  • I grew up watching the news and I associate Steve Sbraccia with bad things as a little kid. Since all the guy did was go to the bad crime scenes. I don't think I ever saw him do a positive news story. Then again its news..

  • Damn, WCVB used Image (Hearst A News Package) by Gari on November 1995? WOW!!!! Thanks for this vid.

  • Steve Sbraccia moved to Raleigh, NC after his wife got cancer. He is still in TV there.

  • @sbraccia That explains it -- I bumped into him a couple of years back when he was at WB22 (he has since moved over to NBC17 at last check) and has dropped a lot of the Boston accent..

  • Great clip. Thanks for posting.

The Boston Market shooting occurred on Wednesday, November 22, 1995, so this must be from that date or perhaps the 23rd. The victim survived; the gunman was arrested a few days later.

The body of the missing person, P.J. Steverson, was found in a swamp five months later. Police concluded that he was drunk when he wandered off and died of hypothermia.

  • where did steve sbrcia go

  • Cincinnati's WLWT-TV 5 had those same graphics 10 years ago

  • All Hearst-owned stations had these graphics.

  • Yeah, I remember this being in Early 1996.

If it isn't than I really must be a year older.

  • This was used in early 1996, but it debuted the second or third week of November 1995.

  • It is the oldest thing on tape with these graphics and Image News (WCVB seems to have been the debut station for this package) - I think we can also safely say the package was commissioned by Hearst.

13 years later, corporate standardization is hotter than ever.

  • i love this theme

  • That 'WCVB-TV Boston'(w/ABC logo) Opening music part was very good. It was replaced sometime after with a fast-cut version I never cared for. I may still have one of these on tape..

  • Personally, I liked these lower thirds, even if they were humungosly large.

  • THEY WERE HUMUNGOSLY LARGE!! I mean, these things were overtowering, the WBZ lower third logo had been big before (1993=1995), but this...

  • Can't be until '96, when the FULL Sunbeam mandate thing took over.

  • This was following a segment of the Beatles Anthology, which aired on ABC in November 1995.

  • So they changed that early? Wow...

  • @jlehmann I remember that ABC special

  • Sunbeam? lol That's WHDH. WCVB is owned by Hearst/Argyle. Also, Jeff is correct about when this package debuted, I also remember it being November 1995.

  • OMG! Sunbeam, of course, WHDH/WSVN! God shit! Am I screwed up today or what? Oh, well, for me, it's off to bed to unwobbify myself, sorry for the troublez..

  • @hkfreak WCVB is not owned by Sunbeam..never was...and never will be. Based on your stupid posts over the years, if stupidity was against the law, you would be on death row.

  • I've my stupidity trumped over 2 months, much less 2 years, by comments all from you.

  • @hkfreak You're still a fucking retarded worthless troll.

  • As are you.

  • @hkfreak eat shit asshole.

  • @hkfreak yeah eat shit and die faggot troll

  • @hkfreak Sunbeam does not own WCVB...never did...never will. Moron.
