  • Wow,some people are just idiots. I've been a volunteer fire firefighter for 10 years and a for a 5 min response time is great for a vol FD. I'm one of 10 firefighters at my station. So it takes a good 7 mins to get a truck out for anything, People need to understand not all fire houses are paid

  • You people don't understand that it takes at lest 7 mins till we arrive on seen

  • @3Mudbone1 u ass I'm a volunteer and we do that shit for free I fucking love it keep it tax dollars fucker and go buy some more crack

  • Some people don't realize that yea, you called 911 like 15 min ago, but it takes a lot longer for dispach to get the call and page the firefighters. It'll only take the department a few min to get on scene. It takes even longer if you call on a cell phone too. You're better off calling local pd directly.

  • your an idiot. the FD response time is anywhere frm 3-6 mins. fuck your house. # 1 concern for firefighters is life safety. I wouldnt give two shits about the house you set on fire because you cant store gasoline properly or you fell asleep smoking. A typical firefighter work schedule is 10 days a month 24 hour shifts. How would you like to go to a fully involved structure fire just before you sat down to eat and now your working for 15 hrs without a bite of food or a break. ignorant

  • Amazing that nobody even attempted to hook a few garden hoses together and tone down the flames as best as they could before the F.D. showed up. Any water at all might have helped. But Noooo! They all just watched and videoed. Great neighbors.

    LOL!

  • @Ghstwn lol the water from the garden hose would probably turn to steam before it would touch any wood!

  • LOOK AT IT BURN! XD

  • if someone died.... send me pictures

  • Where in the hell is the Fire Department

  • i hope no one was hurt i feel sorry for the owner

  • New coat of paint and a few shingles...she'll be good as new.

  • what people dont realize is that the average response for an engine company in a city is 4 1/2 minutes this video is 3:10 you gotta remember traffic conditions and respose area size not every city is like LA or NY where there is a Fire station every ten blocks some of these departments are serving their community under staffed and out of NFPA compliance because well they cant or wont pay for a larger department. NFPA regs. say you should be able to reach the outer edges of you area within 4:30.

  • This is almost what happened to me... Around 6.03 AM 10.04.2011...

I was at the brink of death... Luckily, everyone was safe, even me. :D

  • I Think He Is Need Call To "Extrime Makeover"

  • did the police car just drive past it?

  • While everyone is blaming the FireDepartment, did anyone think to call 911 or just assume someone else called? maybe thats why it took so long?

  • So, how long did it take these idiots to call us, Ima firefighter

  • i feel sorry for the old man. it was his house. at least they completely rebuilt it if wresqu's story is true

  • Something to keep in mind: not every volunteer department responds from home. In my area the departments are staffed in-house by volunteers. Other volunteers will "home respond" to staff reserve apparatus if needed, but the first due engine and truck has staffing.

We have a combination system. Career guys staff 0600-1800 daily and the volunteers staff 1800-0600 daily. We attend the same recruit training as the career staff, only we're in class at night (and it takes longer to graduate).

  • I suppose if the nearest Engine Company to the fire happens to be working on one of your loved ones, oh lets say doing CPR or the like they should drop everything and just go where they think it's best? Get real. For all these ying -yangs know that nearest engine may have been elsewhere in their district besides in quarters.

Perhaps this is not a career department in which case the response time was absolutely great.. then theres the one where everyone assumes someone already called. Want more?

  • nice fire...it was good and angry

  • "Where the hells the fire department?" FUCK THAT were volunteers, and we DO NOT get paid to put our lives in jeapordy to save people who we do not even know, trust us, we're always coming and we're here to help, give us time to get to the station and get to the call, and if you want to put down the fire department, man up a join and make a diference, like fire fighters do EVERY DAY casue as a fire fighter i know that all of us will give some.... and some of us will give all.

  • @thaaxe Maybe the volunteers in your department wouldn't put themselves in harm's way to save people you "do not even know", but you are likely the ONLY department with that attitude. You're telling people to "man up" and "make a difference", but it sounds like you just want to SAY you're a firefigher - rather than BE one.

Don't misunderstand risk analysis which says we "risk a lot to save a lot, risk little to save little," to mean we "don't save strangers."

  • WHERE THE FUCK IS THE FIRE DEPARTMENT?!?

  • Wow that house burned quick. What was it made from lol

  • okay you guys are saying its taking forever for the fire dept. to get there i just want to say we try to get there as fast as possible we really do....more and more people tho keep getting in our way and not moving and this happens...it delays us then making things worse for everyone

  • The fire station was probably a mile away, the fire department was called before the video starts and when you are watching a house that you have lived in for 30+ years burning down time goes slow. Years before this happened my Grandpa lost my Grandma due to Cancer and all of his pictures, and keepsakes of her were in this house. Thanks to the Fire Department almost everything was saved. The house was rebuilt and we will be having Thanksgiving at his house again this year.

  • This is my Grandpa's house. He was over 85 years old when this happened and a very sharp guy. He was the original owner of that truck and from my memory only had about 60,000 miles on it. He just pulled out and smelled gas so he pulled it back in the garage to check it out. He opened the hood the flames shot up. He tried to get in the truck and put it in reverse or neutral to at least get the truck out of the garage. He got slightly burned in the process because flames shot through the dash.

  • You shut it off right before it started to get good :((

  • Now they're coming? Finally? Sounds like somebody has little to no idea how emergency services work, you ingrate.

  • @IllustriousSeven thank you they dont relise that people wont get out of the way and that we try to get there asap but no they just blame the fire dept. not the dumb ass drivers in this world

  • So im supposed to believe that THE WTC 7 built from "STEEL," burned like this HOUSE!!! hell this house was better built than WTC 7.

  • @rzorNvme Hey Einstein, what was WTC7 FILLED with? Combustible contents, that's what. Desks, tables, files, plastics, carpets, etc. THAT'S what burned not the steel. The burning contents weakened the steel causing it to fail. That and the structural damage done by debris from the collapse of WTC 1&2.

  • Don't forget, folks- this video is only a bit over 3 min long. There's no way of telling how long it took to respond. Many things come into play: how long before 911 was called? Were first due units out on another call, or training? How close is the fire hall to this address? Does this city have E911, and does it work with cell phones? If not, was there some confusion as to the real location? etc. Seconds can feel like hours when you have an emergency.

  • Nice camera work

  • i say they thought it was nothing and didnt call 911 at all cause thats burning way to rapid to just be starting

  • doubler11966 Yakima Washington does have a full time Fire department it takes time to respond. I use to live in Yakima so don't tell I don't what I'm talking about.

  • Vote to make your town a full time fire dept in place of your ( call / vol. fire dept. that you currently have in place. That would fix your problem

  • Response to the fire depts. slow response comments. This fire dept. consist of on call / volunteer firefighters. With this type of set up most building fires end up burning to the ground. This is due to the time it takes to send out an alarm of fire then the time it takes firefighters to report to the fire house , get dressed and then finally respond to the fire. Solution to the problem (FULL TIME FIRE DEPT).

  • @doubler11966 Simply NOT true! Volunteer depts save structures all the time. Also, full time depts cost big money- something many towns just don't have. Under your idea, most places would have a crew of 1 or 2 firefighters. The time "saved" on initial response would be wiped out waiting for the mutual aid to arrive, so they could do something. A better idea would be a duty crew arrangement for vollies- the station would then be staffed with a ready to go crew.

  • @pyroman6000 I work for a paid municipal department, 24 years now. And I volunteer for a rurlal department, 8 years now. The only structures we have ever saved are the ones on either side of the burning house. My paid duties put me in front of a burning house within 4-5 minutes of dispatch. And then we do save burning structures.

  • @PopppaBlue59 well I guess it depends on which of the many different and geographically placed Paid Stations there are around the Country. I know of many Communities that have Career Stations and their response times are well above the 4 min. mark for Nfpa, say like 8-10 mins. So having a Paid Station does not solve all of the problems.I agree, if your Community can't afford a full Paid, go with a Combination..

  • @Lps2005 all i can say is i hope you never need the fire dept. cause thoose bitch ass pussies will save your ass then wut will u have to say

  • dont trash the fire department you have no clue

  • wow people trashing the fire department. thats not cool at all. firefighters come when ur having the worst day of ur lives and dont ask for anything in return. so if your trashing the fire department you should really remember 9/11 and the over 100 firefighters that lose their lives every year.

  • We were parting and we set the roof on fire!!!!

  • @Lps2005 despite how unbelievibly rude your coment is I will try to answer it nicely, the fire department that responded may have been volunteer, in that case the FF's need to stop what they are doing, drive to the firehouse, get ready, drive to the fire. That actually can take a while. Even if it is not volunteer the FF's still need to get ready and then drive to the fire which can be delayed by any number of problem such as TRAFFIC. Just be glad they're there at all.

  • mann tht doubbles the rate fire increases usually it grows twice its sixe every minute

  • man didnt anyone call the fire department?

  • It DID seem like forever for the Fier Dept. to get there, but I understand that sometimes it takes a few minutes to respond. I live in a fairly large city and sometimes it takes a while for the FD to get to a fire...mostly because people are assholes who don't pull over when they see a fire truck/first responder coming through. I have a lot of respect for Firefighters and EMTs and Police.

I am so sorry that this house was a loss...what a pretty house it was. My sympathies.

    ~LauraG.~

  • wow

  • I hate Cigarrettes Wood and Fuel an CARS AND BUSES AND LAPTOPS!

  • this is why I dont like attatched garages...Im happy the guy was ok !

  • @pmanson0624 I was just thinking the same thing..."this is why I am GLAD we have to park on the street. :(

Sad...I am so sorry for the owner's loss. :(

    ~LauraG.~

  • I always liked sprinklers but thought they were too expensive to put in.

Wonder how much he would have paid for a sprinkler system right then?

Guess I don't think about it much until I see something like this.

Ouch. Sorry about your house Mr.!

  • oh man i remember that. that was crazy.

  • in your town do they have a volunteer fire department or a full time fire department

  • I didn't see the footage until now. It is very representative of garage fires and is helpful for getting that hazard message across. Thanks for that. Do have any follow-on footage of FD arrival and extinguishment?

  • If you live in a town of mostly volunteer fire departments you need to stop complaining about how long it takes for us to get there. Research what needs to happen for a fire department to be dispatched and then maybe you won't complain anymore.

  • i hope he had insurance ,

  • The wind certainly didn't help any. Glad no one was hurt!

  • I love how the most viewed video of Yakima is a House Fire. lol

    Thumbs up for that!

  • haha my house is right there(:

  • @brandonjc16 Where do you live Brandon?

  • @wresqu hey why you blamming the fire dept they put there lives on the line everyday so don't be an ass.

  • i am a rookie in church point la vfd and the first house fire i experienced we were there in 4 mins and the house was a total loss it take seconds for a house to get ba bad find the video about the new jersey night club that burned it was 6 mins and 100 something people died so don't ever cut the fire depts down

  • the owner is lucky to have gotten out in time. it likes the fire was moving faster than the average fire does for a garage started. any idea wat causes the fire?

  • @011NAVY The fire was caused by a leaking fuel line from the owners truck. He pulled the vehicle in the garage, smelled fuel, opened the trunk and the fire took off, almost like a backdraft.

  • @wresqu That isn't what a backdraft is.

  • @wresqu Wow...didn't know you could open the trunk on a truck?

  • @011NAVY The fire started by a leaking fuel line on the truck. He smelled fuel as he drove away, returned to the house and pulled the truck into the garage, opened the hood and BOOM!

  • @wresqu At least he got out ok. 011NAVY is right, he's lucky

  • The wind was definitely not helping any.

  • A total loss. That totally sucks. I feel sorry for the owner =(

  • the smoke looked like claws!

  • yakima from icarly!

    but serious now yikes!

  • Just under 4 miles from Station 40 at 2003 Beaudry Rd.

Lots of turns, curves and narrow roads between there and Terrace Hill Dr.

The responce time was more than acceptable.

Maybe if station 42 (which is a little less than a mile away from this location) was manned in the same manner as station 40 they would have been there quicker.

  • F T C

  • nice cooker, nice wind too

  • where in yakima is this what took the fire department so long to get there usaly they're faster than that...

  • This was in Terrace Heights, off of Hancock and Terrace Hill Drive. The house has been completely rebuilt!

  • Off of Hillcrest and Terrace Hill

  • the fire trucks dont have jet engines on them just lights and sirens

  • great video...glad owner ok!

  • poor guy

  • u guys the fire department isnt slow so shut up

  • Darn how long did it take the person 2 call 911 god the cop was there or was the fd 3 miles 5 miles god! but that is what we do sometimes!!

  • Poor guy, hope he had fire insurance......

  • i love it where the hell is the fire department... yeah we bust our ass but you gotta remember fire doubles in size every minute and think of all the accelerants that was in the garage

  • stop blaming the fire dept. we put our lives on the line for people we dont even know, every day 24/7 365 a year. in an emergency 5 minutes feels like 30. in reality the response time wasnt long at all. you should thenk them not put them down.

  • @joeyp1974 he wasn't blaming them. that response time for our fire dept. was actually slow in comparison to others. the odd thing is that there is a fire sub station not even a mile from where that house was.

  • @joeyp1974

Totally agree with you. That was a fast turn out time.

  • @joeyp1974 You mean we shouldnt put down the FD even when they purposely let a mans house burn but only spring in to action when the fire starts to spread to the neighbor. That was directed at a diff story but the FD in general, sure they put their lives on the line but their actions arent always so righteous (sp ?).

  • @YourFreeToys GOD DAMMIT PEOPLE!! Get it straight, a fire department WILL NOT SAVE YOUR HOUSE. It will save PEOPLE. Merchandise sofas, cars, and everything buy for your house is replaceable. PEOPLE ARE NOT.

  • @Buddyb309 The story I was talking about is where the FD was letting a mans house purposely burn all because he didnt pay some BS $20 fee or whatever it was but only sprang in to action when the neighbors house who paid this crazy ass fee started to catch.

  • @YourFreeToys Fire fighters have priorities, when the fire spreads it becomes much more serious and the attack is hurried, why put a fire fighters life in danger if all of the occupants are out, and the house is already a total loss?, we're mainly here to save a life, the fire comes second

  • @thaaxe - Protecting exposures would be the priority. Then coordinating an attack...that's my opinion.

  • @TTUPirate Yes, my comment states that :when the fire spreads the attack hurries" which would mean protecting exposures, they hurry the attack so the fire does not spread to what its exposed to. which is usually another house, which goes back to the saving lives, get me?

  • @thaaxe Well, not really. You would coordinate an attack with protection of the exposures. Both being separate companies. It sounds like you are implying that the attacking crew would make a fast attack on the burning structure to hopefully get a stop on it before the exposures were affected. Problem is, the radiant heat has already affected the adjacent structure. Get me?

  • @joeyp1974 yeah and so many firefighters lose their lives by trying to save someone

  • @joeyp1974 That's HILARIOUS! You lazy fucks work what? Three days per month?

  • @3Mudbone1 get out there and do it then.

  • @granvilledrummer I have a MUCH better career than that!

  • @3Mudbone1 - Well you have obviously never needed Fire/EMS services. You would be a little bit more grateful if you had any idea what we do and risk to keep people like you safe.

  • @bostonwhiteboy You have nothing to do whatsoever in keeping me safe you moron. Ha ha ha ha ha ha! You are HILARIOUS! You buffoons get paid don't you? What does the fact that I have a much better career have to do with you THINKING that someone is required to be grateful for someone doing what they are paid to do? MAN you have very, very twisted thinking!

  • @3Mudbone1 Actually we don't. 70% of Americas Fire Departments are VOLUNTEER. Thanks.

  • @bostonwhiteboy You REALLY need to be grateful of the taxpayers who shell out an exorbitant amount of hard earned tax dollars for the three days you work per month!

  • the fire dept was not slow i am a firefighter the house had a truck in the garage so its going to burn alot hotter and faster so if u dont know what ur talking about shut up stop trying to make us firefighters look stupid we do are job and we do a great one at it!!!

  • glad he was ok...houses can be rebuilt...humans can't!

  • the cop was probably stting there thinking "they just might need the fir department"

  • were in the hell the fire company man there slow been 5 or 6 minutes enuff for the place to burn down

  • Tell Less our station salutes his courage and we wish him many more years of a fire free life there.

  • i live in everett

  • is you fire dept a paid crew or volunteers

  • It's a paid crew since this look near the Westside of town, I'm judging by the how the house looks.

Sorry for this guy's loss. I wouldn't mind watching my house burned down, as long as we have insurance. In fact, I'll ask right now...

  • I feel really bad for the old guy. It sucks when people make fun of somebody else's loss. You know who you are. I hope everything turns out well for him.

  • Les has moved back in, and the house looks great, after a complete rebuild!

  • That's fantastic! Tell Les I wish him the best. No one should ever have deal with a disaster like this. I'm glad he wasn't hurt.

  • thats good to hear!

    How bad was the inside?

totaled or just a room or just the garage?

  • dude plaese reply where the hell is the fire truck

  • I can't believe that it took 5 minutes to get there....my battery on my camera died...SORRY for no action with FD buddy

  • Actually 5 minutes is a good response time. Between the call coming in and FFs getting dressed usually takes about one minute, so a four minute travel time is acceptable. Smoke detectors can help citizens be alerted to a fire so it doen't get out of control prior to calling 911. Obviously I'm not sure why the fire got so big prior to calling, or even if it did.

  • Maybe if the guy who is complianing grabbed a phone instead of his camera, the FD would have been there faster! I love it when we get criticized by those who have no idea what they are talking about.

  • That's what you get with vollies buddy! Maybe youguys should opt for a professional fire department! A few more tax dollars goes a long way. A five-10 minute response time is not uncommon in a volunteer district. Don't kid yourself, a paid crew of 3 FF's to protect all of EV doesn't cut it.

  • burn that shit to the ground nigga hahahaha

    this was a kool vid

  • all the vidow did was show a house burning it was a little sad for howevers house it really was i hope no one died in the house when it was on fire

  • That was the point of the video, what did you want it to show? It was a House Fire In Yakima, WA.....no one died, Les got out of the garage as soon as it caught fire.

  • where was the fire at? because i use to live there :( now in mexico :[ i think i would know someone who would know a guy who would know him lol

  • a house in yakima, washington.

  • maybe they were on a another call or its volunteer dont judge the fire dept. I am sure they did the best job they could do and got their as quick as they possibly could have. I feel bad for the owner but dont judge the fire dept.

  • station 42 has 15 or so "paid-on call" personnel in which most of them dont get off work til 4 or 5 pm the full time staff has 3 personnel that actually fight fire having been in that truck 5 minutes from station 40 to the hillcrest area is a rather quick response lights and sirens doesnt mean break all the laws you still have to slow down at intersections and the truck only goes 66 mph ive seen the city of yakima take longer than 5 minutes to get to a fire in thier own jurisdiction

  • and how far away is station 40? drive time? and yes east valley, selah, union gap, lower valley, and others are all combination dept.s BUT they rely mostly on "volunteer" due to only haveing one engine company of full-time personnel. the volunteers get compensation for their time and service but not anywhere close to what the full time staff gets

  • Actually East Valley is a combination department which means they have 4 full time staff Monday - Friday 7am to 4pm, with part-time paid personnel NOT Volunteers! 911 was called at 15:24 and dispatched E-40 at 15:26 then enroute at 15:27 with a 3 man crew. The rest is travel time to the scene. This is the level of service our tax-payers want. Personally I would pay more taxes for 24 hour full time coverage. The station just down the road is not manned!

  • in all regards to this video yes 5 minutes is a long time but judging by yso being there it was probably in the county, and every county agency is volunteer, i was a volunteer for east valley for 2 years and 5 minutes from home to the station to the scene is pretty fuckin fast, the city of yakima has a 5 minute response time to the outer edges of their protection area..... but for christ sake give them a fuckin break i didnt see anyone else tryin to do anything atleast the volunteers will try to

  • Actually his truck caught fire and then he called the fire department...the question is...why did it take them so long? I know where the fire department is and it's about 1/4 of a mile away if that.

  • I agree. Even though I've never been to Yakima Washington, I still think the responsive time of the fire department is terrible. Looks to me if they had gotten there faster they could've maybe got it out and saved alot of the house.

  • There was about another 1 1/2 minutes from when I saw the fire, and grabbed my camera....so the response time was close to 5 minutes...RIDICULOUS! Another person had just called 911 when I saw the fire.

  • Unfortunately my camera's battery died, otherwise I would have had video of the fire department...they did knock it down relatively quickly.

  • @wresqu You know, 5 minutes for a volunteer department or any department for that matter is a GREAT response time. It probably would have been a longer response time in the city of Yakima with a full-time fire department!

  • Hope Les had insurance...

  • Les, ya wanna call anybody? like maybe the fire dept.

  • the fire department was already called my husband was asking if he wanted to call his daughter
