Ferdinand Magellan didn't complete the journey but before he set sail, it was already called 'The First Voyage Around the World', emphasis is on 'The First', but yeah too bad he didn't finish it, he was killed, but one of the survivors (Antonio Pigafetta) recorded the event and continued the journey. Edison then got USA patents himself years later in the USA with an incredibly similar bulb. There is bickering to this day whether Edison ripped off Swan or it was by chance. Either way, it was Swan. There would later collaborate to make it more efficient. Some say that someone might have made a primitive one even before Swan but it DEFINITELY wasn't Edison.
