  • i think microkorg is much better.

  • That sounds sick

  • Is this capable of making trance type music?

  • @xCloudxKellyx the Ultranova is suitable for a variety of genres

  • @NovationTV ok thank you!

  • Kids today and their dubstep..

I wanna know about other stuff than wobbles, damnit!

  • That demo certainly didn't sell the product. No offence.

  • what is a similar product but cheaper?

  • We can do the same with Massive VST !

  • And this my children, shows how easy it is to make Skrillexy dubstep.

  • the drummer is wearing a Bauhaus shirt. i feel offended seeing it with this product.

  • this synth is amazing!!!

  • How much does this cost?

  • @BeatboxingMinecratia

Ultranova costs £499 from your local retailer.

  • music just got easy

  • I'll remember not to buy anything by Olly B Sides. More like B Sucks. This has to be one of the worst product demos I've ever heard.

  • what is the other Novation keyboard that they show?

  • i wait a long time for this synth but......... the supernova 2 still is 1000000 times better than this sorry....

  • is the narrator's voice being processed by the Ultranova vocoder?

  • yeah I agree on some comments.. this is bad advertisement, but I like this synth and I am a big fan of novation products. I demand novation to make a better one for ultranova, like you did before on sl mkii, launchpad and nocturn

  • @orientalflux the live beats with the launcpad is a way better ad than this lol.

  • Love you Novation. I still rely on my Remote 25 to this very day, but did tired, used, and abused dubstep have to be the first thing I hear?

  • This. Isn't good at all.. Really... Do you have a "suck" knob? cause ya need to turn that one down. Alot.

  • hey Novation what is the patch number for the beginning "dubstep" patch? and did you call it the supernova cause "NOVAtion" ????

  • This is such a terrible add...does this thing offer midi support through USB? Whats the point of spending 600 on something I can easily accomplish through any basic DAW?

  • @badrunofluck1 Well a lot of people still insist that hardware gives you better sound. I think it's good to always own at least one physical synthesizers. This one's price isn't bad. I only use DAW because I can't afford anything else. It's cost effective for me, but I want a synth to.

  • I can make a patch for Ultranova which will cause it to stop producing sound. I asked Novation about this but they gave me no answer to this phenomenon. Can any of you explain this?

  • Can't think of a single reason to spend $699. for something like this. Here's a better plan: Spend $100 on an old used instrument, take 20 weeks of music lessons at $20 each, (that's $400.) So far you've only spent $500 and you're already 10 times the musician you'll ever be simply pressing buttons and tweaking knobs. Use the extra $200 to buy something nice for your mom.

  • novation - your ads suck...big time...

    great synth btw.

  • How do you change you tempo on this thing if your using it as a synth?

  • Great, another midi controller i don't need

  • I played with this st GC it's frick'n awesome! Yes it comes with dubstep and many others.

  • No wonder why Novation can't sell it much as it deserves. Change the Ads you'll double the sale.

  • does the dubstep stuff already come on the synth or has it been modified ?

  • nowadays ppl are just making up sounds and using knobs to filter the sounds out and its like the new trend but its musicless if you ask me

  • Shitty music..SOULESS

  • @advokat685 Dubstep, House, some old 80's style stuff, 90's for those chunky basses, the odd electro, all sorts really, the synth can satisfy my needs for those genres (: what about you?

  • I've just got this synth this morning, it's fantastic for multiple uses, i'm really pleased with it and i've only just started covering the surface of it. At first i thought it was going to be hard but actually it's fairly straight forward. (:

  • is the first voice a preset?

  • is this like, autotune???

  • @AListKing no, autotune is no vocoder.

  • Great product, terrible promo lol

  • is it a real synthesizer or can you just select sounds and change them?

with that I mean that with real synthesizers you should be able to go from a standard sound to any sound you'd want. Or recreate one of the presets.

  • @MenneBeats its a subtractive synthesizer.

  • i bought this synth.. returned it for zildjian drum cymbals, then bought it again.

  • wow :0

  • Plus a crap voice over made to sound like a cyborg. This isn't Star Trek it's a fucking promo for a synth....

  • @LotusTwink all of them

  • finally an effective wobble on a synth

  • @SamAbelMusic what... :p

  • @MrWimz and effictive wobble bass effect on a synth.. my microkorg xl has awful wobbles

  • @SamAbelMusic effective*

  • I just got mine today, it sounds AMAZING and it's incredibly easy to make dubstep tracks. The vocoder works great for breakdowns. This plus the Launchpad make doing live shows sooo easy! Best hardware synth for the money, hands down.

  • this synth rocks, end of story. i just cant understand why they made such an awful promo video for it.... 'the ultranova comes with 300 sounds... so we're only gonna show you 2 of them...'

  • this is synth and midi?

  • @chingueasumadretodo The Ultranova is a typical MIDI device, synthesizer and 2 in 4 out sound card. It has MIDI in / out and thru ports and can be powered either by USB connection or a PSU.

  • @chingueasumadretodo yes to both!!

  • very good novation .

  • very goood novation .

  • wow looks shit

  • Can I use it also without a PC/Mac? I mean "standalone", like a normal keyboard.

  • @petrusini10 Yes, this can be used as a live synthesizer without the need for connecting to a PC or Mac.

  • @NovationTV It's really cool that you actually answer the viewers questions. Your cool NovationTV!! :)

  • I see that there are 6 envelopes, 1 for Amp, 1 for Filter and 3,4,5,6.

Is there any way to assign an envelope per each of the 3 Oscillator?

  • its made of plastic isnt it...?

  • Comment removed

  • Can you use this as a MIDI controller too?

  • @mreffinsweet Yes, the Ultranova acts as a typical MIDI Device. This controller can be used with Automap also to control a number of DAWs / plugins.

  • that has to be the worst dubstep i have ever heard.. most weakass derivative wobble bass ever, with no layering of freqs to it at all. oh of course, its one part timbre... what an insult to dubstep producers thinking they would be impressed by that.

especially if you compare the sounds to say, the razor softsynth by NI, now that sounds kickass.

and that girl is not even using it in the video at 0.55!!!

still, i reckon it possibly is ok when you get to play with it. just ignore this clip!

  • As a MIDI controller?

  • Csn I use this in logic 9.00?

  • So im a noob when it comes to hardware synths, what is the process for using one of these in your DAW? Does the software for the ultranova allow you to use it like a vst?

If not, Im guessing you do some sort of midi out to the instrument and have the daw play whatever notes you want on the nova and then record what is played back into your daw as an audio file? Yes / No?

  • @rodanmusic1 The Ultranova Editor does not play patches like a standard VST Instrument. It simply edits the patches of the connected Ultranova Synth. In your DAW you can easily bounce / record your patches by USB connection if you are using the Ultranova as your interface. Otherwise, you can connect the Master Outs to an interface and the same theory applies.

  • @NovationTV Thanks for the info!

  • what if you already have a high quality audio interface, would this cause problems?

maybe there should be a version less the audio interface at a cheaper cost for those who already have interfaces...

  • god i hope this thing can synthesize better sounds. what were they thinking using these patches for a promo?

  • Wicked! I just learned from the sonicstate test video that the Ultranova is also capable to modulate FX parameters and offers chord memory. Super! I want one. ;)

  • compared to the others, this promo really sucks, lol, and i guess that's because they don't have that curly hair green shirt guy using it

  • just bought one last night for 100 dollars off. after onlly an hour of playing it I can say this little axe fucking delivers! gritty eoto style womps, defining leads. smooth pads and prickly highs. this thing is great . the software is awesome as well

  • This instrument sounds so and looks so amazing! My mom called me more then 5 or 10x? She got sick of calling me so she came in my room and beat the crap out of me with a belt. But that whole time, I was still staring and listening to the video/sound. I must get this amazing technology ASAP!

  • this looks BA

  • can you use this with a KORG sampler?

  • @pumpkinreaper54 Yes , of course !

  • Sorry to have offended... that was not my intent. I have owned a number of Novation musical instruments and have always found them to be 'cutting edge" technology. The marketing just did not work for me. It is all good. Have a great year 2011

  • can you use this with ableton live?

  • @beable4this The Ultranova works as a Synth / Soundcard in any DAW and as a controller for a number of DAWs (listed in the DAW Setup Guide)

  • I really like this synth. Might get this instead of the microkorg.

  • @VenVile Pls dont get it i so regret buying that peice of shit microkorg

  • That is some weak-ass wobble in the beginning

  • @taconip why...i did not see your face then...

  • The guy playing drums has a Bauhaus T shirt!!!

  • this thing is awesome and all but the commercial just is really an insult to synths like seriously most people just want synths for arpeggiators and effects and they just press and hold keys it was better back when people actually played synth like they should be used: like a piano an instrument that takes skill and is for awesome solos and stuff ,sorry not trying to insult anybody

  • There was almost no talent used in making the music on this video. Hopefully most of the people who use this will play more than one note and turn knobs.

  • @fakecloud I agree....The music in this video sounds like they got a bunch of retarted kids to go crazy on the keyboards and recorded it.

  • @mrbusters You realize however that the preparation time spent to set up these instruments and setting up macros to control the synth is what makes this look so easy? Hours and hours and hours getting the patches just right.

  • @mrbusters nope. its called dubstep

  • @fakecloud This video is awful... I like Novation gear... :-) but when it comes to Marketing... those Brits are clueless!

  • I demoed the Ultranova in my local keyboard shop today. I love the way this baby sounds and controls, but I want to see a 61 key version as well!

  • this looks so amzing i want one now :)

  • This vid does not do this synth justice. Bought one yesterday and it is absolutely one serious piece of gear. played the Roland Gaia too in the same shop and never looked back once the guy plugged in the Ultra. Flawless interface with Cubase SX. It even updated itself when it was plugged in true USB. Mindblowing sounds, that's a fact. Novation has grown wise and old. No more dodgy keyboards. This gear is an instand classic, watch my words.

  • Can someone PLEASE tell me whether or not I can hook this up to a korg kaossilator (which btw uses standard line inputs) I'm new to all this synth stuff and could really use this answer

  • Promo Video Fails , Synth Rocks .

For the people complaining about it being a VIRTUAL analog synth :

If you like 20 knobs , full patch , and a 100% analog soundpad , buy yourself a modular

If you like midi and almost full routing , and don't want to spend a fortune on a modular , buy this

I played it , and i absolutely love it :)

  • @thesilentguymusic Could not agree more. Trew my juno's and other vintage gear out of the window and bought me one of these. No more backpain carying the real stuff to a gig for me thank you very much. Had more stress keeping those real analogs alive and kicking than I was playing music at one time. Sure I had analogs but had to use samples of them in a live gig....I don't have a problem with purists but the should not have a problem with VA's to. They mix and match. That's all.

  • that did nothing for me~

  • what r the presets used to make this video?

  • Can i route the sound over usb to an audio channel in cubase?

Or must i have a mixer to connect the UltraNova and my PC ?

  • @Tupapupa 1-yes you can

    2- No

  • does this synth load patches from supernova or nova?if not this not nova synth engine i think....

  • it is not compared to the supernova series

  • I think this looks perfect for my setup - small enough to sit on a desk next to my laptop, and lightweight and usb powered. I still use a remote 25 audio and love it to death - have made many patches in it, and love the synth engine - and the ultranova looks better again!

Good work novation for thinking about what us musicians really want... This will absolutely rock my little home studio.

  • can this be used as a usb midi controoler my set up is very basic logic reason and a usb keyboard im goin to get this but i wanna know if i need to get a mixer or an interface to handle it some 1 help thanx

  • @AlvinationMusic Yes this can be used to control your Mixer and other devices in Logic and Reason. Please make sure you download the latest version of Automap and ensure you read the DAW Setup Guide.

  • @AlvinationMusic if ur going to use this synth as usb controller...???....kill yourself...¡

  • Definitely a very nice entry level synth! Shame the same editor software is not available for the older (original) Supernova synths.

  • can i use this with a basic set up ie run it thru midi via usb have a very basic set up laptop n a 25 key midi can i se this synth with all of its features via usb or do i have to get an external interface or mixer

  • What happened to the color of unit--on the box and in this promo it's a cool bright blue, but in real life it looks more like a dull dark blue. I want the original blue one--is there a choice?

  • Novation Ultranova vs Roland Gaia. Who would win in a face-off?!

Ultranova has a vocoder. Gaia has a D-Beam. Ultranova has aftertouch. Gaia has more knobs and faders. Ultranova has more space for sound storage. Gaia has combined pitch/modulation controll. Etc etc

Which VA should I get if I am into live performing?

    Any thoughts on this?

  • @soulinthesystem i recommend the ultranova, in a live situation its very simple and powerful

  • @soulinthesystem i would have the gaia any day of the week

  • Novation Ultranova vs Roland Gaia. Who would win in a face-off?!

  • eh, they didnt show us much, id like to see more sounds being shown. I know it sounds like it would be pretty useful but id really like to see more of the possibilities

  • Why would I buy this instead of buying the RADIAS Module?! They are retailing for around the same price!

  • Sounds like ass.

  • WTF Doesn't anyone know how to play anymore!!! This synth is great but the demo is horrible. Wobble bass sound forever. No one is playing anything. There are so many people that could have put together a kick ass demo why they chose this is beyond me. I'm still can't wait to get one though.

  • Not the best Promo Video, but the synthesizer ist WOOOOSAAAAAAA!

  • When does this come out!?! or did it come out?

  • Nothing, she could be green, homosexual with one leg ... makes no diff to me, she is just the worst performer...

Get it played and don't try and twist my words...

    Fitvideo

  • This has to be the worst promo video ever! Get a player to play it , not some pseud DJ types , including the black girl, playing one note at a time and tweaking ...any clown can do that ... I want to hear it played...

It almost put me off buying one ...

    regards

    Paul

  • @Fitvideo What does the fact that she's black and female have to do with anything?

  • Thane Krios on da mic :P

Impressive synth. Powerful, just like the whole Nova series.

  • Fook it got one pre ordered..roll on November :)

  • i orderd one ,cant wait when i get it,people thinking this is shit ,well isnt anything else for that matter shit?its all about sounddesigning and this synth seems to do more then my fantom so i will be happy with it

  • @1:19 you can see a rare case HiBassDrumHat Syndrome

  • that sounds shit

  • Off the chart! Believe me as I have touched and heard it. It's based on the SuperNova technology but with features that I wished the SuperNova had. This vid does not do it any justice but play with one and it will freak you out.

  • Off the chart believe me I have touch one and heard it. This vid does not do it justice.

  • this hurts so much

  • I've seen these kinda promo vids before and they are usually crap,I never judge anything on these..I will demo one in the store before deciding me thinks..But anyone judging this now without trying is an idiot!!

  • This is one of the worst 'patronising' promo vids i have ever sat through. I think even the 'kiddies' making dubstep are going to be laughing at you novation...get a grip will ya lol

  • Totally agree, I have just pre ordered there are some great features for the price...it can get pretty deep if you want it to...not as deep as some of the softsynths...but this is a £500 synth and what you get seems great!

Hope the build quality is ok, this could be a very nice 'alrounder' for people on a budget...daw intergration at this price is a real alternative to Viruses etc..although this is not multi...that wont bother me tbh.

Using this live would be fun too very nice touches.

  • the user manual is available at novation website... I've read some part of it... this is gonna be a very programmable and capable synth, there are a zillion of features... the promo is really lame anyway!!! terrible demo.

  • Big fan of Novation here, but what a shit promo.

  • Make it 3X multi-timberal and offer a 61 key version and I'll buy one.

  • @kidgloves2

    my thoughts exactly.

    multi-timbrel

    88 key

master keyboard functions like channel assignable zones

    full midi controller capabilities

maybe even trigger pads and x-y pad

    now we're talkin

  • 1:30 desperatley need sidechain on the kick!!!!!! KIDS WANT FIDGET!

  • I can't wait to get one of these bad boys

  • the drummer looks pissed off like he feels stuck playing boring beats to boring music... though a good musician should be able to break new ground within a song/genre... and a great drummer can inspire other bandmates... i hope electronic dance music progresses out of it's incestuous stagnancy...

  • is it not up for sale yet because i dont see any thing on the site

  • Dubsteppers =P Bo0M!

  • This video doesn't show how good is the sound of this synth! We need to know how does it sounds.... in the end sound is the most important!!! is not just how many it handle presets and sensitive touch, so on...

  • Mono-Timbral == not close to Supernova II

  • No evolution then... same synth engine as the Supernova. Mutton dressed as Lamb?

For the same price, I could get Roland's Gaia and that's not a compliment! I had a SuperNova II for a while, but I always thought it sounded too digital. Yeah, ok, the filters were good, but even with all 3 oscillators on the go it just sounded a bit "static". I ended up selling it for the Alesis ION, which I still rely on.

We have genuine analogue products from Moog and Oberheim - Someone should revive ARP : )

  • @BroadWaveModular

ok, then buy the roland gaya... who cares?!

  • @BroadWaveModular I guess its different strokes for different folks. I had an Alesis Ion for a while and I hated it. I even preferred my little Novation K-Station in many ways. I think the UltraNova looks interesting but not mind blowing. Same goes for the Gaia.

  • woe..this makes me feel old, seems rather cheesy...really is this a korg...I prefer my knob per function multitimbral ks4...tweak and touch modes look fun all the same.

I hope the price is right below 350$.

Novation seems to overprice it's products.

  • I couldn't believe my own eyes. I thought Novation quit synths. And finally went back to Blue! I miss my Supernova II 48 voice. This may be my way of bringing Novation back to my studio. I wonder if the old patches work on it. Hope not this is a tactical use of a successful brand, and being a blue version of X-station. I hope this really is based on the Nova series.

  • I want this thing for christmas!

  • @Stollentroll32 Certainly would look good under the tree with all those lights;-)

  • Man... too bad it's not multi-timbral. That would have made this 10 times more awesome.

  • @Biopharmer

I would think the price would increase due to the need of more processing power. I hope they make a bigger one like the Supernova II. Or maby a multi-timbral Rack version as well.

  • isnt really what i have been hoping for! why not step it up novation and top the supernova!? i have been dreaming of the next big thing from you guys and this is what you bring us! blasphemy!!!
