  • Bad idea me watching this at work because I want to just get up and leave

  • This man's a legend.

  • Great vid Gary, thanks from those of us that have sense and can understand what you talking about. To those taking cheap shots It's not about who or the delivery, it's about getting the message across and been true and honest to yourself. I thought it was effective. He's not really saying anything new but rather giving us all a fucking wake up call. Hey Gary i see that you only responded to the negative comments. Why is that? You know there will always be haters. Thanks Sean C.

  • I love the haters on here. Gary is out there giving advice from his life and you keyboard jockeys try to shoot him down, like your close to his level of success.

  • I don't love people like Hyper Boy up there. I hate being around/talking to people. I want to quit my shitty job in the hospital and train/sell driving ponies and hunter ponies. Anybody want to feed me and pay my mortgage until I get some trained and sold? Anybody want to buy one, esp. in this economy? Anybody want to give a 52 year old woman health insurance when her job is horse trainer? I didn't think so.

  • 12:35 what is the site he said.

Was it 'im in like with you'?? I couldnt understand it?

  • what is this?

  • Gary is AWESOME! Love it!

  • Super inspiring talk.

    7:02 was pretty funny!

  • I keep coming back to this every time I feel I'm losing momentum at 1am on my own projects. There's never been such a true voice for this generation of over-educated and under-employed.

  • SMURF IT UP.

  • theres no reason in 2008 to do shit you hate. In 2011....

  • clap that up its the real shit, lol luv him!!!!!!!

  • For every person who wants to be a success in business, this is a must-see!!

  • 1:22 Get out of my face. He's like the honeybadger of motivational speakers.

  • After 30 secs I was about to turn off....Im glad I stayed - hustling is what its all about ;)

  • Gary is a great speaker and very smart business person.

  • @fishee5 you're missing context with this, his family was super poor before they built it up to what they had. So he knows exactly how it feels. Read "Crush It" before making your assumptions and stop setting boundaries for yourself.

  • this guy needs Christ

  • @c14h20o4 No one needs a crutch.

  • @alienhuman apparently you do... Gary's crutch is a silver spoon.

  • @c14h20o4 u think? cause u have no idea what u are talking about :) sales isnt profit or money boss! come see me

  • @c14h20o4 me too.

  • You need to care about everything, and it starts with yourself.

Look yourself in the mirror and ask yourself:

"What do I want to do every day for the rest of my life?"

    Do that!

I promise you can monetise that shit.

  • Funny coz Social Media Marketing died.

  • Be quiet. You're bound to fail if all you can think about is money. Gary's passion is people right? Not money. If your passion is money, you're stupid. Passion & Hustle

  • @Garyvee Dynamo.

  • Lucky for him he's got a safety net when he falls. Irrelevant to most, only a secured few. Otherwise, inspiring for a minute or two.

  • @fishee5

It takes $10/year to register a domain, about $85/year for website hosting. Then you probably need a cheap camera to take pictures and video, that costs about $150. If you are on YouTube, you already have a computer and internet.

You can get that money working two weeks at McDonald's part time.

Everything else is free and depends on your hard work. You don't need a lot of money. Stop whining and get to work.

  • I am reading the comments, and wondering if all the people here were watching the same video. I don't have millions, but I have passion, patience, and promise in my belly and I am going to get ALL I WANT, SUDDENLY. I LOVED THIS VIDEO & THE MESSAGE!!!

  • If you take away word "shit", the video go shorter by minute.

  • I love the idea and the message and it is true. However, that is not life. Life is hard, that is the curse and beauty of it. I can probably list a hundred people he interacted in that day alone at the conference that don't like what they are doing but are necessary for him to give that speech; stage crew, trash men, hotel clerk, gas attendant for the car he drove there with, baggage checker if he flew a plan to get there, janitor to clean the bathrooms he and we used. THESE are the UNSUNG HEROES

  • He did say one thing right: "most people probably think [he's] a loud, obnoxious east coast guy... he's a dick."

  • Awesome Stuff!...

  • Summary: Crush it!

  • This was the talk I saw 2 years ago, after seeing an episode of Diggnation for the first time (my first podcast) that changed my life. Ever since then, I have been a motivated for the first time in my life it feels like. Gary, thanks man. You helped a 21 year old (now 23) get off drugs and straighten the fuck up just based on a slap in the face of REALITY. You're the fucking man. I appreciate it.

  • @DainMiller that's awesome!

  • This video is always very motivating, I love it.

Gary demonstrates that everyone can make it. Look at him, does he have any formale degree or expensive MBA? Fuck NO! He is an example for living an exceptional life!

  • Great Video! Really simple message, Passion is the the ONLY definite key to success. How many people do you know you are passionate about their work, who is broke? Not too many. The money will come, Just conquer your dreams!!

  • Gary stole my Smurf & Alf blog idea...

  • This is a cool video Gary.

  • HE'S EXCITING CUZ HE'S YELLING

  • Gary,

You say that you always answer all of your emails? That's not true. I sent you an email through FACEBOOK a few months ago about something important to me and got no reply back... ever.

Hype isn't cool... walk the talk, Gary. Don't say it.. if it's not true.

  • @ladybug6616 facebook pm's are NOT email bro... I always got an answer from Gary on his email-adress and thousands of other people have too... I met Gary, he is somebody who LIVES what he PREACHES. Believe me bro...

  • @NicoSchweinzer- is his 'winelibrary' email the one you refer to? That's the email address I used. By the way, you shouldn't assume that someone is uneducated, you should ask. If you can discern a person's motivation & his character w/ just 1 meeting & guarantee actions that you're not privy to... you're psychic & brilliant. Others who are not blind followers, we need more than that. Glad to hear that others have gotten answers to their email, can't say the same, unfortunately.

  • @ladybug6616 give him time - how long ago did you write to him? He will respond. He has MANY times over the past few years. Best time to get him is LATE at night -2am est and very early in the morning 6am est.

hes legit man - VERY legit

  • @NicoSchweinzer Yeah BRO!

  • @ladybug6616 This video is from 2008. He was answering emails then. He gets thousands of emails a day now. There are literally not enough hours in the day for him to answer them all anymore. If you want a reply, try tweeting him.

  • @uncypaolo What success story is not a combination of money, luck, determination, motivation and trend? Get real, dude. Sounds like you're out of contact with reality.

  • Receipe for ultimate success: Talent, passion, determination, some luck and couple millions of dollars to not worry about anything else.

  • first thing this guy said, I took over my family business what was doing a couple million a year...

Easy for this guy to say do whatever makes you happy, hes got a nice cushion of money backing him up in case he fails.

I love his passion and inspiration and I agree with he says but where does that come in to play with people that cannot do what they want because they cannot afford it, and not have a nice cushion in case they fail?

  • @fishee5

exactly what I thought. When you think what your family will be eating tonight you don't think the same way as this guy.

  • @fishee5 Just because a business has a few million dollar revenue does not mean they make millions of dollars. Profit margins are small in small businesses. Most restaurants make millions of dollars a year and make next to no profit.

  • @fishee5 you gotta take a risk sometimes, thats what entrepreneurs are all about. if u scared to gamble you wont make it coz the amounts that you will deal with later will kill you.

  • @fishee5

Didn't he say that from 7 to 2 it is plenty of time to do damage?

  • @fishee5 you do it after hours. hustle, patience, and passion

  • @fishee5 Gary's family immigrated from Belarus and his father built up the liquor store from scratch, so I don't think "no cushion" is an excuse.

  • @fishee5 with all due respect, Whether your rich or broke, his point is that you can do it if you really just put your mind to it. Do you work 16 hour days? probably not. Could you take those hours of playing video games, or watching American Idol, and invest that into YOUR passion instead? Most likely. His whole point is get off your butt, stop being a victim of your situation, and work hard. just dont accept no as an answer.

  • @fishee5 figure out a cushion and build it, then kill it!

  • @fishee5 the entry point for realising a good idea is so so low now, you really can just do it. you're just going to have to work your ass off to do it, but then hasn't it always been that way?

  • @fishee5 For real. Its easy to say do what makes you happy when your already a millionaire. But If u are someone just getting out of college with no money and no job experience it's gonna be pretty hard to find a job, especially one that you love...

  • @fishee5 Dude....you can afford it. You can build your personal brand using all free tools...ie - facebook, twitter, tumblr, etc...

  • @fishee5 I completely agree. That is the exact same thing I thought when he told us that. Who is he? He's just some rich kid that decided he was gonna make his millions into more millions. What a joke. He's full of shit. Someone can't talk about something they've never gone through.

I wanna see him do all this when he's working 9-5 for $8/hour and has $500 in the bank.

  • @CmanCorporations if you actually cared to look into his family's history you'd know his family moved from Russia, being poor as hell, living with a lot of people in a very small apartment and his dad worked in the local liquor store up to the point he eventually owned the liquor store. (Owning a liquor store doesn't make you rich..) Gary build that into a multi-million dollar business. So yes, he is now a rich guy. Started out poor..

  • @fishee5 WORK!!! I am in the same boat you are in, but I am row the boat harder and faster and HUSTLE, PERIOD!!! @Fishee5 DO NOT GIVE UP keep working towards it!!!

  • Don't make excuses. Make it happen.

  • @fishee5 Thank you for pointing this out. This guy is an idiot, and he doesn't even realize it. The multimillionaire thinks it easy to just follow your dreams... yea great point...

  • @fishee5 -- to create a 'cushion' of safety. every month when one gets the pay check it is advised the first thing is to 'pay thyself first' with 10%. meaning ten percent of every thing i earn i put aside for a rainy day.

and this way i always have at least a bit of something to save me...

  • @fishee5 That's exactly why most people never get anywhere - removing themselves from the running before they ever get in the race by setting successful people apart from themselves and coming up with excuses as to why they are different than them and that's why they are successful and we can never be.

  • @fishee5 People are in control of their own destiny and if you choose whether to afford something or not. I was brought up in a low income family. I told myself when I was a teenager that I would retire by the time I was 40. I did just that. I still have an income but its passive which means that I don't have to work for it or for someone else. U too can do the same with the right information and dedication. If you think you will fail then u will fail. Think and grow rich by Napoleon Hill

  • Comment removed

  • @fishee5 Someone created that cushion in the first case. So his father took the risk that you are trying to avoid.

  • @fishee5 A company grossing $2M does not mean he was sitting on a rich cushion. What if expenses were $1.99 M?

  • @fishee5 just because the business makes 2 million doesn't mean that's HIS money. I've had my own business and most businesses are thrilled with a 10% profit. And usually that profit goes back into the business. He also took it to 50 mill a year so he must be a good businessman.

  • Comment removed

  • @fishee5 he built the equity for his business by working in his family business, working in a liquor store from "7 in the morning 'til ten at night, for seven straight years..." If you are able to make ends meet and you are working less than 12-20 hours a day, 7 days a week, then you have resources you are not allocating to profitable projects. If you want to do what you love you have to be all about it all the time. passion takes no breaks.

  • @fishee5 Pffft. This is bullshit. There are pro sports players who used to be homeless. All they had was a soccer ball and passion. You don't need money to be successful you have to have 1 thing that you love and you have to do it. Go to the library if you cant afford a computer. Apply for a low income city pass that allows you to use all sports facility's, library's, you name it. My friend has one. Go get it. This is a blunt statement but; in western world if you are unsuccessful you are lazy.

  • @fishee5 He took over that business but look at where he took it! If you read his book you will find that has been an entrepreneur since a kid! His dad was pretty much self made and that was passed down in his DNA. Step outside of your judgement and listen to what he has to say, decide then if it is for you or not. He says that it took millions to take his dad's business to where it is, but he also says that he made his personal brand with much less and that it does not take that to get started

  • So daddy left him a business worth millions and he continued itand then had a midlife crises and with his 50 million made a business he wanted to do.

He wants people to be happy? if thats so then he should be working on a way to get rid of the outdated monetry system, in this day and age we are still slaves to it and that is as sad as this guy. Maybe its easier and more fun shouting at people in how to minipulate other people in this ridiculas system. What a bubble he is living in?

  • You got to read Gary's book... is one of the best I've read about on-line business...

  • This guy talks a lot without actually saying very much. Nike said it just as well in three words "Just Do It."

  • His enthusiasm is infectious and boy can he talk! He makes alot of sense too. Yes I really like this guy. My first video was awful-I havent made another..This guy gets me pumped up to get off my ass and do something about it AT LAST!

  • Gary V is hilarious and really smart. Wine Library TV is so much better than an official wine tasting but if every wine expert were Gary V he wouldn't be so funny and informative.

  • @danjorgen your missing the message- if he took a tv contract he is limiting himself to what he can make and earn based upon his own content that he can keep on his OWN domain.

  • OK, just so you guys know - saying "I'm keeping it real. I tell it how it is. If you don't like it, too bad." does NOT absolve you of being an asshole. It just shows people you KNOW that you're an asshole, it doesn't fix it. This guy is a *prime* example of assholery at its finest.

  • @DarrenRBaker Would you rather have 50 people who beat around the bush too nervous or otherwise socially stunted to be straight with you, or 1 asshole is straight up and honest? I'd take the 1 honest guy ... it is a decision each of us make - hopefully we all take truth over bullshit. Which is where Garys personality shines. • This is a great video from the now-legendary Gary V. Even though this video is already 2 years old, most of the basic points remain true - especially the "patience and passion" rap.

I love his attitude too: the cursing, the t-shirt, the sloppy jeans. It's all very cool.

The bottom line: "Stop crying and just keep hustling. 'Hustle' is the most important word ... EVER!"

  • Great Speech

  • Very inspiring....but I am glad I don';t work for this cat!

  • He may have an "in your face" way about him..and his delivery....but..you cant argue with the message! ANYONE that has had great success in what they do are in love with and are passionate about that activity!! To many people doing what they are good at (but not enjoying)..so get out and do what you love!

  • I try and watch this video every single night before I go to bed. Sometimes not the entire thing but simply for the one liner..."There is no reason in 2008 to do something you hate...PLEASE...STOP...DOING THAT."

Inspiration that has kept me motivated in my own right. Thank you Gary.

  • he tries very hard to convince people he's happy when i can definitely see him going home at night and crying to a blow up doll of himself. psychopath.

he's clearly just a spoilt kid used to getting his own way and has used his parent's money to set himself up being, from what i can make out, a cunt for money. his advice is facile and nothing new. i just wasted 15 minutes. i should email him and tell him what a prick he is

  • @3LARI dude pls let me know where I can call u or email u, I am sad u feel this way about me ...hope u are well!

  • @GaryVaynerchuk MAN

YOU KNOW WHAT?... I'm sorry :(

I was having a really bad day. I'm generally positive but I'm also brutally honest and in the anonymous world of youtube I just let rip sometimes which I know is cowardly and pathetic but at the same time it's therapeutic to be that brutally honest.

First impressions are a load of crap. I got your book and I'm gonna read it. I couldn't see your message as anything other than "FUCKING WORK YOU ABSOLUTE LAZY PRICKS!" (Which I agree with)...

  • @GaryVaynerchuk ... but I now see the secret of your success. You're a genuinely nice guy which didn't come across especially well in this video to impatient pricks like me who just want to make their minds up on the spot. What I said was stupid and infantile but I can't promise I won't do it again because that's me :) but I'm not all bad... really.

I won't give you my email because by the sounds of things you have enough of them to answer so I'll just say this: Sorry :( and best of luck :)

  • @GaryVaynerchuk Hey Gary... what wine goes good with bullshit? :S

  • I started my business with absolutely no cash or loans. I minimized my expenses to the bare minimum and hustled while still working 60 hours a week. Yes reality sucks, but what are you focused on? He has advantages? Yes.

I quit my day job last March and risked everything. It's a roller coaster, yet it is completely possible.

My mantra is simple: No excuses and Make it Happen. Nuff said!

  • I started my business with absolutely no cash or loans. I minimized my expenses to the bare minimum and hustled while still working 60 hours a week. Yes reality sucks, but what are you focused on? He has advantages? Yes.

  • Everybody needs to stop thinking he means EVERYONE walk away from what you hate. Obviously to some of us that is not financially viable. He is simply taking reality and slapping you in the face, and that is all. This is a reality check and it is very well received. Bless you Gary for the advice we needed it

  • Great message, but as someone commented earlier; start at the bottom with no cash, no lines of credit, car payments, rent, food, etc. and tell me you can just walk away because you hate what you do...

It would be a wonderful world if we could just fit the right person to the right job and make the world a happy place, but it's a long way off... Reality sucks!

  • I agree, its easy to have a launch pad. Not saying he didnt earn his dues, but start out from the street level with the rest of us and THEN cuss at me about doing things I hate, then you'll get my respect. I STILL LIKE THE MESSAGE.

  • @ jarden69, it wasn't neccesarily a multi-million business, just turned over 2 mill a year, not that huge! But he got the turnover up to 50mill, which is huge! ;-)

  • Crush it was a good read...

    -G

  • Read his book "Crush It!" and he breaks it down even further. Inspired me to start working on my own business.

  • HEY JARDEN, what the hell you got going on? have you accomplished anything remotely comparable to Vaynerchuk? No! you know why? cause you aint killing it. your killing everybody else with your stupid freakin mindless comment. Watch the video again Ahole. Its for people like you, BUT, with the intelligence to grasp it, and make a move instead of rationalizing why you aint there!................. Loser

  • The sad part is we need people to work a 9-5 because without them we wouldn't have anything.Think about it, people working in factors make it possible for us to have food on our plates people work shitty construction make it possible for us to have houses to live in ect.

  • This made me think of David Brent's motivational speech.

  • Preach Pastor Gary, Preach!

  • stop crying, and just keep hustling.
