  • Can you clarify how this exercise develops skills? As an instructor I've never "gotten" why it's so beloved. I suppose you can see the outside ski pivot... but you could see that in a normal turn and lifting the inside ski doesn't improve movements as far as I can tell. Are you just trying to pivot the femur in the hip socket without rotating the hip?

I don't think the skier's in the backseat. He doesn't want his javelin tip to dive into all that soft snow! Skiing is dynamic--your mass moves.

  • Back seat for sure! Look at how the tip of the ski is pointed up and not toward the snow! Needs more functional tension in the leg on the snow.

  • @kqhedberg First of all ! if you think that the skier is backseat you look at the wrong place! You have to look the ski on the snow not the ski in the air. As a good skier like you, you should be able to know that. Is the ski tip cut the snow or not? Is the tail of the ski skid? Is the skier win speed by being back?

Use the exercise, do it better if you can and improve your ski, that's all about those videos are for. After you can answer me with a video and show me your functional tension! :)

  • Hmmm, let's talk . . . some of these look like the rider is in the back seat . . . what about the leg to leg fulcrum mechanism? Is this skier using his legs to move his CM down the hill or is he using an upper body center of mass movement?
