Last time I went to a dog pound a funny thing happened. The pitbulls and pit mixes turned out to be the friendliest and most affectionate dogs in the joint. Too bad my dad wont let me have a dog until I move out in maybe 2 years.

Regarding your explanation of the head-tilt... I once met a cute French bulldog named Olivia; the next time I saw her I greeted her by saying "Hi, Olivia!", and she gave me the biggest smile possible, quickly followed by a sober tilting of the head. To me, it clearly meant: "Hi! How do you know my name; have we met before?" :)
