Okay lets assume that the point system in the finale of The Wizard is based on two factors. Score AND Distance. If that is the case, warping to ANY world would give you an advantage PROVIDED that no one else was able to find the flute to open the warp.

Gain speed and fly up from where the turtle is standing near the edge of the lava. Also, where was level 1-2? I never saw it in the movie. That's another discrepancy I found. This run was my first try on camera and only my third try overall; I was using an experimental strategy in this run and it seemed to work. If I cut some of my mistakes out, 250k is possible.

Yeah, I was thinking of giving this a whirl. Another mistake I noticed was that at some point, the girl in the competition is supposedly in "world 2" as they call it, but in one of the shots she is still at the beginning of the first level. Then 10 seconds later she finishes world 2.
