Better vocals than the original; more feeling. Bass sounds out of tune. Snare drum distracts later in the song. Maybe try some counterpoint harmonies with the 2 guitars and the vocal.

@chrisjx The bass is not out of tune.. it might sound out of tune because it has some kind of muffled effect it seems... I am sure they would have noticed had it been out of tune... they are clearly musicians. The snare wasn't distracting, in my opinion. I'd say it was done very well. Could've used a counter guitar part, but didn't need it. I think she used too much vibrato, but hey, it's her style, not my favorite, but whatever. It was done well. It won't appeal to everyone, but what does?

@ZanderSmith10 One thing that must be understood (and I quote this roughly from an interview with Justin Vernon himself): the lyrics do not really denote a specific meaning...but the vocals are an instrument. The same way instrumental music (classical/jazz/blues) evokes emotion without words. Lots of people hate on Bon Iver b/c his lyrics are obscure, but much of it is just syllables and flows. Nuances that take you somewhere words can't.

@SoMusic15 this song does have meaning, but for the most part the syllables are meant to be an instrument. all from vernon (from what i read) - the first verse is just about a time he spent halloween in milhaukee and people were drunk all over the place. the second is about a place he lived during college (3rd and lake) and recalling his memories there. and the third is about when he was smoking weed with his brother on christmas eve. the chorus is just about the vast beauty of life itself.

i will say people complaining about the way vernon pronounces things, i think the fact that you can't sometimes understand what he is saying makes it more musical than "radio rock" which he prefers. there a difference between musicality and verse chorus verse chorus.

Its acually the other way around, hes got great and relaxed hand technique and his singles are very even and smooth, played with almost moeller-ish technique.... the groove isnt really groovehh but its not suppose to be either so i really dont know where you are comming from.
