  • Fantastic documentary with some brilliant clips. Looking forward to watching the rest of the parts! - Thanks.

  • @Torkgasmicgirl8 The full Knebworth concert is on YT. Not sure why you'd wait for parts!

  • @rosemoonwolf ..I mean all the parts of the 'Behind the Music' documentary (this being part 1) - I went on to watch them all - it was the best Behind The Music I've ever seen!

  • Yeah.... I'm pretty sure that Ronnie would be so Proud of what they turned his band into..... NOT

  • SKYNYRD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Watch the Freebird BBC live version on YT. IMO it's the best version other than the studio of course. Allen tears it up. Guitar was smokin'. I've heard Freebird 10,000 times on the radio like anyone else but never knew their names other than RVZ but after I watched the BBC version of FB I know them all. A livin' legend is irreplaceable.

  • i have been with skynyrd from the start, but never saw rick medlock till now except in BLACKFOOT! and only then on the album covers, for you yunguns thats a flat black piece of plastic that looks like an overgrown cd. but where did Rick fit in???????/

  • If they saw fit to put Rickey's tune and let him sing it on an album (one my favorites btw) then yes, he was ONE OF THEM!. so was ANYONE who played/sang with them on tour or recording. IMO.

Rickey, if ya read this, I hope ta meet you and Gary sometime in the soon future.

  • @HorticultureShow ~ WooHoo! Another plant junkie who loves Skynyrd in all of their glorious incarnations, who would've thought?! (I'm a rockin' garden designer {no pun intended})!

  • @rosemoonwolf - indeed i do. If you want a very cool Skynyrd CD set go to lynyrdskynyrddixie - Billy has the official release of their old interviews. used to anyway. I bought one about 4-5 years ago. was worth every penny.

  • @HorticultureShow Thx, will do! Just happened to have joined that forum recently but haven't made my way around much yet...

  • People on here need to lighten up about Rickey Medlocke. He is one hell of a musician and would have been a regular member of lynyrd skynyrd the whole time had they needed another guitar player when they first started.Rickey didn't want to play drums so thats why he left and started blackfoot.Besides the guitar he can play the drums, mandoline, keyboards, and banjo, and can hold his own as a musician anyday.

  • @sammys70 - I agree. plus his songs are on their album First & Last (pretty sure thats it) White Dove and The Seasons. His name should be Rickey MelodyLocke :)

  • rickey is a good musician, remember gary rossington invited him to join the second version of skynyrd. i think it was wrong for him to sign his name on allen's picture. i think he does a good job of playing allen's part. he will never replace allen.

  • ahh... they dont make em like this no more .... GREAT MUSIC :)

  • R.M. you suck the whole reason i dont like the new LS, to coky he wasnt even there when they got big

  • @heathk15 Rickey was with Skynyrd in the early 70's as their drummer. so in a way he was there.

  • @sadbutsandman91 for a week?

  • @heathk15 no belive he was there longer than that. If you have the album "Skynyrds First" , read the booklet. He played drums on a lot of those songs. He even recorded Some Blackfoot songs on that album.

  • This is music you can trust. The reason I say that is because any music such as this can only come from two places. The heart and soul. It is without pretense or gimmicks. They just wrote and sang about the everyday life of the common man and then shared it with the world. It's been over 30 years now, and they are STILL playing sold out shows. That type of longevity is unheard of these days. We'll never see another band like this again.

  • the real bad news bears

  • oh how I remember my hanging out with, in the garage with some great bands , guys I knew ...very cool.

  • @googirlsmiles

sucks that we have to get old

  • Ronnie Van Zant is the most underrated songwriter ever in rock n roll! His songs are so genuine and amazing.

  • I remember the tragic plane crash. I was 15 at the time and one of my friends had tickets to one of the upcoming shows. I had another friend who had the original album with the band and flames in the background. They changed it for obvious reasons. Still one of my favorite bands ever.

  • when i was 22 when this behind the music came out. and i don't card what idots say ,i love behind the music docmentarys.

  • i was two years old when the plane crashed. i was 11 years old when they reuninted the band in 87

  • skynard!!!!!!!

  • The 70's

  • RIP Ronnie your legacy is secure

  • shut up

  • gary..i love u man...gary rossington is the best!!

  • at 5: 06 rickey medlocke is behind ronnie...for those who say he wasnt in the band at all...he was an idiot for thinking something else was beter though

  • I was 10 months old when the Plane crash happened!! Rest in Peace!!!

  • Indeed, Medlocke played drums originally, them left to form Blackfoot

  • orginal band , was ronnie, gary , leon. billy, allen, bob burns, then steve gaines , and artrius pyle.

  • wasnt rickey medlocke in the original band and then left before they got famous

  • God Bless You Lynyrd Skynyrd.

  • Who cares? The music is awesome. If it offends you , don't watch

  • That's mean.

  • The flag is only racist if you think it is. In the south it stands for southern herritage, remembering your ancestors past.

  • ricky medlocke quit after the muscle shoals sessions didnt he? whats all this shit about sacrificing and this we stuff. hell he was in blackfoot that was his thing.

  • well he's has been friends with all of them his whole life basically he was there before skynyrd made it big

  • thanks for posting this ive been looking for this for awhile

  • why cant VH1 show this kind of shows, no they have to show fucking rock of love and new york this and that. VH1 isn't a music channel anyone.

  • I was privledged to grow up on the west side of Jacksonville. They played at LakeShore Jr. Hi when I was there in 68, 69 and 70, The ball park is from Hyde Grove Elementary school. Less than a mile from my parents house. They also played at Edward H. White HS for our Jr Sr prom in 72. :-) I miss all those that have passed on. But the band lives on, regardless of members.

  • the "Real LynyrdSkynyrd" Band Ceased to exist when Ronnie VanZant and SteveGaines and Dean Kilpatrick Died in the plane Crash. NoWay is what they call LynyrdSkynyrd the Real thing anymore. Accept it and Move On. EveryMother's Son Will Rise and Fall Some Day

  • How can there be Lynyrd Skynyrd without Ronnie Van Zant?

  • rickey medlocke should even be sayin "we" cuz he ain't no part of skynyrd. just played drums for a short period of time in the 70s

  • i know the guy that was interviewed with lynyrd skynyrd but i cant find him its moe koslow

  • rest in peace billy...now your with ronnie steve cassie and allen...we will miss you

  • actually highroller rickey medlocke was a drummer for the band in the early years

  • yeah...Rickey...saw a signed copy of flames cover Street Survivors, RM signed his autograph RIGHT UP THE IMAGE OF ALLEN COLLIN'S BODY!!!! I thought that was very wrong. Rickey, you are not Allen. :(

  • yeah he ain't nothin but an allen wannabe. i can't believe he is sayin that he started with the band in hell house and all. he didn't

  • he was before they were famous

  • @anitaskynyrdfan I don't believe that Rickey believes that he is Allen. However, he did take Allens place in the band as far as his showmanship and playing his parts.

  • @anitaskynyrdfan and he will never be as badass as allen collins was

  • @anitaskynyrdfan I can't believe you gave him an Opportunity to Sign an Album he Didn't have Anything to do with?

  • at 4:18 - 4:25 who is that guy? he was not in Lynyrd Skynyrd why is he acting like he was?

  • my bad, that's ricky medlocke and he was in Skynyrd in the early years

  • he was drummer in the early days.. not plays guitar in the current lineup..

  • thanks for adding this.cool

  • i wonder is the Hell House still there

  • possibly

  • i hope so :)

  • It actually burned down. Some guy from Nascar bought the cement, though.

That's what I hear at least. I believe I read that at Ed King's website.
