  • Very cool. Thanks for sharing.

  • where do you get those kinds of steamers at

  • great video!

  • where did u get the model?

  • how much it cost?

  • the red light shouldn't be on when moving

  • where did you get it? how much money? (PLEASE REPLY!)

  • @leedleface Well you can find a few Northerns on Ebay. If I recall there is a brand new Athearn UP 844 for $419.95. Just search (FEF) on ebay should work.

  • this is not a toy its is a moving replica of americas longest running steam engine

  • wow did someone make a bunch of random accounts and say stuff about how bad trains are? I love trains, and i love the 844!

  • where did u get this model?

  • This engines is like impossible to find in it's gray and yellow scheme!!! I liked it better then the black version I guess I'll have to paint on myself which is going to be a hassle lol

  • I love HO scale. Anything bigger and everything starts looking rounded and toyish. Anything smaller and details start getting hard to see and even harder to produce. HO strikes the perfect balance. Now if only you could run them extremely slowly without worry about doing damage to the electric motors. I guarantee 844 never took off THAT fast.

  • I dont know why but the space under the cab is much smaller on the rivarossi one

  • That steamer has alot of detail! Is it a brass model?

  • you got the sound right thats what 844 sound like good video.

  • where did you get that steam engine off of.

  • nice

  • how did u cahnge the whistle

  • Wow. It's cool!

  • Pretty damn nice pal !!

  • Nice! I have #820!

  • I have UP #838 :D

  • nice vid mate

    great stuff too :)

  • looks really neat!!

  • @lionel6712020 Your opinion I just perfer HO because it's smaller but not to small

  • @lionel6712020 Lionel is nice if you want to pay a $1,000 for a "TOY TRAIN" it's 3 rail and that is consider TOY TRAINS, ho scale has a lot of accurate replicas and they aren't junk unless you are buying Bachmann or Lionel HO scale

  • @rallygsc I could never pay $1000 for any locomotive model. Lionel is grossly overpriced crap anyway. Only fools pay that much for non-scale bubbled out toyish looking stuff.

  • i just bought one for my dad just today. Its the FEF-2 #826. ITs in grey and yellow without smoke deflectors. cant wait for him to see it on christmas =]

  • Does he like it?

  • he loves it lol...well he better like it.

  • which company makes the 844

  • Athearn. They don't make them anymore, but someone usually sells them on ebay.

  • I've got a 4449,611,1225,3751 and a Niagra, and a Hudson. I'm still waiting to get a 844, big boy, challenger, and 4466. Do they make a Ho scale UP 4466?

  • I've got my 844, 3985, and 4012 as well as a Bachmann SY-2 Mikaido 142 on Christmas Day. They are awsome.

  • where did you get it? online or at a store?

  • is that from bachmann

  • Im getting a black one without deflectors for christmas...

  • You probably think im asking saying this, but i can't remember the name of the sheets of metal on the sides of the boiler, i just had it a minut ago, but i can not remember the name now for some reason.

  • they would be called "smoke deflectors"

  • i want one with no side skirts, and have a stove-pipe smoke stack, instead f the 2 pipe stack

  • i'm a huge steam fan, love it. but that horn sounded like a dying cow.

  • finally someone who USES THE MARSLIGHT!!! (never once have I seen the real 844 use her mars-light, I suppose this is because it is for UDE's, but it just looks so much cooler with it going.

  • COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • Just got smoke for the 823!

  • Very hard core. I chased and shot vids of the real thing across the states of Nevada and California.

  • I have the UP 823.P.S Nice video!

  • Great video, that's a nice looking locomotive to. Now I just have to wait for them to do another run with Tsuanmi(all future Athearn sound equiped models will thankfully be so equiped).

  • My goal is to get the Sp 4449 daylight, Up 844 and UP 3985 in HO scale with sound and smoke and mars light with those that have it. Now all i need is some money.

  • This is a beautiful locomotive, except for one shortcoming...the large open (see-through) area immediately above the engine's trailing truck. The real locomotive has no such glaring space. Otherwise, the 4-8-4 is a gem!

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • want one so bad

  • The Athearn Genesis sound comes from MRC which is not that great but their diesel sound is much better

  • The whistles pointed in the wrong direction.

  • Ray? That you?

  • Thanks.

  • Is that the factory-installed sound system? I've never seen one of these running before, so I wouldn't know.

  • haha, good to see SOMEONE using 844's mars light! it looks rather nice, if it wasn't for emergencies I would want the real 844 to have it on when running.

  • you need the water tender b/c the real 844 is an oil burner so it needs an extra water tender

  • oh i see. sorry these comments are hard to follow.

  • To me it was more of an art . Then just sitting and watching them run around n around .

  • I used to have one was called the OSL .

Oregon Short line , all Union Pacific Equipment until we sold the home . I still have a lot of stuff in storage from that .

  • I got rid of the spam on your commets should never make fun of ones hobbies what ever they maybe .

  • If you think this vid sucks, then FUCK OFF! AWESOME LOCO BTW LOVE THE 844!

  • dude your name is craigfucker88 that sounds really gay! have you lost your mind? these vids are aweosme! but than agian you can never lose what you didnt have...

  • yeah, didn't lima also make some?

  • No. Lima made the GS Series locomotives most famous for being on the Southern Pacific Daylight trains.

  • o

I know lima made the GS' and the berkshires

but who else made FEF's besides alco? Baldwin?

  • DCC right? I need to upgrade! Nice engine! Who made it? ( I mean the real engine, not the model) Alco right? I know they did the Challengers and Big Boys but what about the FEF series?

  • That's not a toy train. It's a scale replica model of the Union Pacific 844.

  • You must realize that Dass doesn't have a life or a hobby and sits in front of the computer picking on people who have lives and a hobby.

  • How about you just keep your mouth shut! Watching and operating trains is not childish, your stupid comments are childish! And Paul is NOT a kid!

  • @DasswholeD Listen A******, This is NOT a toy train, its a mature replica for intellectuals like us.

  • @844steamtrainisafag What a faggot.

  • @ColinTheAwesomest Not the guy who made this video.

  • Good model, but the sound system (mainly the cuffing) isn't syncronized to the drive wheels (should be at 4 chuffs per revolution). Check out MTH's HO engines with ProtoSound 3.0! The best sound and control ever!

  • i am 13 and my grandpa is a retired railroader.

so when the 844 came to norht platte, ne, he gave me a ride becuase the UP offerd him to drive if

    IT WAS FLIPPEN AWSOME!!!!!!!!

  • OK, who makes this?, where can I find it with sounds and that red light thingy blinks?,can it pull a long passenger train?, and what's the radius to the curve's? I know it's a lot of questions, but I'm so fired up about it.

  • that was cool.

  • DUDE thats the most coolest UP844 model ever!!

  • oh ok my challengers don't have that problem that I know of.

  • when you look at the tender is it missing wheels? and Why?

  • a few years ago i got to go right up close to the real 844 in missouri. it was AWESOME!!

  • how much did this train cost? online the lowest price i found was $249

  • Okay thanks.

  • Can you only do this in DCC? Cause I run it in DC only.

  • How did you get the correct whistle on it? It doesn't sound like that on the one I have.

  • also i wounder if they can run on both dc and dcc?

  • did u get a good deal on those northerns?

  • That is a sweet loco. I've got a challenger and would like to get an AC6000 from BLI. might get one of those too because MR (model railroader) says it pulls like 170 cars on straight and level track you should try that

  • IS that the slowest it can go? I've heard that these things have interesting issues at slow speeds.

  • Cool!

  • nice model! whos the maker?

  • I heard you have 840 also. I was considering that one, could you post them side by side so I can see how they look?

  • Sweet. I'm going to get one out of the 2nd run, probably 832. No sound, so I can slam a Tsunami in that sucker.

  • Really? No jacknifing dragster liked operation?

  • Sweet! Hows she run? I've heard mostly bad stuff about them.
