It's not a global conspiracy to keep people from thinking, even most pot heads I know couldn't tell you WHY exactly pot should be legalized or why it's illegal, but rather any prohibition law that is made is almost always about money and putting more people through the criminal justice system.

For the true freedom for all people of this nation, indeed all the world, it is past time to LEGALIZE MARIJUANA. How ever did this herb get classified as a "class-1 narcotic"??? This herb is MUCH safer to smoke than tobacco. Legalization of marijuana will get out of the dirty hands of the real criminals. Taxes (dirty word, yes) applied on marijuana could erase the national debt, put all the states on firm financial footing. ,,, FREE MARIJUANA ,, MAKE MARIJUANA LEGAL.!!!
If marijuana is the "largest cash crop in America" where is it being grown? Don't you have to harvest a crop and deliver the crop to be processed to determine if it is indeed a cashable crop? Narcs are constantly busting any crop fields that might appear not to mention meth labs. This comment doesn't make any sense.
So, what in the hell happened in California on Nov. 2nd? I do not understand it. My son and I were talking and he thinks it's because of all the older people and their fear. I said honey the baby boomer generation invented pot in this modern age. Now, my husband and I (35 yrs) have never gotten high together but we both see how this prohibition law is wrong. Think of all the revenue CA could have raked in. Are the voting results in CA rigged? Who benefits if pot is illegal?
The two businesses that benefit the most in California would be the "Medical Marijuana" community and the prison system. "Med pot" dispensaries would obviously see a huge drop in their sales as people went "homegrown", plus most of the customers are obviously bullshitting their symptoms. A lot of med pot "patients" I've talked to only choose "med" over "street" because the latter is legal.
And if all the pot prisoners in California were freed, God forbid that we'd have to fight REAL crime...

@bewerf Budweiser and probably Halliburton, although I don't know how, but if it involves human suffering and profits to be made from it, they always seem to be raking it in. Pot Prohibition is insane - that 'gateway drug' BS - I've done pretty much all of the drugs out there and my gateway was ALWAYS ALCOHOL FUELED!!!!
@spinemelter2000 Marijuana as a gateway drug is an absolute myth, one that I used to buy into while I was still in high school. One of the largest battles legalization will have to fight are ad/smear campaigns against marijuana that are paid for by alcoholic beverage companies for fear that if people start smoking much herb, their appetite for booze will decrease.
Causation does not equal correlation. If someone wants to try coke, chances are they weren't satisfied with weed. So on and so forth.
ljohn787, the hypothetical situation you just described still includes the fact that the person used marijuana before they moved on to cocaine. You didn't answer my question about whether you know anyone who used a hard drug first and later or never smoked marijuana.
@spinemelter2000 yes, you're right, but what i'm trying to state here is that (as many people have commented already before me) there's a fairly linear progression, or a ladder of drug use that branches out as you get into harder drug territory. the first substance of choice is alcohol, since it's easy to raid a liquor cabinet and fairly simple to obtain (and that's even if you're not of legal age). i personally don't know many people that do hard drugs, but i'd agree with your statement.
@spinemelter2000 however, i don't believe marijuana is a gateway drug since that term implies that once you try marijuana, you're more likely to try other drugs. i think an individual is already predisposed to using other drugs, marijuana is just the most convenient to try first. i know lots of pot smokers, therefore they should all be hard drug users as well. in fact, i should be crackling some rocks in a pipe, but i think mj is plenty good for me. i wonder what the perception is outside the US
I understand your point of view. My speculation on marijuana as a gateway drug could be wrong because I've never used it or any other illegal drugs, and I didn't have alcohol until I was 21. People who break the law have crossed a certain line, even if the crime is something as trivial as smoking marijuana. I personally have reverence for laws. I've used plenty of OTC and Rx drugs, which I'm not proud to admit, but I draw the line based on legality of the drugs I use.
If it's a gateway drug in the sense I described, I think legalizing marijuana would reduce that stigma, and people wouldn't have to worry about whether they're doing something illegal. I agree that marijuana should either be legalized or that the laws prohibiting it need to be more liberal.
@spinemelter2000 Yes it would also save the economy. But the powers that be don't want that. They want this economy to fail and people to despair so they can present more of their lethal solutions. Like taking away our social security, pensions, and other exploitations of the taxpayer. :(
@bewerf There is a SHITLOAD of dealers in California, and obviously they don't want it regulated...but there is still hope! There is supposed to be a Prop 19-esque proposition for Colorado in 2012.
California residents, you have the chance to be the first group of people in the world to legalize marijuana for responsible adult use. When you go to vote on prop 19, take a friend with you. Drag one other person with you. If everyone does this we get double the votes!
Then, find someone who is against pot legalization and convince them to stay home that day. Copy and paste this all over youtube, lets make this happen, get the word out!
The only ones who are to blame are ourselves. When they introduced a prohibition back in the days we should have killed those fuckers immediately. If someone was going to ban coffee tomorow he would be dead in 5 minutes, and rightfully so. Fuck people who think they know what is best for other people, fuck them, I do what I want and you do what you want, just don't think you are superior because you wear a special suit and have a nice desk.
I agree with him on marijuana legalization, but suggesting that Mr. Phelps move to Austrailia and join their Olympic team? Ventura would turn his back on his country
and support another in competition over something so petty. Typical "truther" min-set
Everyone just start putting seeds wherever you can. We've been playing this "Legalization Court game" too nicely for too many years. Something's got to be done. Lives are being ruined every hour of the day to stupid pot laws. By the way, anyone for legalization, please send me a friend's request.
i don't smoke, however I do take into account the historical value of marijuana. look up the history of marijuana just preceding our secession from great britain. a part of what made the secession possible was our ability to rely on locally made clothing from hemp products. prior to this we were dependent on britain - we were legally required to harvest hemp, send it to britain to be made into clothing, then have it sent back to us with a tax put on it.
@judasplow25 How come only Jessie has balls big enough to speak out? are all the other government officials just cowards? Or is it the HUSH money all the lobbyist are accepting by special interest groups are pushing on them? Either way we all need to do our part because too many people think Jesse's a quack. We need to show them that more people agree . . . not just jessie. VOTE YES on pot in CALI this november
Why wouldn't they? because the bets are on the crash of our economy. Jesse is so bad ass as a political figure in America. provably the most bad ass. he'll fuck up anybody. anybody. even larouche.
He's not saying this but I'm sick of others who say, "Legalize pot and tax the hell out of it." I'm sick of the tax it crowd. We should grow it in our yards and the hell with paying taxes on it. It will not be legalized in our life time because we are under a dictatorship.
The war on drugs is a hoax, the war on terror is a hoax, and the war on climate change is a hoax. Everything is a lie. We live in the matrix. Wake up!
I definetlely agree with ya, people believe everything they are told these days. We live in a society of lazy sheep, they wanna be told whats right and let the government take over every aspect of their lives and choices.....sick of it.

Govenor Ventura said it correctly, "America is supposed to be a free country".Why do Americans stand for such nonsense as prohibition?Too much greed, too much need, and too much materialism. I will not obey the law when it comes to what I put in my own body.
Tellen it like it is the man jessa ventura.Weed is like the guy in jail for muder yet he's innocent, the plant maybe the most useful plant on the planet so things need to change.
HAHAHHHHA COME TO AUSTRALIA PHELPS!!!! SWIM FOR US AND SHOW THOSE FUCKERS WHO'S THE BOSS OF YOUR LIFE!!!! Not to mention that you can smoke as many cones as you want over here lol.
For those calling for Ventura 2012. You must be crazy we need someone who can actually win the election. Ventura has no shot. Ron Paul 2012. Lets hope
That's what they said when he ran for Govener of Minn too but look how that turned out. Ventura would be the best president we have had in my lifetime.
Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington had a little bit of "Captain Freedom's Workout" and thus we now have Jesse Ventura to take back America in 2012!
I met Ron Paul last week at CPAC in Washington, DC and asked him if he would consider running with Ventura in 2012, but he said he's not considering it yet ("we're a long way off from that"). It would be an awesome combination to have those 2 dishing out the truth!
Preferably Ron Paul, but if he doesn't want to run or thinks his age will affect his electability then I'd be happy to vote for his son on the ticket. Jesse Ventura is the man. He always stands up for freedom.
This is a "sticky" subject for me. Re-Legalize cannabis? Hemp that doesnt produce THC, no problem. But the government controlling the stuff i smoke, i dont trust them. Maybe if they let us grow our own and just tax what we grow. But this criminal government can never be trusted. Not while Monsanto is around. They will alter the genetic code. Shit, i cant even eat corn anymore. I just dont trust them to do the right thing. What do you think?
I don't think you'll find anyone who would argue against you on that matter, but perhaps you'd agree that any movement forward is better than nothing at all? I mean, we need to get our foot in the door and it looks like we may have done just that. I don't think that means we'll stop there though. We'll still be active. MPP, NORML, HIA, all those guys...I imagine them working as closely as possible with manufacturers of commercially sold cannabis. At least, I'm hoping that's what happens.
I guess I dont know, if the punishment for growing your own would be worse after it is legalized..
Otherwise my whole rebuttal is: It is illegal for you to grow your own NOW, but people still do it.. Therefore, what would stop you from growing once/if it becomes legalized but illegal to grow?
I always have said make it legal. I myself dont smoke marijuana. However I know Its safer then booze, safer then tobacco. It can make paper products aswell. i don't smoke, however I do take into account the historical value of marijuana. look up the history of marijuana just preceding our secession from great britain. a part of what made the secession possible was our ability to rely on locally made clothing from hemp products. prior to this we were dependent on britain - we were legally required to harvest hemp, send it to britain to be made into clothing, then have it sent back to us with a tax put on it.

Why wouldn't they? because the bets are on the crash of our economy. Jesse is so bad ass as a political figure in America. provably the most bad ass. he'll fuck up anybody. anybody. even larouche.
jorgemexicali 2 years ago
He's not saying this but I'm sick of others who say, "Legalize pot and tax the hell out of it." I'm sick of the tax it crowd. We should grow it in our yards and the hell with paying taxes on it. It will not be legalized in our life time because we are under a dictatorship.

Govenor Ventura said it correctly, "America is supposed to be a free country".Why do Americans stand for such nonsense as prohibition?Too much greed, too much need, and too much materialism. I will not obey the law when it comes to what I put in my own body.

Womanizer2985 3 years ago 3
I met Ron Paul last week at CPAC in Washington, DC and asked him if he would consider running with Ventura in 2012, but he said he's not considering it yet ("we're a long way off from that"). It would be an awesome combination to have those 2 dishing out the truth!

Preferably Ron Paul, but if he doesn't want to run or thinks his age will affect his electability then I'd be happy to vote for his son on the ticket. Jesse Ventura is the man. He always stands up for freedom.

RE-LEGALIZE CANNABIS!
SolarEXtract 3 years ago
This is a "sticky" subject for me. Re-Legalize cannabis? Hemp that doesnt produce THC, no problem. But the government controlling the stuff i smoke, i dont trust them. Maybe if they let us grow our own and just tax what we grow. But this criminal government can never be trusted. Not while Monsanto is around. They will alter the genetic code. Shit, i cant even eat corn anymore. I just dont trust them to do the right thing. What do you think?
scottthrees 3 years ago
I don't think you'll find anyone who would argue against you on that matter, but perhaps you'd agree that any movement forward is better than nothing at all? I mean, we need to get our foot in the door and it looks like we may have done just that. I don't think that means we'll stop there though. We'll still be active. MPP, NORML, HIA, all those guys...I imagine them working as closely as possible with manufacturers of commercially sold cannabis. At least, I'm hoping that's what happens.
SolarEXtract 3 years ago
True, where this is at now is totally wrong. Just us discussing this, even the media bringing it up is a good step forward.
scottthrees 3 years ago
I guess I dont know, if the punishment for growing your own would be worse after it is legalized..
Otherwise my whole rebuttal is: It is illegal for you to grow your own NOW, but people still do it.. Therefore, what would stop you from growing once/if it becomes legalized but illegal to grow?
