I think the PS3 has reached a point where any higher graphics would just be un-necessary. I mean you can do all this cool stuff and make it look almost real. Of course they're gonna make better and better graphics because there will always be some fat kid who thinks anything other than the latest and greatest graphics is a shitty game, even though video games aren't movies, but I think they've achieved what they set out to achieve.

Well, I see the most improvement from PS1 to PS2, but... Unless I'm just horrendously confused (or didn't play any of the RIGHT PS2 games), I think the PS1 had games with better story in them... Probably because they couldn't shove (comparably, anyways) much into a PS1 graphics wise. I imagine the PS1 probably just got more time for story development because of that. Or, a novel's worth of text could last FAR longer than an hour-long FMV. Can't rule on the PS3, never played on one.
