  • From Anzio,D-Day (Airborne and Beach landings) to Bataan/Corrigedor, Japanese POW Camp to Korea Land and Sea onto Vietnam Ground and Sky to Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom now Afghanistan. I've had Family in all these conflicts but my People have been fighting a lot longer then that. We the Apache have known war along time. My Uncle was in Vietnam in 1961-62 as an Army Advisor my Father in 1967-68 with the 19th Air Command Sqdn. just in time to enjoy the start of the Tet Offensive. I'm just a Vietn

  • My grandfather and great-grandfather both fought in Vietnam. I haven't told them thank you yet but i will when the time comes. My great-grandfather especially deserves it. In WWII he had the job of picking up the dead but fought in Korea and Vietnam. But my great-uncle Hanz never got to go home and never got told thank you. He fought with the French Foreign Legion in the mid '50s. He was in the hospital for ten days before he passed from his wounds. He stepped on a mine. Thank you uncle Hanz.

  • You are right Veni 1961. And I want to salute all my fellow vets specially those who fought on 1968. May God bless you all. Thank you for your comments Major Clark. Proud to have served and still serving like many of us.

  • I was a young teen when the world was so angry and there was fighting and shooting going on here at home....I can never walk the entire Vietnam Memorial without breaking down in tears...my only donations go to America's Disabled Vets...God bless you all...I'm still confused about that war....

  • i was born in 1961, i grew up with this war all over the tv, i have NEVER understood why we treated these guys like we did. My uncle was one of them & i remember him saying why?? I did what my country asked of me & yes , there were bad men & women over there, but, most were just YOUNG folks doing what they thought was right. My unbcle is gone now, but, i told him b/4 he passed thank you & i love you!

  • Its time for a NAIONAL DAY FOR A WELCOME HOME FOR THOSE WHO FOUGHT FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN VIETNAM... Encourage Legislative Representatives to push for this national day, Its way past time to finally give these heros a proper welcome back

  • It is good to back in the World. Welcome Home to all Vietnam Veterans.

Duty, Honor, Country. Thank GOD, there are Americans who are able and willing to Stand and Fight for Freedom and our Way of Life. RVN 1970-71

  • @jmtrainer--B Troop, 69-70, Allons

  • Welcome home to all my brothers watching this. 1st Squadron, 11th Armored Cav - 67-69. Allons.

  • Thank you for this song--as a Vietnam vet it is so true. I now ride Patriot Guard to give back what was not given then and to ensure all our service members are honored.

  • @blukni112 God Bless u for your Service than and Now...Ride with Pride!

  • too much blood shed for this 'conflict'

  • I published a book recently. Part of that book is a tribute to Veterans. It is at Lulu.com and Amazon.com now and probably in some book stores. Anyone interested, the title is:

From the Shadows of My Smile. You will find the poetry covers many subjects to include government and economics, truck driving, mythology ,etc,. i I published another book a few months earlier. Some award winers and published in anthologies to including: International Who's Who In Poetry

  • @echobiz The other book title is, "A Letter to the Class of 65" and is for the baby boomers and anyone who cares why we have a failed economic system today. Poetry and US History not taught in the school systems..

  • As a VietNam vet I thank you for this song.

  • Just ask any soldier who fought in any war, I am sure he will tell you ,freedom is what he was fighting for.Blood, sweat and tears was the price I had to pay as I fought for our freedom in a land far away. A few lines from a song I wrote several years ago.

  • "America's Warriors have always stepped up to the plate for our freedoms and liberties and many have paid the ultimate sacrifice and some have survived to endure worse. HONOR THEM, RESPECT THEM, LOVE THEM & NEVER FORGET THEM! I salute you all!" Sparrow Six-Five!

  • A shame the way things were and coming back to "The World" in 69 seemed to be as bad or worse than being in Nam. Glad now for the most part returning soldiers are getting much better treatment. God bless every soldier from every war and to all the Nam brothers & sisters "Welcome Home".

  • My father para trooped with the 101st in '67 then with the 82nd in '69, the symbol for the 101st is the SCREAMING EAGLES and he said they did more ass kicking than crying. GOD BLESS OUR ARMED FORCES N ALLIES WHO STAND UP FOR DEMOCRACY AND SAY FUCK COMMUNIST N TERRORIST.......... USA USA USA USA USA USA

  • Your great capacity to serve is wondrous. You have to enjoy it without boundaries. These are what veterans have fought for.

  • Excellent song and sentiment. Thanks, Maj. Billington. Not a quibble, but a clarification from a Purple Heart combat vet ('68-69). As Vietnam vet Gen. Schwarzkopf put it: "NOBODY ever spat on me." You can understand his emphasis on "NOBODY" better if he'd been so politically incorrect as to include "... and remain ambulatory." Second point is, WE WON the damned war on the battlefields -- the politicians and civilians gave in away behind our backs. And to all me Nam Vet brudders -- WELCOME HOME!

  • @powmiadaughter, My heart aches for what you went through and I hope someday you know where your father is. I am so sorry for what stupid people did and that you have no knowledge of where your father rests. I am sure he is in heaven and watches after you. May you find peace and know that not everyone shares the beliefs of those who tortured an already hurting little girl. Your father was someone who cared for and served his country, a hero. Bless you now and always.

  • God Bless our Troops then and now and always.

  • Sir I would like to thank you for this song, and for all it stands for. My Dad was a Vietnam veteran and we lost him last year on July 9th, he had lung cancer they said was caused from the napalm that was used over there and it took them until 9 months before he died to admit to it. I thank God everyday for our veterans past, present and future...I simply wish that more civilians realized that freedom isn't free...thank you again Sir for giving us some words of comfort God Bless

  • I salute ALL the men and women who served this country in any and every war. I am the daughter of a career Marine. Dady finally retired from the Marine Corps in 1969 after thirty years of brave service. he was in Korea and came home with two purple hearts. I salute you all. Thank you for continuing the bravery. I just wish it meant mre to more.

  • as hon discharged viet nam viet, life went to hell for awhile..lost most of my family and my wife & children to someone else..life still goes on and I always pray for all us vets.

  • @clark3830 What about mothers or daughters? Thank you for your service sir, my mentor and the man I am proud to call my Grandpa is a USMC Vietnam Vet.

  • Thank you for this post. This is how it really was. My husband experienced this when he returned from Viet Nam. God bless all our soldiers!

  • To my Brothers who served Semper FI

  • I was 20 when I arrived in RVN, 1966. Times were changing in the United States and the people had no clue. The murder of a President, his brother and a civil rights leader was just the turning point as our world was being trashed. Our nations wealth planned to be eliminated and our Constitution destroyed. Communists and Socialists in Congress who swore an oath to our Constitution but the lied. You must be a patriot to love the Constitution - Liberty - Freedom - Independence. Tears falling

  • @echobiz I had just turned 21 when I arrived in RVN, 1970. saw death on both sides but I can say I believe that the world knows that we will defend what we believe in. Alabama Co. B 2/1 196th Amertical Division

  • Why hasn't this song been released on a record label? Toby Keith, Daryl Worley, or Maj. Billington himself......

  • What an amazing video! Thanks for sharing!

  • my mom is a vetern and my uncle and they are of duty and i am very proud that theyv are proud to be a vetearn

  • my daddy was a Vietnam vet... i love this, i lost him sept 2006.....

  • Comment removed

  • An amazing song. I was a very small child during the Vietnam war so I don't remember too much but my family has always had someone in the service. My husband served in the Gulf war and my son served Iraq and Afghanistan. I love and support US troops. Thank you for your service.

  • I spoke to my brother tonight about this, before I watched this video. Respect and pride in our military skipped a generation.... my Dad was a WWII hero, Normandy invasion with 1st Army, then my turn came in 1969 and no one cared, a crappy war I guess. But the good news is the respect is back, this generation serving in Iraq and Afghanistan is getting the heroes tribute again, which they deserve. Those of us from the Viet Nam era are fine with that, they are heroes, all of them. dk

  • How great is this. Everyone that had someone in the Vietnam War appreicated their service to their country.

  • I am a Vietnam Vet and will always salute any father or son fallen or alive that has served his Country in ANY capacity. They are the Brave and the Few.

Salute, Major Clark (vietnam vet and still serving.

  • @clark3830 Thank you and God Bless you for your service, sir. My heroes have always worn combat boots.

  • well done..

    3rd Batt. 7th Marines ChuLai,RVN 10/65-11/66

  • I made a promise to a friend who was a POW in Vietnam and I keep it by honoring those who serve, who served and those who paid the ultimate price. I WAS TOO YOUNG TO SAY IT THEN BUT THANK YOU TO ALL OUR VIETNAM VETERANS. YOU WERE SHAMEFULLY TREATED BY THE GOVERNMENT, MANY OF YOUR COUNTRY MEN AND WOMEN, BUT TO ME YOU ARE HEROS.

  • @Veni1961 Thank You

  • @Veni1961 i agree. they were treated horribly by a lot of those who claimed to be Americans. but no matter, i will ALWAYS honor and respect our Soldiers.

  • @Veni1961 as well me and my best friend even if we re to young to be there we are just teens but we want to be marines

  • @Veni1961 Thank you. RVN 1969-1970, age 19.

  • My dad is still MIA he was captured October 31 1965, and he still remains unaccounted for. I was old enough to remember being spat upon, and told my dad was a baby killer.

  • @powmiadaughter1965 I'm so sorry about your father, Sorrier stil for the way you've been treated. Your father is a true American hero and you should be proud of him. My prayers are with you and your family.

  • I was in high school at that time, I never hated or looked down on the men or women that were there...I was mad at our leaders for having a bad plan. We never did and still do not do enough for the people in the armed forces....should they get less than the members of congress, when they retire?

  • @ssb042152

They should get more.... Worlds more!

  • ya know i have always thought this.. how this country treated our solders coming back from vietnam has been terrible.... those men should have always been treated like heros... did they want to go to another country to fight? Most would say nay. I am a young buck, and in my life I have had the privileged experiance to work with a couple Viet Nam Vets..... They never bragged about killing... They saw some things that should never be seen....

  • My husband and all who served in Viet Nam carry the hurt all their lives.

What their country asked of them, they did, with pride, only to be betrayed by that country and its government. That is never forgotten or forgiven. At least those who serve now are honored for that service, and those Viet Nam veterans have been instrumental in seeing that what happened to them is not repeated with today's soldiers. Thank you for this lovely tribute.

  • HEY SERVED WITH LARRY 822TH CSPS 1968 SAFESIDE LOVE AND GOING TO SHARE THE SONG WITH OTHER .....RANGERS

  • @RICHARDALUISE I'm putting together a playlist for my cuz Marine Sgt. Allen Hayes, who was shot in the face and arm in Nam, bringing him home. He wanted to go back, to be with his buds. We lost him in May of this year to a heart attack...way too soon! I appreciate any suggestions from Nam Vets (espcially Marines..but all are welcome) for my playlist. Thanks to all the troops who served in Nam! Donna

  • Great song! I truly wish my good friend Larry Sutherland could have lived to hear this.He served in Vietnam and Desert Storm and passed away in October 2003.

  • i stand proud of every american soldier

  • Thank you for the song but the wounds and scares run deep. Too little, to late, but time marches on and waits for no-one...

  • GOD BLESS YOU SIR FROM A VETLIVING IN ENGLANDE 9/11 SURVIVOR GOD BLESS THE FDNY GOD BLESS THE U.S.A AND KEEP SAFE OUR TROOPS

  • real nice thank you major sends chills up the spine

  • Thanks for the song, Major. And thanks to all who post here honoring my brothers in arms. Sadly, the one's who this song and its posts could most help are no longer with us or so badly damaged that they will never hear or see this. God bless them. God bless my buddies who didn't come home. God bless them all.

  • My great-great grandfather was wounded at Chatanooga, TN in the civil war from Indiana. My grandfather and his brother fought in Italy and Normandy and my cousin Jimmy and several others went to Vietnam and came back changed. I always looked up to those men and joined the 82nd Airborne in 1985 and served almost 10 yrs until I was wounded and sent home for good myself. I will always remember the ones that didn't come back home as well as the ones who did. MAY GOD BLESS EVERY VETERAN AND FAMILY.

  • i still remember the day i came home from that place. it didn't take very long for a saddness about my life to overcome me. i learned real fast to keep my service to myself. to be a vietnam vet was to be cursed . for many years i did not discuss it, not even to my wife who told me when i came home,"i don't ever want to hear about where you were, i won't listen to it". no one really cared. as the vva says now.........."never again will one generation of veterans abandon another".

  • @vampirepossum Well Sir. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your service. All of us at that time didn't have only hate for our soldiers and this Country. I cared enough to join the Army in 72 and stay with it till 92. No matter what you can always find a true American willing to talk to you.

Again THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME TO THIS COUNTRY!

  • Maj., I thank you for my father-in-law who didn't make it out of la Drang valley in '65. They had to hide his coffin to get him home. I served in the Army from '72 to '92 and saw the times when it seemed that the people of this country hated the ones that were still willing to stand up and protect their rights to show this hatred. I want to say THANK YOU!!!! to all who have served and understand what it means "to serve". May God Bless All And Their Families.

Again sir,,,THANK YOU for this song

  • Thank you to all veterans....

  • God Bless all the wonderful men and women who have fought for our country & who are now serving in the military. Thank you, thank you, thank you I LOVE YOU ALL!!

  • God Bless all the wonderful men and women serving our country. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I LOVE YOU ALL!!

  • Thanks Major my family has been in every American war since 1776 and my beloved uncle and father of 4 took his own life due to the hardships of Nam and the problems when he came home, from one military family to another god bless and may you be safe.

  • May God bless those faithful enough to serve; god and country. May they not be so far apart. Miss you when you're gone and celebrate your return. I always feel better when you're near.

  • It's about time someone honors these Vets! They deserve more than they ever got. I remember the way these heroes were treated and it was disgusting! They deserved honor, respect, support and everything ee could give them and yet everyone treated them worse than dirt. It was a nightmare! They deserve more than anyone can give them. I'm glad for this video because it expresses everything that I felt for them then and now. I salute all of the vets of every war. God bless them all!

  • Thank You. Many still await the Purple Heart, promised long ago....

  • im 41 and my dad is burried n a national cemetary and next to him is a 21 year old marine who died on the same day i was born so our family adopted him as our own, since in 40+ years i only saw flowers once on his grave that wasnt put there by us

  • Thank you for this I am lucky enough to have two Marines in my life One a Vietnam Veteran and my son currently MATSG. I am proud of them both

  • Major I thank you or your service to this country. I am only 16 years but old enough to vaguely know what Vietnam veterans went through coming home. My father is a Vietnam veteran and I am proud of that fact. It is shown that you love this land through your music and military. So thank you and welcome sir.

  • I am a third Generation Veteran and my son will be the Fourth. I want to thank all Vietnam Veterans and I salute you all. I was a child when people spit on you and called you names. You all deserve so much and I intend to take up the torch and make sure you do. My Dad died a few years back. I think it was Agent Orange but he never talked about it. Thank Yall for your sacrifices. All MOS's Thank yall.

  • I am an 2x OIF Vet and I would like to take the time to thank the Vietnam Vets for being the first to welcome us home and the first to block the protesters so that what happened to them never happened to us. Thank you to all Vets but esspecially the Vietnam Vets!!!

  • Thank you from one veteran to another. I remember coming home in 1965 to go to college and meeting a hostile crowd of hippies and anti-war protesters, and yes I was called some awful names. I am so glad to see our current military getting the positive recognition they deserve, but we Vietnam-era veterans have never been welcomed home properly except by each other. Never forget Vietnam and all the sacrifices so many made and never came home or came home scarred for life.

    USN 1961-67

  • Thank you, Major Billington. I lived your song in 1969 returning home to Long Beach, California. I was a Bird Dog pilot in the 199th RAC unable to make the reunion. From one veteran to another, thank you for your moving tribute.

  • It's good to know you're still singing Jason! Wonderful song, I'm now the wife of an AF officer and proud of all of our service members and their families. And I daily remember a MIA soldier from the Vietnam war with a bracelet I wear. It makes me sad to know that there are many who don't appreciate the sacrifices that have been made for them by our military past and present.

  • Love for mankind... soldiers and citizens of the world. Peace is a must and it will cost much... understanding and support not yet shown by world leaders. I wish for peace.

Kingsmen 28 101st Airborne Combat Helicopter Pilot (NAM '68-'69)

  • Thank you Major. You put to touching words and music what so many of us felt and lived. I am thankful that we as a nation are starting to honor the soldier even if they hate the war. May God bless all of those who served in every way since the beginning. The price of freedom is far from free.

  • Thank you for your devotion to showing others understanding and grace. This was beautiful, J. I miss you buddy. If you ever want me to overlay some piano let me know an you can jsut email me this or any othr song.

  • America has long forgotten about te Vietnam vet -- America does not care -- they don't like to be reminded about how they spit on us and threw rocks at us and cursed at us with vile names.

Yet we fought willing for our country the one we all loved. spent 3 tours there as a Ranger Recondo Commando LRP / LRRP team leader was wounded several times yet chose to stay and fight with my team versus going home to an America that hated us.

  • Its an awsome song, We are proud of you. We love and miss you.

  • Great song and video Jason, Great to se you are keeping up the family tradition, with a wonderful song and an ohh so true message to everyone who has served , serving and in the future serve, never forget where you come from.

  • Thank you Major for the touching tribute. I was at the Ft. Rucker reunion also, and had a huge lump in my throat, and tears in my eyes throughout your performance there. This is the best song concerning us Viet Nam vets I've ever heard. It means a lot to us. Thank you for this, and thank you for your service to our country.

  • What an awesome song! Way to go MAJ Billington u ROCK hard....

  • Jay- Thank-you for honoring our veterans. They deserve our respect and gratitude. You are gifted beyond words. Keep using it to bless others. I'm so proud of you. Love you and miss you!

  • Thank you Major, for this beautiful song which should have never had to be written. The Vietnam Vets came home to boos and spits, being called baby killers and worse. All this from the cowards who hadn't the guts to take on what our military men & women did as they, suffered, died and were never again the same as the day they stepped onto Vietnam soil. Each coward who ran to hide in Canada is the worst of the worse.

  • I thanked you then, I thank you now. Many family and friends went to Vietnam, some did not return. Some were POW and continue to suffer even today. This country owes much to our military - past, present and future, but most of all we owe them the gratitude and respect they deserve. No one has the right to give them less.

  • I was at the reunion and was very touched by your song. Major, thank you for your service and thank you for your this talented tribute to a bunch of old vets. God bless you, God bless our troops, and God bless America.

  • I attended the reunion a Ft Rucker. There was not a dry eye in the auidence whin you performed this.song. Great job Major !!!!!!!

  • You are so very talented. Awesome song!!!!

  • BEAUTIFUL JASON!!!!! You are an amazing guy!!! LOVE YOU ALL & MISS YOU!!!
