  • Dempsey had a punch like the kick from a missouri Jack mule. Who cares how dark he looked, or what time in history he fought? He was a great heavyweight champion who was truly game.

  • thanks for the justice this film deserves. this was a very important cultural moment in the usa. this is the dawn of the modern electronic age. dempsey was the physical transitional figure that ushered that in. 1 foot was climbing out of the last days of the wild west of his colorodo youth & the other was leading the 1st golden age of mega gated media driven events. its all here to see, the symbolic frenetic energy in dempsey wh/ mirrored the go go decade to come in the roaring '20's.

  • Jess Willard will always be the stiff who filled the gap between the great Jack Johnson and the great Jack Dempsey

  • Why does Dempsey not get credit for being a great dancer like SSR and Ali? He was moving like Ali before Ali was even a twinkle in his old man's eye.

  • dempsey roll

  • Wow WTF ! Ali would have been too smart to do what Williard did but how can any human take that onslaught and continue.Frazier was bad but he wasn't that bad.

  • @openedup09 bad in what way? frazier was not a bad boxer

  • @Harryyoso Frazier was a badass to opponents. That was no dig at Frazier at all.He was a great fighter but Dempsey was as badass as you can get.

  • I wish all the losers would stop arguing about something that has nothing to do with this actual fight, These were the good old days and the bad old days in equal measure, the sport was extremely dangerous in those days the one issue with these old fights is that fighters were not required to go to the neutral corner so stand over a felled opponent, Ironically Dempsey was responsible for changing this and some people say it cost him one of the Tunney fights

  • Why does Jack Dempset always look black in these matches?

  • @SpyWhoLovedHimself

Very tan skin color i suppose

  • @SpyWhoLovedHimself Well, he was half Cherokee.

  • @DejaVu13Z no he wasn't.

  • @1saxonwolf

    Oops. He was half Commanche.

  • @DejaVu13Z No you had the Cherokee part right. He was just not half, more like an 1/8th. He said Cherokee on Mother's side & Choctaw in his Father's side in the distant past apparently. He said mostly Irish on both sides.

  • @1saxonwolf

There goes my reputation as an Indian expert.

I have seen claims, though, that he was more Indian than he claimed, which would make sense: Indians were still ranked with coyotes in the West.

  • Slaughter.

  • Willard looks just like the Klitscho brothers: big, slow and too scared to actually fight.

  • @ww1enfield

Tha klitschko brothers are probably far superior to willard based on achievement alone

  • @ww1enfield you just won the award for making the most idiotic comment on youtube. The Klitschkos are far better than Wilard you jerk. They are not slow or afraid to fight especially Vitali. Don't make comments about something you know absolutely nothing about. That's boxing.

  • @ww1enfield another black bigot. What a surprise. Can't accept the Klitschkos rule. Poor baby

  • @whitetornado52 ha-ha, that's cute. except I'm not even close to black and you're the one getting all butt-hurt about someone else's opinion you poor baby. Willard is exactly like the Klitschkos, they haven't beaten anyone of any real skill and Willard's claim to fame is beating an over the hill Jack Johnson, which took around 25 rounds.

  • @ww1enfield why bother commenting about boxing when you're totally clueless about it. There is no comparison between the Willard and the Klitschkos. The Klitschkos have beaten many decent fighters dumb ass. You are one wigger jackass.

  • @whitetornado52 What would a fanatical dumb fuck like you know? You're a 60 year old mental midget who does not realize that even an elite fly weight would KO the Klit brothers with one backhand bitch slap, HAHA! Now choke on that bitch!

  • @JimmySansar82 look who's following me around youtube. Go get laid you ugly fuck or go on medication.

  • @whitetornado52

I think I'll pay double for your Filipino bride order. Oh wait she's only a figment of your imagination. Ahahaha, nice dream girl you pussyless bitch.

  • My wife likes white guys only. So sorry.

  • @whitetornado52 I think you missed the part where I NEVER believed that you even have a wife so no matter how badly you want to prove her existance to a complete stranger on YouTube, I'm just not buying it so your desperate attempts at persuasion is moot just like your online crusade for the Klit brothers and White power. Ahahahaha!

  • @JimmySansar82 who gives a flying fuck what you believe

  • @whitetornado52

Well, you do smart guy because you also missed the part where you were hard up on trying to convince me of her existance. Nice one brainiac, ahahaha!

  • @whitetornado52 Not a wigger either, many of my favorite fighters are white, but i really don't care what color they are if they can box. Quit bringing race into a situation where it has zero affect on the discussion. But you keep screaming I don't know boxing while not illustrating you have a clue as to what you're talking about. And beating decent fighters isn't worth putting on your resume: look at who Ali, Frazier, and Louis had to fight. The K's whole career has been a BMC.

  • @ww1enfield I'm not going to mention all the decent fighters the Klitschkos fought to somebody that knows nothing about boxing. To compare the Klitschkos to Willard proves this. I would bet you haven't even seen too many of the Klitschhko fights to make a jackass comment like that. The Klitschkos have taken the best out there and never ducked one fighter. The Klitschkos with their size and skill would be good in any era.

  • @whitetornado52 I never said the K's ducked anyone, they have beaten the best in a division of crappy fighters, not a great achievement. I said they look similar when they fight. And I have watched the K's fight, every time I want to shoot myself out of boredom. They aren't even unexciting to watch like Tunney, at least with him it was actual boxing, not "I don't want to get hit, I'll hide behind my jab."

  • @ww1enfield the Klitschkos have been had some fights that were exciting when the opponent made it competitive and I know you wouldn't know it but boxing is all about hitting an opponent while trying to avoid being hit. Vitali and Wlad are not the same. Vitali will mix it up more and take more chances because has a stronger chin.

  • @whitetornado52 what ever dumbshit, thats why vitali lost to byrd and lewis well wladmir lost to brewster .blacks dominated boxing and moved on,just wait til overeem beats that aryan knucklehead lesnar then we will see whos the superior fighters in your case.ps eastern europeans hate white american fucks like you

  • @19Ninjared you are a clueless asshole. Vitali was beating Byrd easily and got a serious injury and couldn't continue. Wlad destroyed Byrd twice. Wlad was drugged in Brewster one and avenged the loss. You're an idiot. Another typical black American racist that can't take that 2 white men rule the division.

  • @whitetornado52

mate it seems to me you are a little off here yourself. let's drop the race shit for a' minute . Vitali was not beating byrd easily ,

byrd by far deserves that victory for hangin in there and doing well. wlad still has no excuse for fightin' brewster, the drug excuses are like the drug excuses in ali-foreman, pure shit... the klits are good, but u dont need to make excuses for their losses/bad performances...

  • @hdboxingfights Byrd lost almost every round. You probably didn't even see the fight. Byrd got very lucky when Vitali tore a rotator cuff. The drugging is not my excuse dumb ass. Wlad Vitali and Steward all said he drugged If you think they are making it up your as poor judge of Character as you are about boxing. You obviously don't know the facts.

  • @whitetornado52

mate give it up. you are clearly bias., He didnt lose every round. byrd's effective counterpunching elusiveness won him rounds. The drugging is BULLSHIT. there is no proof, just clueless excuses.the drugging is no fact seeing as there is no proof. the "rounds" is no fact either b/c won rounds are opinion. Great champions don't rely on "ratator cuff" problems, MUHAMMAD ALI and MIKE TYSON both fought on with injures, why couldn't Vitali do it, if he was havin' such an easy night?

  • @hdboxingfights What injuries did Ali and Tyson fight with?

  • @SCROGY

? i don't know what you're talking about. Ali fought with a broken hand for part of his career.

  • @hdboxingfights How do you fight with a broken hand for part of your career? If it's broken it should heal. If it doesn't heal and you can fight with it, then it isn't that bad. Jeff Fenech's hands were probably the worst of any boxers and they probably contributed to his career going south. I've done BJJ for ten years and I have a fucked up back (three degenerating vertebrate), fucked up neck (displaced vertebrate) and a knee that doesn't bend past 90 degrees.

  • @whitetornado52

  • @whitetornado52 BMC is the Bum of the Month Club, so you know. Probably never heard of that term.

  • @ww1enfield Joe Louis. Bum of the month club. Louis did pad his record with some pretty awful fighters. Still love Joe, but his record is severely padded.

  • 2 things to point out:

1: Dempsey had REALLY skinny legs

2: Every guy in the audience is wearing a white hat with a black stripe..

  • @bluflarp Maybe he looked skinny compared to Willard.

  • dempsey looks a lot lighter than a heavyweight in this fight

  • @middleastboxer21 Low 180's is what he said he weighed for this fight.

  • willard was a clown not a fighter....spanked by a man roughly half his size...fuck that bozo

  • @djk28161

smh... respect the dead man,, furthermore willard was not a clown, dempsey was too good for him. size does not always define a fight.

  • Wow I agree with others comments on this video being the best quality I've ever seen of this fight and the fact the fight was so old and so many years ago and to be able to see it on this quality is truly amazing how clear it looks. It would be nice to see more fights like this of that era brought back to life with today's video standards in the highest definition resolution possible to really appreciate these legendary boxing matches that made history to this sport.

  • it's obscured by the ring rope but whats that on the canvas at 2:19

  • That was something to behold. Remember, this was a different "ERA" in sports and that said, our modern "sensabilities: didnt apply. No doubt, Jack was "game" but to the other fighters credit, he got up again and again. I wonder how , all things equal, Jack would have faired against the likes of Ali or tyson? I hope, that when I pass away and Jesus greats me as a friend, that they have "Friday night" fights !!!! Could you imagine !!!!! Ali versus Jack demsey!!!! rfol!!!!!!!!!!

  • Most definitely! I do have to say that he would of knocked out Jack Johnson, without any question. He was what Mike Tyson was of that era. I would've love to be there back in time to see his savageness in the ring. Outside the ring, a true gentleman.(pure class.)

  • Nice job...

  • I don't understand some comments here about being white. Both fighters were white. Viewing these old fights it's amazing the ref didn't stop it; anyone could see Willard wasn't defending himself anymore so why let it continue so long? As for Ali-Dempsey I get tired of people thinking only Ali knew how to move; ALL champions know how to move; that's how they became champions.

  • @Richard40171

Dempsey, was more Native American Indian than white, That is why he was darker than the rest of his competitors.

  • @MrEdlgar All I know is that he was a great American champion

  • @MrEdlgar dempsey from both his parents had cherokee heritage to be perfectly precise

  • @WhiskerScot569

That explains the courage of this brave heavy weight, and one of the best fighters that ever lived. He was also one respected gentleman.

  • @WhiskerScot569 That is incorrect. Dempsey's Grandmother on his mother's side, the Smoot's was 1/2 Cherokee. The Dempsey lineage say their was Choctaw blood in the past. Dempsey was Irish on both sides(parents), Scots on Mother's side, plus mentioned Cherokee. Dempsey was mostly Irish, an 1/8th or less Cherokee.

  • @1saxonwolf hmmm you seem to have researched this thoroughly so i'll believe you thank you for correcting me as i never like to be wrong

  • @WhiskerScot569 also i don't suppose you could tell me what that is on the canvas at 2:19 it's a bit obscured by the ring rope

  • @WhiskerScot569 If your referring to the black mark hidden at times by the bottom ring rope it's nothing but a stain. It's visible earlier than 2:19, as soon as the camera catches the lower rope you can see it partially covered. The fighters & ref step on it, over it. If it was an object it would have been removed, kicked out of the way at least. Regarding Dempsey's heritage, he explains it briefly in one of his autobiographies. Your welcome.

  • @1saxonwolf thanks for the info i've never had the opportunity to read one of his autobiographies and thanks for clearing up what the stain on the floor was as one of my mates told me it was a railway spike which dempsey had used as a knuckleduster because of the amount of damage willard sustained during the fight but i didn't believe him because you can see willard checking dempsey's wraps at the beginning and since dempsey was holding and pushing it would have been hard to hide

  • @WhiskerScot569 Thats an old story that has circulated for generations. Along with plaster of paris story, etc. Back in those days they could wrap their hands with insulation tape that apparently made their hands hard as rocks. Plus 4-5 oz gloves filled with horsehair that shifted easily to the side left no cushion for absorption. Brutal. Add to the equation Dempsey, you have the most brutal beat down in HW history. Jimmy DeForest wrapped JD hands, not Kearns. He said it's all nonsense.

  • @MrEdlgar Untrue. See my post.

  • @Richard40171 The reason they say that is because when you compare a fighters movements to Ali's movements, Ali is the only one that knows how to move lol

  • Wow! That's amazing quality! Where do you find this?

  • Wow,

You'd never see a fight like this today. The ref would have stopped it after the second knock-down. I bet this ref was told to "give the white guy every possible chance, even if it kills him" by the powers-that-be.

  • @cableaddict Jack Dempsey was pretty white...

  • @cableaddict Fights for a championship have never been stopped after 2 knockdowns. Dempsey was white. Dempsey is fast, in terrific condition and it doesn't look like Willard has any defense whatsoever. That is what is going on in the ring here.

  • I have always felt that it was a shame that Willard didn't have a trainer that could have taught him to fight in a manner similar to Larry Holmes. That monster reach should have been put to better use.

  • AMAZING how clear it is.

    THANK YOU, hd.

  • awesome !! Is there more to see? I don't give a rat's ass about the watermark. Load up as much as possible, please !

  • @owenswift

No Problem mate. It's definitely the best Quality I've ever seen in my entire life.

  • This is the best copy I've ever seen of this fight. Thanks a lot.

  • @T15Productions

Sure thing... as you can see theres a big watermark in the middle so its pointless to download for a highlightreel or something

but yea this is definitely more detailed then any other copy of the fight
