  • You have got to admit that FedEx has a pretty cool logo. I prefer the orange Ex to the green Ex.

  • the frame didn't get quite straight.

  • Dude, I am working on my independent study for English, which I decided to do on Paper Towns, because of the "awesomeness" that is John Green. Your video helped me understand the underneath of the book so much better and it has made my job a LOT easier. Thanks. Also, your videos are really good I subscribed. Keep up the good work!

Not sure if you're a nerdfighter, or not, but DFTBA

  • what did u think about looking for alaska?

  • @xtxond I actually did a review of Looking for Alaska before this one. I think it's Favorite Books Review #5, but the short version is that I loved it. =)

  • this seems like a very interesting book! going to go pick it up! once i'm done The Handmaid's Tale

  • hey mat, I know this is a old video but do you watch john greens youtube videos?

  • @Kooletz71 Yup! That's how I found his books in the first place.

  • I'm pretty sure that UPS trucks make just as much noise as Fed Ex trucks do.

  • Out of curiosity, have you ever considered novel writing or story telling yourself?

  • Im starting to get pretty obsessed with John Green. Im loving his works. I just finished the book a few days ago, and I thought it was pretty good. Im REALLY glad I watched your review, because I didnt really catch alot of what you discussed when reading the book. It made me like it more :)

  • absolutely awesome. i understand the book so much better now.

  • would you say this book is of literary merit? in my AP Literature class, we have an option to read a contemporary novel of literary merit, and i'm considering this one, but i'm not sure if my teacher would find it too juvenile or not? i really want to read a John Green novel!

  • I definitely think it's a book of literary merit, but that's very much out of my control. If you'd like to read a John Green novel, I'd consider Looking for Alaska, just because that one won the Printz award, which is an award specifically for literary merit, so that one's hard to argue against. But I guess it kind of depends on your teacher, and what he or she considers merit.

  • Okay, just finished reading the book a few minutes ago. I've been on a whirlwind tour of John Green's books for the last 2 1/2 weeks since I left you the last message.

I think the strongest message I got out of this book is that misinterpretation is a two-way street, as you said. This has happened to me with one of my old friends from middle school-- even though I grew out of old habits (like swearing), I kept doing it when we hung out.

    Great review, Matt.

  • I will watch and comment on your review once I finish reading Paper Towns (I'm working through John's books starting with Katherines and ending with Paper Towns).

    Here's a raincheck for a comment. : )

  • You bring up such good points. These book reviews are like a really fun english class =)

  • That was great :) Paper Town is a difficult one to explain, and you did it really well.Out of interest, do you write a script for your video beforehand? It's something I'm thinking of doing . . .

Wonder how many years it'll take me to get to 23 reviews :)

  • I am first..yayy... I would say Paper Towns is about knowing people are not who we see them as, but looking past the masks we all wear to keep from being vulnerable. We all want to have people see us as one way. However, we can lose ourselves if we keep the mask on too long.
