  • I have to teach my 3yr old Paint and 12 year old TB to do that!

  • so cool and inspirational! my 12yr old gelding hates the bit ( i justadopted him). this technique is just was he needs to accept it on his terms. thank you!

  • @ipluckmygreyhair I'm glad it is useful. Are you clicker training your horse ?

  • @smaarthorses Not yet, but I planned to in the near future. I've been researching how it is applied.

  • @ipluckmygreyhair Feel free to email me or ask any questions. I'll be happy to help. I may even have a clinic running near to you if you wanted to come to one and see what happens.

  • Well yes ,but maybe he wount do that ever..i m talking about my horse .. he will be 3 years in 31th march.

  • @tipafitzzy I taught both of my horses how to bring their head to the bit/bridle when they were less than 3 yrs old. The first horse in the video is only 3yrs old. That is not to say they are ridden when the equipment is introduced, they are just introduced to it so that I can teach them about how I want them to respond to it in hand and for the ridden work that will follow at some stage (when they are ready).

  • @tipafitzzy So sitting on them becomes the next natural step for them and they already know a huge number of the aids I will be using.....as such, its not a shock to them.

  • can you give the bit to the horse so that you do on your video you can trainng any horse

  • @mrm007mieszko Yes, any horse can be trained this way. even if they have had a dislike for the bit in the past (assuming there are no dental or physical issues that are perhaps casusing pain or something else aversive).

  • I am trying to train one of my horses to accept a bit. She is a 3 year old thoroughbred that we originally bred for racing, but since she hurt one of her legs while she was goofing around in the pasture we thought it would be safest to use her somewhere other than the track. She is my first horse to ever train by myself and when i attempt to get her to accept the bit she throws her head.. Any advice? please and thank you. :))

  • @garretsgold379 I have the same problem ,he throws his head up,or just go away .. :( have any suggetions? Sorry ,for bad english .

  • @tipafitzzy The idea is to ask your horse to bring his head to the bit, not you taking the bit to him. If you work on that principal then you get to know how your horse feels about the bit. If you need to, you can start to work on changing his perception of the bit with the clicker.
