  • DAAAAAAAAAAAMN SIX GIGS!! lol how much technology changes over a decade.

  • WHO THE FUCK IS COUGHING

  • damn, I'm gonna miss his voice on the future keynotes

  • THE DOOOOR!!!! ALL HAIL THE DOOR!

  • The G3 was the first tower that showed me someone understood how much blood and skin I'd lost opening up its predecessors to perform upgrades and add-ons. Great design that led to even better design.

Design isn't just how something looks. It's how something works.

  • That cough of Steve is SO annoying!

  • Hey, it's an iPod mini shuffle. LOL

  • @AlexsTechReviewz Every single minute. xD

  • my usb is on 5 grams and on 8 gb

  • I was actually impressed by 1GB of memory in 1999. I expected like 256 MB or something haha.

  • It was the most beautiful Mac ever.

  • *cough* *cough* *cough* *cough* *cough* *cough* *cough* *cough* *cough* oh god how annoying!

  • @Nefus1988 Every minute he coughs.

  • woah Steve has hair o0 lol

  • Firewire rules. I have a G3, G4, G5 they never fail.

  • ¿Magic circuitry?

  • I'm Liking this new cosmic panda thing

    /cosmicpanda

  • Firewire is definitely still the standard haha

  • @scottycatman but the 800 port not the 400^^ and lets see how thunderbolt turns out^^

  • 21 inch for publishing for 1499.... world has changed big time :D

  • zomg! it's got the handle so you can pick it up!!

    what a big invention

  • Big. Fuckin. CRT Monitors.

  • OMG! CRT's are soooooooooo crap

  • @elliot4009 CRT's actually produce pretty damn good images and have far FAR better viewing angles and colour accuracy than LCD displays, unless you spend a pretty penny on a pro ISP panel display. They're big and bulky of course, but they're still better in many respects than many cheaper LCD displays.

  • @TalesOfWar

Man, you are stating the facts from 5 years ago. Today's LCD and LED monitors are way better than any CRT shit from the past. 5 years ago CRT was better than LCD, but sure as hell not today.

  • @Coilaman Most LCDs suck. You only get good stuff if you pay for it. I do design work, so I've looked at plenty of monitors over the years and nothing comes close to the quality and colour accuracy of a CRT unless you pay a fairly big chunk of change for them. For most people's every day use they don't care or notice, but trust me, CRT's still outperform most cheaper LCD panels in terms of image quality, colour accuracy and viewing angles. You need a good IPS panel to compete properly, they cost

  • I found it. One Week by Barenaked Ladies

    lol

  • Whats the song at the beginning?

  • I swear, if that camera man coughs once more... -.-

  • @penpin654 it's actually steve

  • 1GB of mem, that's a lot for 1999

  • I loved my G3, I should never have thrown it out! Wish I kept it forever.

  • face it! x86 had beaten the ppc!

  • @hanrinch

    No shit, sherlock.

  • just look how c2d/ i7 line dominating ppc in server/mainflame/work station market....

  • Comment removed

  • @hanrinch

In case I didn't make it clear enough with my last comment, I KNOW. Why do you keep telling me? All I said was that I missed my iMac G3. And its Xeons in servers, not Core i7's.

  • is he sick?

    hes like:

    uh... uh... uh...

  • Dang! Look how much hair he had back then! XD

  • What is with the coughing that was added?

  • wow 6gb drive how much has it changed!!!

  • 3000 dollars.... F u jobs

  • @Skylight00000

Much better prices than on today's Mac Pro. If you want a LOW end Mac Pro you're spending more than 2k and a model with the highest performance processor will take the price tag up to almost $6000. Thats not even adding any RAM, video cards, or drives.

  • Why do people applause that much @ 3:35 ? The Power Mac G3 wasnt the first mac featuring the easy to open door the beige unit it replaced had that too.

  • because it was so easy to open compared to older ones!

  • @MacPhantom

It wasn't hinged though. The older 8600,9600 and G3 had a door that popped off the side and you still had to unplug the computer, lay it on its side, and fold out the drives and power supply. The B&W was MUCH easier to access than the older systems.

  • It is a shame about the caugh disturbing the presentation, I just got a B&G G3 someone tossed out, not nearly as clean inside!! The drive cables are buried under the metal plates, and very hard to access, in fact

  • terrible, camera guy coughing/hacking/toking/whatever is annoying and disgusting. the case design was definitely revolutionary. maybe a decent video if you mute it, freaking disgusting.

  • Lol, thats Steve Jobs coughing. Thats what happens when you smoke a lot of weed for most your life. Yes, Jobs was a pothead growing up. He also did a lot of LSD.

  • Who wasn't? Apple was artists more then IBM ever was, the main competition was not MS

  • Not quite that bad, but you did coax a laugh, I thought it was someone near the camera as well, not Jobs, because the sync is off

  • yea the sync is off so it doesn't seem like its him, but it is him. this is probably the worst coughing hes done during a keynote, but if you watch all his keynotes, he coughs in most of them just not as much as this keynote.

  • I saw a comment about the Podcasts, where you hear the same. I think it was in effect, Rude of him to not try and clear his throat and maintain some structure before clearing it again, it's just very bothersome, even if you can sympathize. I got a G3 only about a week and half ago, without the mouse and keyboard however, it's still working but needs some dust removal internally

  • Woooo, up to a GB of memory? Their PowerMac 7500 from 95 did that too.

Sure, back then, density only allowed 512MB, but it expanded to a GB before this G3 came out.

  • I think the initial versions shipped out with a max of 1GB memory.

If my memory serves me correctly, the powermac G3 maxed out at 1.5 GB (3x512MB)

  • There ARE 4 slots for Ram, so 256, 512, 1024MB make sense

  • He did no die, sorry to burst your bubble, but it is rude, I concur on that end, best to have tried to avoid caughing between long stretches

  • just outta curiosity, why does Jobs keep coughing?

  • its not him, must be the camera guy, pretty annoying though!

  • it is him...

He has had quite a few illnesses in his life...

    Tom

  • but... its blatantly not him coughing in this...

  • it is mate...

It's just he doesnt look like it in this video because the audio is a little out of sinc.

He does it in many of these keynotes.

    Tom

  • how can you be so stupid? it´s not him unless he has developed a way to cough through his ass

  • yearp it is:)

Vid is slightly out of sync.

If you don't believe me, subscribe to the Macworld Keynote podcast on iTunes and see for yourself...

Steve Jobs has had many illnesses in his life - As I have just said down there.

    Tom

  • He was ill then.

  • He does this coughing thing that drives me fucking crazy. I guess it's a nervous tick...

  • I might get one of these for free

  • it looks amazing!

  • ahh so not all is lost i guess, should be interesting to use, i wonder when they will start making bigger than a TB hard drive too, i mean data is getting so big with all the HD encoding, they either need to develop better compression software or making hardware store and transfer more, i have a firewire 400 external 250 and i get so annoyed with how slow it is to transfer some hd films

  • ahh no worries man, just saw no reason for it lol. yeah 3200 sounds amazing, so do you think a G4 with the firewire 400 will be able to use faster speeds as well? i dont understand how that would work, is it just a software upgrade or more power to the ports, it would be pretty interesting to talk to the developers dont you think?

  • what is with the aggression! i'm stating that i'm unhappy there's not a firewire port on the new macbook! i didn't know there are plans for a new firewire! 3.2gbs at 97% performance sounds good, i wonder if apple will put it on there macbooks when it comes out. is 3200 going to be backwards compatible?

  • ahh and they just got rid of firewire :(

  • You're jumping to such big conclusions. They only excluded it in their newest Macbook. Every other Mac has Firewire. Stop whining for nothing.

  • whining? wow, someone's a hot head! do you really think i was being serious? having an unhappy face because a connectivity port on a computer isnt there in the latest model? haha! im not that pathetic! im sure there will be usb3 soon to completely replace firewire 400 and 800.

  • The drop down door was by far the best feature of the G3. I tried doing some upgrading work in an old Beige G3 and it was a huge pain.

  • i can get one for 60 € :P

  • Wow I love macs alot but back then in those years I wouldn't want a computer if I knew in 2 years the Imac G4 came out.

  • wow its amazing how cheap monitors have gotten today..

  • yup... I got an Aluminium iMac for the same price as that 21-inch CRT right there.

  • and now you think hmm the MacBook air is faster and way better OH Effin YEAH!!!

  • la conservo como el dia que steve la presento, brillante e impecable.

  • i own a G4

  • powermac or imac?

  • Sorry powemac :)

  • so do i

  • mee 3

  • i love this mac

  • me too
