  • I still have my 3DO... and this game... Time for an all nighter =)

    Vote for me!

  • Probably the most cropped game screen ever... Piss poor port. And it STILL slowed down. Only thing going for it was the music.

  • 3DO theme is EPIC . Too bad no one had a 3DO.

  • @LegendofNintendo17 It's actually a good thing because the actual game itself was a horrible port.

  • I think slowing it down added a nice "Epic" touch. Too many metal-heads spam the notes as fast as they can when they remake this song and ends up sounding like noise or a screamo.

  • BANG! BANG! BANG!

    Imp doing the Cha-Cha

  • na PC version of DOOM, with a hi-res mod & slap this music in and you have the best version of doom to date :)

  • eargasm

  • when i was play doom i was bored but after i played that music with the game

i start to blast zombies head and kick demons ass

  • Badass fucking rendition!

  • Ps1 Port and 3do music With Zdoom FTW

  • @MultiDarklover cuz the developers that use the source code jacked off too much

  • Comment removed

  • F%&#ng Badass!...This song is gonna be my ringtone from now on.

  • @MultiDarklover cause if u play it sped up ur head will explode

  • Meh, I prefer the classic E1M1.

  • This is my l4d tank theme

  • It's like one of those horrible fan remixes, but without the horrible part. :D

  • buen tema sigue asi :)

  • buen tema sigue asi :)

  • Isn't "At Doom's Gate" supposed to be speed metal? This is pretty intimidating but it's not exactly the same feeling.

  • this needs to be first level of doom 4

  • Cant say I like it as much as the original music, but this sounds approriately epic.

Slap it on Doom 4 as the music for the first level. THAT would be phenominal.

  • The 3DO blew ass but it has the best music.

  • KICK........FUCKING......ASS.........

  • Awesome! But I think the SNES version of this song was the best

  • thank god for the music on this

    it pwns

  • The best version BY FAR

  • I HATE heavy metal, but this is awesome!!!

  • And yet you play DOOM.

  • Classic game. I have the PC version. The PS port is the best one in my opinion. The sound track off 3DO sounds phenomenal. If you like classic and next gen video game reviews check out my channel.

  • The 3DO sucked hard but Doom on it has the best music out of any version.

  • @GunsOfThePhoenix Same deal with the 3DO port of Wolfenstein 3D. Best music of all, even better than the Mac remake, but the game itself was horrible and unbalanced. The 3DO was just poorly done, even though its hardware was top-notch.

  • @Vidszhite how the hell the 3DO port of wolf3d is horrible

    decent controls

    decent frame rate

    great music and graphics

    with over 90 levels

and known as the best wolf3d port of all time

the only good thing about the jaguar port of wolf3d is just the graphics nothing else even the snes port is better than the jaguar port

ok yeah the graphics are horrible but the controls are alot more better cuz you can circle strafe with all 30 levels

  • @killkenny5000 I must have gotten the 3DO version mixed up with the Jaguar version.

  • @Vidszhite the only bad port of wolf3d is only the GBA port

the rest of the ports are good but some are like a disappointment

the doom ports however their are more crappy ones than the wolf3d ports

    doom-32x_saturn_original xbox_3DO_GBA (except doom 2)

    the only good ports

jaguar_snes_PSX_360_PC (thats where doom was born)_MAC_amiga (the amiga port is a pretty rare port)

  • @killkenny5000 The jaguar port changed the balance of the game too much by allowing you to reach up to 201% health and a gazillion bullets without upping the enemy strength, and it borrowed a lot of its graphics straight from Doom. It did look very nice, but it made the game extremely easy, and it's already not hard if you know what you're doing.

  • @Vidszhite yah the jaguar port isnt the best port since it only have 30 levels and easy health pick ups by using tressure

but the GBA pot is alot worst

1.crappy control 2.no music (i mean literally no music even though doom on jaguar has no music during the gameplay it still have music at the end of the stats screen) 3.well its just a rly cheap port :l

  • how you can focus on killing demons when the music its so kick-ass???

  • Is this the definition of fuck yes

  • SNES controls + 3DO's music + Jaguars graphics = Best doom evar

  • This music is just awesome!

  • sounds more like final boss song then a first level song

  • Even though I hate Nintendo, I think the Snes version is great for it's time. I love my Jag though, and heard that the reason the sound track was missing is due to cartridge space and cost, and not processing power. 32X Doom is 3MB, the Jag version is 4MB with much higher quality textures. A 6MB Cartridge back then would have been way to costly.

  • THIS MUSIC IS KICK ASS!!!

  • doom 3do was the best even the cover is has good detail but the game graphics lack

  • sad that 3DO was crap but this music sounded like a rock song

  • The most known DooM music.

The most greatest Doom music. (double superlative, ha at you grammar nazis!)

The best version of the music.

  • Comment removed

  • @Wesley683 actually i dont, fuckknight?

  • a shame that the 3DO port's frame rate had to be so sh*tty........... excellent music though

  • This sounds like it would be in a sarges heros level. well duh its 3DO

  • This music would be more suited to the style of halo, but the echo makes it sound more full of fear.

  • The 3DO version had great music, I just wish it was more fast paced.

  • My head exploded.

  • Yeah, here it comes...

    More cowbell!

  • PWNAGE!

  • i still prefer the pc version or the remixed ones.

  • O..M...G!!!EPIC

  • That is a nice version soundtrack.

  • slap the jaguars graphics and the 3d0's music together and there ya go best console port of doom

  • they did that actullay

  • Actually, they're both missing a lot of levels.

I'd say, 3DO's music, Jaguar's graphics, 32x's controls, SNES's base gameplay and levels (includes all levels (except secret ones) and also has all the bosses).

  • SNES is missing many levels.

SNES totals 21 levels, which is less than Jag, 3DO, etc's 24 levels. (PC Doom is 27 levels)

I'd take the SNES controller over the 32X's...L and R for strafe is good times.

I'd take the Jaguar's game play too...with the 32X soundtrack, since it's most like the PC versions (if you played that version, I don't know, personally I don't like remixes like SNES and 3DO have) ideally I'd take the PC soundtrack and levels of course.

Which I can, thanks to jDoom

  • Actually, SNES Doom had 22 levels. It was only missing E1M6 - Central Processing, E2M2 - Containment Area, E2M5 - Command Center, E2M7 - Spawning Vats and E3M5 - Unholy Cathedral (basically the largest maps in the game).

@Reconite11: Actually SNES Doom had all the secret maps.

  • You're right, I counted wrong by mistake.

  • @PimpUigi yes but the snes game cartrige of doom had little space since the snes was not able to support 3d grapics so a lot of the space was used to do that plus the 32x suppoted the 3d grapichs and it had less levels then the snes and the music was worse also the jad yes it was a good port of doombut they

  • @PimpUigi had no music during the real gamplay only on the status screen which is really screwed up. the snes to put the longer levels on whould be very short then istead of 22 levels you would get about 14 levels with the bigger maps and honestly sompeople like doom being shorter because the game gets very repeditive in it's own gamplay

  • @PimpUigi

    I believe you are mistaken.

The 32x soundtrack sounded like shit.

It sounded like choking an angry pony to death under a sea of bear blood, which sounds like it would be awesome, but doesn't actually sound awesome at all.

Regardless, for the soundtrack, I'd stick to the original. You can't lose with the original Doom, even if it's a "Choose a game that isn't Doom" contest, you can't lose.

  • @Durntdewd I dont understand how a sea of bear blood affects your hearing more than regular blood but anyway I take it you have tried the whole choking a pony thing?

  • @bittmunch Every saturday night. My girlfriend is obsessed with it for some reason.

  • @PimpUigi I hate to point this out and be a 'sperging goon but the SNES version doesn't have "remixes", the soundtrack is a straight-up port of the PC version, it just uses a different soundchip so the instruments it plays are different. The 3DO versions do seem to be different arrangements though.

  • @gameguy09 Don't forget the SNES controller.

  • @gameguy09 Doom PS1 was the best version; soundtrack was good but different, so keep some of it and add Doom 3DO's best tracks.

  • @gameguy09

PS1 Graphics and 3DO Music, best console port right THERE

  • @jballen90 Not really.

  • @gameguy09 I love the music from the 3do version, but the Jaguar version graphics were terrible! The menus were okay but in game was very poor. I think the playstation was the best port overall and the in game music was swapped for atmospheric effects was worked well.

  • Ok this....is...truely...greatness.

The GBA Dooms Gate was on Level 9 for some reason. Its good, for an old handheld.Same with Wolfenstien

  • This music is of Joe Satriani quality! Amazing!!! Awesome guitar work!

  • no, it is not

  • This is actually pretty awesome.

  • I have to disagree with the SNES music lovers. I have the SNES, N64, PS1, Doom 3 SOE version on XBOX, and the DOS PC version of this game. I think the best is the 3DO version of which I do not have that is being played in this vid. Ofcourse the PS1 and 64 versions really can't be compared since their music is totally different. I think the best is the Doom 3 SOE on XBOX has the best version under the 3DO. Then the SNES. And the absolute worst is the Sega 32X version.

  • What about the GBA?

  • The GBA version is pretty bad, but passable especially for being a GBA which isn't known for it's sound quality. The 32X version is so bad it's funny. I downloaded the first 8 songs for the 32X Doom just so I could laugh at how bad it sounds.

  • Agreed, have you heard the 32X's Dooms Gate song? Its bad, really bad.

The GBA doom and Wolfenstein are good, for a handheld port, I still need to find them again on Amazon or something and play them.

  • but the gameplay for the 32x is way better than snes

  • hahaha I can't understand why the thumbs down! 32X version is ages ahead of snes version... and the music quality was just fine different but still Doom music.

  • I completely agree.

It's like anyone who tries to tell the truth about the 32X version gets thumbs down till the end of eternity.

People don't like hearing what they don't yet know.

    It scares them.

32X's music was extremely similar to the PC's original music played on a Soundblaster.

SNES had remixes like people make for jDoom/Risen 3D.

    3DO has OCRemix level Remixes.

I'd take the 32X myself because I want what's close to the PC version.

32X had the best frame rate of console Doom, sans PSX

  • The Atari jaguar is the best version IMO. Except no music.

  • Exactly.

No music...it is certainly the best not counting that aspect.

Which is why I pick the new Homebrew 24 level version of 32X as the best version for me.

PC version soundtrack, 24 levels, fast frame rate, good resolution (not as good as Jag's, and no monster fighting like Jag) just wish there wasn't a glitch in level 15 (the exit sends you to the last level, ending the game early, which forces you start the Inferno chapter with no weapons)

  • @PimpUigi: I don't get why so many people say that the SNES version has remixes. I just went back and compared the PC tracks and the SNES tracks again, and they are the same (other than some obvious sample and quality differences). Google "doom 2 music", click the first result (Doom Depot), and compare the "SNES Doom" section's tracks and the "Ultimate Doom" tracks under the "Ultimate Doom & Doom 2 MP2s (from Doomworld)" section.

  • @PimpUigi No the music was crap the SNES version was closest to PC and it WAS missing levels. The AVGN wouldn't lie to us... would he?

  • But half the levels are missing.

  • only if you had the six button sega pad

  • Sounds like a remix... 5/5.

  • This would be perfect song for a sarges heros one song if you dont know the freaking amazing of sarges heros look it up NOW!

  • where did my comment go? lol, all i said was- cowbell? thats real epic, i hate this version, clarity is good! snes version owned this one because it was basically the PC version on steroids (music)

  • MORE COWBELL

  • this is the best by far oh well it's your opinion

  • I completely agree with you there. Someone said that this was the best version, so I came here to check it out. Man, this version IS HORRIBLE. Sorry 3DO lovers, but the SNES version kills this one.

  • Unlike the other Doom "At Doom's Gate" themes I've heard, which pumps you up and gives you an adrenaline rush, this one takes it down a notch and becomes more focused and makes you want to kick ass. Totally bad-ass instead of psycho.

  • @littleNorwegians I don't know the Super Nintendo version made me feel like a Psycho-Badass.

  • Lol, this kind of sounds like the intro to an 80's tv show.

Its still great though, because, after all, its Doom.

  • Best Doom music EVAR.

  • Sounds good but it's too slow in my opinion.

  • same, the sound is much better than the other versions but it just lacs the same tempo

  • And off-key.

On the other hand, I tried to speed it up just enough to make the notes coincide with those of the original version. It became epic.

  • 3DO music + PC/PS1 graphics would have been amazing.

  • the best version of doom ever is the xbox live arcade one because it is an exact port of the pc with hd graphics and online and offline multiplayer (co-op or versus) and its only £4

  • Epic.

  • DAAAAAAAAAYMMM this sounds better that the super nintendo version

  • Better than PC guy! Its incredible.

  • this sounds better than ANY version of DOOM.

  • Awesome depth. Easily the best console Doom music. This one is the closest to rivaling the PC E1M1 in awesomeness even if the temp is a bit slow, but there was still no beating the PC for titular price/value.

  • Did they need to slow it down 2x?

  • yes, because the 3DO port of doom had a slow frame rate, so they slowed the music to match the frame rate.

  • Amazing!! The background tunes is so cool!

  • y would doom 4 the 3do is so bad in the game but good music but nothing tops wolfenstein 3d for the 3do it is nice and smooth than the doom 3do because wolfenstein has the hi res graphics and better frame rate thats y i top wolfenstein 3d for the 3do

  • man that is just a bad ass theme.

  • To all the people who say these version of the music is slow, it coinsides with the speed the 3DO port runs at because the 3DO version had a horrendous frame-rate.

  • Holy fuck... that is just awesome. As mentioned, a bit slow but the arrangement and depth is sweet.

  • Bad ass

  • A bit slow.Speed it up and i would find it the best rendition ever.

  • Yeah aside from the PC game this version of Doom had my favorite soundtrack. Only problem was a bunch of the songs were missing.

  • Wow, didnt have a clue that the 3DO version had this good music, its awesome.. but like previous posters said, to bad it cost a fortune to buy. Atleast we can listen to it here and laugh at the 32x for being beaten YET AGAIN XD

  • cool but because of the price of the 3DO knowone besides the hardcore knew this awsome music.

  • Alright

  • a bit slow but for the rest FUCK YEA!

  • get DOOM 3DO version music add the PC version of DOOM or a 3D Mod of it & you get a fucking great soundtrack & game

  • Wow, that is the best version of the theme I have EVER heard. Too bad the 3DO sucks. Really it truly sad.

  • WOW what awesome music

  • ha sounds like pokemon battle music lol

    Wild Cacodemon has appeared

  • Did this justify $600 for a 3DO back in the day? Hmmm......I'd say not.

  • Sadly, the music is the best part of the 3D0 port.

  • This is so freaking awesome I almost cried XD

  • one word BADASS!

  • Ya, everytime i hear this song, it reminds me of Top Gun. In fact, I bet it's from the guys that did the Top Gun soundtrack! lol, just kidding. I don't really think so... but still, it sounds like I'm watching Top Gun rather than playing Doom.

  • After listening to it again, it really does sound like something you would hear from Top Gun, but you know what?

    It's awesome!

  • To each their own.

  • GREAT song! bobby prince did an EXCELLENT job using like almost no other the sounblaster/yamaha opl chips (dos doom) but this 3DO is even better in some aspects, really well instrumentated!

I wouldn't mind hearing this when I played dos doom long time ago!

Like others said in other comments, the dos doom version of this track was faster and more berserk! I like the two versions though.

Wonder who did these 3DO doom versions, you can feel the work put on them

5 stars! (use the &fmt=18 trick!)

  • I don't know what to say. Is it the best version? Well it sounds far better than any other versions of At Doom's Gate, but... its slow...

  • 1:35 that was soo buatifal

  • This version is really really excellent!

I wonder who realized this version with real instruments. It sounds really kick ass.

  • Too slow.

  • Die KRupps!

  • whoo nice version, a bit more mellow than normal its gd

  • superior music to SNES, but SNES is still the best buy

  • No PSX FTW

  • PSX version failed

  • Why did it fail? I mean it's THE best version of Doom in my opinion

  • PSX isn't even the same feel.

  • I think it has the right atmosphere even tho i'd like to se the original doom tracks come over to the playstation...

  • It has a different atmosphere which is why it sucks. The original was perfect.

  • Well we have diffrent opinions that's all...

  • PC is the best

  • A little better than the SNES

  • 3do was the best and this was the best version of doom

  • yeah this is the best version so long as you dont play the game lol

  • this is like the original but its slower and better like, effects i guess

  • i like this better that the orignal ves. but the e1m5 is better in the old ves.

  • This is my favorite version of the song! I downloaded it right away!

  • even though the 3DO died out, games like this saved its reputation. Especially the music.

  • sweet...

  • Are you kidding? This is the best version. It's got the best instrumentation, the best quality, and it's really dark and eerie.

  • Listen to those pinch harmonics, must have had Zakk Wylde do the song

  • great to hear the music on the 3DO,

Played all version of DOOM on all formats,

    3DO had some great tunes,

    just like WOLF 3D.

  • Cool, but the original version of this track was better

  • One question, what is 3DO?

  • An early CD based videogaming/"multimedia" console from the 90's. Do a search for it on wikipedia (I'd link to it myself if stupid YouTube let me post links in these comments :\ )
