have sold it for either £199 or £299 with upping the CPU to 030 and adding 4mb fast ram....but thats all history!

  • It was outselling the Mega-CD at the time before this and also software wise outsold the Mega-CD AND PC-CDROM COMBINED!! true!

  • Good review, though that 'joystick' port you mentioned is for a keyboard, the joysticks go in the normal 9 pin sockets!

They also did advertise with that dodgy microcosm advert and got good press with chris evans endorsing it, it had a great start selling all 100,000 ever made in those 6 months, of course when C: when bankrupt (thank C: USA for that!) devs stopped all proper CD32 dev, so no real exclusives and the rest just ported A500/1200 games to make a quick buck.

  • LOL nice rip off of the Classic GameRoom HD's intro! Good review btw.

  • I was wondering how long it would take before someone noticed.

  • nice review! i bought one of these the other day with like 10 games, and a load of demos, boxed and with a controller for 27quid on ebay. i have to say theyre pretty nice looking but the controller is cheap (the dpad plastic is just stuck on and after a while of playing, the glue gets warm and the plastic just slides off!) but this thing is lacking in any real must have games, which is a common trend with consoles like this and the 3d0, jaguar, lynx, gx4000 (got one of those, boxed too!) etc..

  • Great review! Nice background info.

But if you're going to let everyone know how to properly pronounce Jaguar...

...I've got to let you know is pronounced "three" not "free."

Is that a cat I hear purring in the background?

Regardless... solid, solid review. TONS of great background info.

And Rise of the Robots was terrible.

  • haha! i got this before my saturn back in the 90's i dont really remember other games than Zool and Oscar...! :D but nice seeing it again!

  • The Amiga CD32 is awesome!!! I love it!

  • I reckon you should review the Commodore GS console... now that really was the most pointless games machine ever created!

  • I'd love to, only problem is i don't have one yet and trying to get hold of one is a fucking nightmare since they are very rare.

  • i used to have one of these as a kid and i wish i still had it because theyre worth a fortune! it got stolen from my cousins house! im gutted still haha

  • ALMOST... There was also an Amstrad console...
