FYI, the MDC is not about exposing frauds. It's an attempt to show the world that, no matter how many people claim to have supernatural powers, when tested under proper conditions (i.e. they can't cheat) & the results are carefully recorded, no one does better than chance.

It's also, to a lesser extent, a search for anyone who may genuinely have supernatural powers. Of course no one at JREF believes that's possible but they aren't so arrogant that they can't imagine themselves being wrong.

It is possible that she remembers incorrectly the events. The second envelope had an ace, the third one was supposed to be an ace (but was not). She could have scrambled what Banacheck actually said and remembered that he identified an ace before pulling the card out of the envelope.
