@TheMrJakethesnake Every creature has summoning sickness unles it has haist. It doesn´t matter if it artifact-creature, if it is a creature it has SS.
wow... this thing in the end is pretty much unnecessary... u could tap the green mana and play birds of paradise anyway lol... but to answer the question, yes, it's possible
@BlackJack001988 it is certainly NOT unnecessary to do like in the video. In the video, you get 2 creatures and the artifact out all in one turn. In your method, you would only be able to play two of those cards. Being able to play more cards is an advantage.
Question: When exactly does summoning sickness end? If my opponent casts an artifact creature and before the end of his turn I phase it out with Vision Charm, does it have summoning sickness when it phases in? My opponent didn't control it continuously since it phased out...
@j3robins as soon as your turn ends. The reason it's a rule is so the person that goes first can't win the game before the 2nd player has had a chance to play. It's a way to try and keep things fair.
@CodyM not from the way I was taught. As soon as your turn ends the creature can be tapped. Maybe this is no longer legal but the people I play with and the way I learned pushed that if you play a LLanowar elves for example you can use that to help you cast an instant on the next turn.
@Luigi84289 the official rule book states that “summoning
sickness”: a creature can’t attack, or use an ability that has oT in its cost, until it has
started your turn on the battlefield under your control.
so until your following turn it is still effected by summoning sickness since during your opponent's turn it still haven't entered your next turn under your control
I'm new to Magic and after seeing this video, I have a new situation to present to you experts.
If I have Alluring Siren out and my opponent just put out Royal Assassin, during my next turn can I force Royal Assassin to attack because of Alluring Siren's effect? Or does it stay untapped because it can't attack due to summoning sickness? I appreciate any answers.
Alluring Siren is useless against a Royal Assassin, because there's a time window between when the Siren ability is declared, versus when the Assassin "has to" attack. During this time window, the Assassin could kill the Siren, then remain tapped and unable to attack throughout the Combat Phase. Siren's Call would be more effective because it doesn't leave any of your creatures vulnerable to the Royal Assassin, and Siren's Call doesn't care whether the Royal Assassin stays untapped or not.
Bullwhip would also be more useful against pesky creatures such as the Royal Assassin. Although the Bullwhip cannot "commit" the Assassin anymore than Alluring Siren can, if the Bullwhip doesn't outright kill the Assassin, at least the Bullwhip isn't lending itself as a target for the Assassin. If none of your creatures are tapped and it's only a two-player game, the opponent would have to choose between killing one of their own tapped creatures (if they have any) versus losing the Assassin.
its a little late now but to answer your question. on alluring siren it says target creature attacks this turn if able... if it has summoning sickness then it is not able.
I believe a Keldon Battlewagon with summoning sickness can tap itself for its own special ability. While that may seem useless, keep in mind if you've already tapped some other creatures into the Battlewagon, then if you tap the Battlewagon for itself, you have then doubled the contributions from all the other creatures combined. If you had any means of untapping the Battlewagon, you could quadruple the contributions. Eventually you would use Fling, Greater Good, Riptide Mangler, etc.
I remember me and my friends being so confused by this exact subject when we first started out its good that you took the time to explain this for anyone who was confused by such a subject
Yeah see take a closer look at the artifact. In this example the mana needed to play Birds of Paradise is produced by the artifact, not Llanowar Elves.
Quiz answer - Yes, Springleaf drum does not come into play with summoning sickness so you can use the ability to force the elf to tap and produce the mana to play the Birds.
I still think it's fun to deviate from tournament rules every once in a while, especially when trying to recruit new players. Newbies never like to be dragged along by rules that they think are overbearing and anally esoteric. I usually allow the first couple games with a new player to bend the rules in their favour until they get the hang of it. Having a universal system of rules is still important, but have you ever fiddled around with the rules for fun jedijosh?
yes you can do it because is arfifact ability no Llanowar elf ability you are using

you can do it since you are using the artifact's ability of tapping a creature to add a mana of any color to your mana pool

wrong. Summoning sickness ends at the beginning of the first turn when you're in control of the creature in question.

DEFINITELY YES!!! because the springleaf drum are requiring the Llanowar to be tap. Its not the Llanowar itself
wrathofgod1925 2 years ago
Yes. Springleaf Drum produces the mana. Tapping the creature is the cost required by the Artifact to produce one mana of any color.

Basic stuff.

The answer is yes.
Springleaf drum, as part of its cost, is tapping Llanowar to produce green mana. With said mana, Birds of Paradise can be summoned.
